Re: Soapbox: Even With The Arrival Of PS4 And Xbox One, I'd Still Pick The Wii U

@Ronoh That's the point I think alot of people aren't talking about. I love Nintendo to death but I'm not dumb, the 3rd party support is deteriorating & after the holiday sales numbers roll in I can almost bet that Ubi & Warner are gonna start slowly withdrawing support & they're pretty much all the Wii U has left at this point as far as BIG AAA titles go & if Ubi does go the Wii U is dead in the water except for Nintendo's own amazing first party stuff & for gamers who like various amounts of content it's not a system you can recommend as your sole console. You need a Wii U & one of the other systems to get that content.

@SNES4Life First of all I don't think it was just Sony fans that were saying that. The Wii U had VERY slim pickings until August rolled around & then the AAA stuff started coming monthly. I have all the major systems because I enjoy various types of games. I'm just not blind to what is happening in the marketplace. Nintendo does their own thing & I applaud them for it but the Wii U is floundering HARD & it's only gonna get harder.
The Wii U does have a great library currently but look at the recent sales numbers, they're gonna probably lose more 3rd party support & they don't have that much to begin with. The Wii U will become another system that is amazing for Nintendo games. Ubi & Warner are probably not gonna stick around too much longer & wait for Nintendo to turn it around.
You're sitting their criticizing PS4's price point and last year the Wii U was only $50 less than a PS4 with WAY less horsepower & a controller to which hardly any games take advantage of anymore. Even Nintendo has been shying away from promoting the use of the gamepad in their own games lately. You say it's a better value & it is at the moment but the numbers speak for themselves. PS4 wiped away Wii U's lead in the UK in 48 hours & at this point it will be completely wiped away in just about 3 months time worldwide. Obviously there is a market for people who were willing to pay $400 plus for a console & online services. Nintendo just doesn't have the 3rd party support or online infrastructure to compete. It will do what it has done in the past, it will co-exist and be the console you play Nintendo games on & there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: TIME Lists Its Reasons For Picking Wii U Over PS4 And Xbox One

I LOVE my Wii U but I'm not blind. It's struggling & it's struggling VERY badly. I want them to succeed but when an amazing game like Mario 3D World doesn't start moving consoles you're in a heap of trouble.
Up until now, everyone was saying wait til Mario 3D World, wait til Mario 3D World....well it didn't happen. Sure it'll push a few more consoles and so will the Christmas holiday but now everyone is sayin wait til Mario Kart & then when that doesn't spur sales it'll be, wait til Smash Bros, etc...etc...

This in no way changes my love or feelings for my Wii U, I will still recommend it & I will continue to buy games for it but in 2 years time, Nintendo will be rolling out a new home console or at least unveiling it.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts Wii U Performance Reportedly Drops Below PS3 and 360 Standards

I sold my copy yesterday. Out of my 26 retail/disc based games I own for Wii U this is the only title I have not kept in my library. I should have listened to the reviews. It's a mediocre shooter at best with the worst graphics I have seen on Wii U. YEAH IT's THAT BAD!! The textures look sub-HD quality on about 90% of the game. Character models looked great for the most part but everything else looked absolutely terrible & the story was just so meh with missions that ended just as they would ramp up.
BLOPS 2 is definitely superior both graphically & story wise.

Re: Nintendo Releases Handy Wii U Comparison Chart

Dreamcaster-X

Didn't Nintendo just say themselves a few weeks ago that consumers aren't confused about what the Wii U is? They keep saying this publicly but create charts & even sent out a letter to Wii owners telling them the Wii U was an all new HD system after launch.
Just admit that you're marketing was confusing & move forward with a new ad campaign. Fire the one you're using because the commercials are terrible!!

Re: Poll: Is Nintendo's Wii U Advertising and Marketing Doing Enough?

Dreamcaster-X

I know it's been said before but calling it the Wii U and keeping the almost identical look of the previous system has just confused people plus the lack of marketing is just a disaster. I can't watch a channel without seeing an Xbox commercial yet the Wii U ads are just non existent and the way they handled Wonderful 101 was just a shame. I hope they plan on a media blitz for Mario 3D World because that game NEEDS to start moving systems.

Re: These Wii U Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Screenshots Look Very Pretty Indeed

It looks even better in motion and quite honestly it's probably the best looking game on Wii U period! Ubi really put the effort in this time & it has paid off. I rented the PS3 version just for comparison's sake & did some back & forth on several scenes & the Wii U copy is by far the best looking. It has higher resolution & textures, very crisp looking. It also doesn't bog down the way AC3 did in the cities. You can notice discernible difference in clothing textures in the cut scenes as well.

Quite honestly I was surprised to see that big of a difference but it's there & Wii U owners have very little to complain about minus the DLC that's PS exclusive of course but otherwise Ubi delivered!

Did I mention how friggin fun the game is????

Re: Wii U Isn't Getting Need For Speed: Rivals Thanks To Low Sales Of Most Wanted

Dreamcaster-X

@PinkSpider They do it because it's easier to blame the publisher. They'll complain & moan until they get a game & when they do, nobody buys it but then when the publisher says no more, we're moving on, they can say well the game sucked anyway or it's not my thing and they should have brought DLC this or online that to it. Most gamers own multiple systems but it's the die-hard Nintendo fans with only a Nintendo console that get offended the most but numbers don't lie. 3rd party software sells like crap on Nintendo systems.

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

Dreamcaster-X

Watching the review on Gametrailers has changed my tune on this game. Destructoid gave it a 7.5 & Gametrailers a 7.6 so I guess I'll sacrifice my $50 Amazon gift card for this one. I have a better idea of what to expect after reading their reviews combined with the one here.

Re: Rayman Legends And Splinter Cell Blacklist Both Sold Less Than Expected, Says Ubisoft

Dreamcaster-X

@Vyse Yeah, it's a crappy bully policy that the big kid (Microsoft) enforces to "protect" it's platform. Unfortunately the 360 controlled such a large part of the North American market that nobody wanted to go against them but had all the companies stood up, they would have backed down.
Things are looking different this gen where they may be more willing to play nice. = )

NICE Avatar BTW!!!

Re: Rayman Legends And Splinter Cell Blacklist Both Sold Less Than Expected, Says Ubisoft

Dreamcaster-X

@Vyse It's because Microsoft won't allow games on their platform if it gets released earlier on another platform. Ubi's hands were forced after choosing to go multi platform with the title. It probably would have sold a few thousand more copies on Wii U back in February but compared to the potential sales on the 360 with a MUCH MUCH larger install base it was probably the right financial decision even though it perturbed many Nintendo owners.

Re: Rayman Legends And Splinter Cell Blacklist Both Sold Less Than Expected, Says Ubisoft

Dreamcaster-X

@dumedum Half a million? It's actually 6 million if they sold all at $60 a pop but it was discounted severely 1 week after it's release but lets just say they sold all at $60. 6 million minus development costs, minus shipping to retailers, minus server cost for the multiplayer aspect & what do you think Ubi is left with? NOTHING!!! They lost money on Splinter Cell. Companies are out there to make money not lose it believe it or not.
