It was a decent system but never fully utilized. For every great game you had 5 poopy full motion video titles. Sega never truly got 100% behind it but at least it had better support than 32X, what a waste of money that was for me.
@Ryno I just read Game Over a few weeks ago on vacation. Same book? It's a brilliant look into Nintendo's past & in many ways they're still the same company or at least trying to be. It's part of their old chairman board mentality where it takes them forever to see change.
Well the gaming press fueled the fire by using Zinger/Click Bait type headlines with the story about the laugh. Very few reported in context what actually happened.
@danielsahr528 Yeah I will buy certain games digitally if that's the only way they're available but for retail, I go physical. If I lose a few eShop titles down the road because they're not available to redownload at least I'd still have the AAA retail titles to play and those are the most important to me.
I buy physical. I don't trust Nintendo's digital systems for the big AAA games. Who knows where their eShop will be in 5-10 years. If I own the game physically I can keep playing it on my console without having to worry about the future ownership.
@Quorthon What are you talking about???? Where in my statement did I say I hate Sony??? Could you point that out for me??? I seem to have missed that paragraph, please enlighten me. Furthermore as I said, I give them credit for supporting 2 platforms without hardly any third party support, something Sony has tremendous amounts of.
If you look at the big picture, nobody & I mean nobody puts out so many games on two platforms & delivers the kind of quality that Nintendo does. The company has plenty of faults for sure but I give them tremendous credit for basically supporting 2 platforms almost by themselves. It's pretty remarkable in this day & age but we know it's not sustainable. I think some kind of hybrid device is their best bet going forward. Either a home console that plays their handheld games with ease or if they support 2 platforms then it will be something where porting either systems games will be a fairly simple porting process, preferably with a cross buy feature.
SWEET JESUS, MARY, & JOSEPH!!! This game has exceeded my expectations!! I knew this game was probably going to be good but it just became my most anticipated title this year!!
@Megapokepaul Huh? I've used it for the last 2 days. Try going to Nintendo.com & then clicking on the Club Nintendo link. It seems to work better for some people doing that.
@MyBodyIsReggie Yeah, I've noticed that too. They advertise the out of it but nothing is ever available to buy. They must do low quantities that sell out quick.
@darthllama Sounds good. I know they usually do great designs so I was just surprised to see them leading off with these. If they designed another SNES or Super Famicom type design I would probably be all over it.
It's quite annoying that they haven't made enough of their current lineup but are already planning new ones. It's totally giving their loyal fans the finger.
I just can't imagine Nintendo not re-releasing these as non exclusives. There's just too much money to be made & why would you leave easy cash on the table? They have to be artificially creating these shortages to drum up the hype & demand. By not commenting on new orders they're just fueling the fire for demand higher and higher just like the Wii.
I'm sure some of this is Nintendo's fault but I also think alot of these shortages are due to the damn scalpers who have systems in place where they end up with tons of systems & figures on launch day and what's even worse is the people who buy them at these inflated prices but they know Nintendo has some crazy diehard fans & they prey upon them.
Nintendo could just remedy the situation however by releasing more of them but then again they're the masters of creating hype through shortages.
@TheHumbleFellow I've never once used the link cable to play Pokemon & I enjoy them immensely. I've been playing Fire Red & Emerald alot on the Retron 5, they're still fun without that feature.
I have no doubt the smaller model will come to the U.S. Nintendo isn't gonna leave money on the table especially with faceplates that could be sold although that begs the question...since the XL is the predominant sales leader, why not make faceplates for the console that sell the most?
@potatomage7 Well you're hurting the animal if you're seeing blood but this isn't like an MMO where it spews damage numbers out, it's much more subtle. The monsters will start limping when they're really hurt & that's when you know you're making progress.
I don't think demos do justice to this game. You really have to spend a few hours with the game to get accustomed to the controls & requirements of hunting/gathering to get the whole picture. Just throwing newcomers into random battles with leveled up characters is not the best way to win them over.
If you like questing & grinding, you may really enjoy this but there is a learning curve those first couple of hours but the Miiverse community is a BIG help if you need tips and having that right at the push of a button is a huge bonus.
I always felt like the lack of a second analog & full online service always hurt the portable MH games in the West. I've only played the console versions on PS2, Wii, & Wii U. However, after playing the demo yesterday & knowing that the C-Stick will solve control issues I have pre-ordered my first portable MH game.
I played Mario Galaxy 2 all night. It just sucks you back in all over again. It really is a brilliant game and I really like not having to boot into a separate mode to play it. I will be buying alot of these Wii games at $9.99!!
@electrolite77 You don't "have" to purchase anything. The Amiibo stuff is just extras for people who bought them. My MK8 and Smash still work just fine without Amiibo's.
Code Name, S.T.E.A.M. looks fantastic!! I'm so glad Nintendo is investing into new IP's and to people complaining about no games, do you own any other console? I'm still backlogged on 2014 3DS games because there's just simply not enough time to play all the good games that do come out on all the platforms.
Went hunting for some wave 2 figures tonight. I hit six stores and found tons of wave 1 figures and a Target with 10 Luigi's and a Best Buy with 2 Diddy Kongs & a bunch of Zelda's. The only wave 2 I'm missing are Captain Falcon & Pit, nowhere to be found.
NOT RUMOUR!! I checked email around midnight last night and thy have cancelled my Pit & Luigi pre-orders. Lucario hasn't been cancelled yet but it's happening to everyone. Even staffers at IGN have had their preorders cancelled. This is getting out of hand and Nintendo needs to release some statement to give clarity on what is going on.
The vagueness of their marketing team is intentional. Nintendo lit a fire under the consumers ass to not wait and to get their Amiibo's ASAP & it's working. Before all this talk of discontinuation I could walk into a store and grab pretty much any Amiibo I wanted & now it's bare bones at most stores or they have 20 Marios & nothing else. Preorders are also sold out in almost every single upcoming figure in the US. Nintendo knows exactly what it is doing.

Typical Nintendo...they launch Wii digital games with a bang & then just completely stop releasing them for weeks on end.
