I wouldn't say fans didn't want a 3D Metroid. I would say that they were hesitant of it because it was a considered a hard game to nail down in 3D but within seconds of playing it & doing the ball roll you knew they had succeeded but up until that moment yeah people were extremely nervous.
EA will not have any Wii U games to announce & Ubisoft might toss one more Assassin's Creed game their way as well as the delayed Watchdogs but other than that I wouldn't be holding my breath.
I support gay marriage & live in a state that supports it as well but Nintendo is damned if they do & damned if they don't on this issue. If they do include it, idiot groups like FOX news will run rampant stories about how Nintendo is dooming children with their "gay agenda" by completely manipulating & twisting the facts to their views & Nintendo just simply doesn't want to deal with this considering their heritage with games that are usually family safe. Honestly I'm even surprised the game is getting released here due to the inevitable questions that this issue as well as the pregnancy stuff could potentially raise.
Surely Nintendo has some big surprises up it's sleeve for this years E3. Even if they don't attend again they have GOT to have some big AAA titles unannounced that are coming later this year. Let's face it, they're pretty much going it alone going forward except for the occasional Lego title & whatever scraps Ubi tosses so they gotta have some surprises left. MK8 should sell consoles, but they need to start solidifying dates for Bayonetta 2 & X!!
That's a pretty good deal with the buy 2 get 1 free deal in addition. You could get a Wii U for $300 then add 3 awesome games to you library for another $70-$80 after the gift card is applied.
It's an interesting time. There's not much on the 3DS horizon that we know about & the big Wii U titles we do know of have been in development for years. I'm hoping Nintendo has some tricks up its sleeve but a game delay wouldn't be out of the norm for them. It could be catastrophic to the Wii U though for this year if Bayonetta,MK8, & X are the only games coming. Even X is a long shot at best. They NEED SSMB badly this year to get things turned around.
The games graphics are just so friggin good. It's a shame it took Nintendo so long to get into HD but they seem to be adjusting nicely. Maybe we will get a chance to see a new Zelda or Metroid in HD this year as well.
M2 did a fantastic job on the GBA games!! They look better to me than the SNES ports on e-shop, plus you get more options/settings for them. Nintendo should let them handle all the SNES/GBA ports!!!
@GamerOZO They remixed it. You can jump off certain vehicles & there's anti-gravity tracks all over with boosts so you can bypass traffic. He just didn't utilize it much.
I posted this in another article but it bears repeating for those that might have missed out on the GBA library. : )
The GBA is home to the second best library of games behind the SNES & if you count ports it would even beat the SNES. I've been playing them for about 2 years now & it seriously has one super deep library of games.
It's home to an original Zelda game, an original Metroid game as well as a hell of a remake of the first Metroid, the Advance War series, 3 of the best Castlevania games ever made, Golden Sun series, some of the best Pokemons in the series, Sonic Advance trilogy, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Mario Golf Advance, Mario Tennis Power Tour, Drill Dozer, Astro Boy, Gunstar Heroes Advance, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Tactics Ogre, 2 Fire Emblems, Super Robot Taisen series, Ninja Five-O, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Wario Land 4, Mega Man Zero series, Mega Man Battle Network series, both Klonoa games, a great Lunar remake, Mother 3, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, I could go on & on. Hopefully Nintendo mines their super deep catalog on the GBA platform because it truly is home to some of the best games ever made.

@JamieO You will LOVE these!! They are exactly the same as the classic controllers right down to the super sturdy build quality which are the best d-pad controllers ever made in my humble opinion. = )
The Super Nintendo/Super Famicom "Club Nintendo" controllers are the BEST way to play these games on Wii U. I imported 2 from Japan. I believe Europe got them as well. They're little pricey but totally worth it. They're the exact same controllers with a Wii connector at the end. HIGHLY recommended!! http://blog.twilight-realm.com/images/2009/02/classic-wii-super-famicom-controller.JPG
Ubisoft made the right choice not putting it up against MK8. It would have been CRUSHED!!! At least waiting for the MK8 mania to die down a few months they think WD will do better & it just might.
F-Zero is still the best SNES racer of all time and in my book the best 16-bit racer from that era period. I love the MK series but this one hasn't held up as well for me. I still like it but it's the weakest one in the series by far.
To those saying these should only be on portables, speak for yourselves. The GBA games look pretty fantastic on a 60 inch TV without any special filter running in 1080p. What's funny is alot of indie games are trying to replicate that 16-bit sprite look & they just never seem to get it right.
I should note this is via emulator, what the actual Wii U version will look like is anyone's guess.
This just isn't the time for Nintendo to be secretive about it's software lineup. Do something different, just come out BALLS TO THE WALLS with upcoming games!! Just show everything being worked on for the Wii U and give general release dates. Why no new footage for X??? Stop with the secrecy, it ain't working this time around. Just come out swinging!!!
@pcruthven Same here. I just had my first gaming PC built a few weeks ago & it was one of the first titles I downloaded & that was after putting more hours into it than any of my other Wii U titles. It was the best launch title that came out with Wii U in my opinion.
@unrandomsam Yeah but F-Zero as beautiful as it is just didn't have the same amount of background animations & physics to deal with as Sonic All Stars. That stuff really eats up the RAM and processing power.
This doesn't surprise me in the least but it's great news for the Wii U to keep the Indie game support coming. People laugh when I say that indie games are going to become a bigger & bigger slice of the pie but it's true. The market can't sustain 20 $100 million dollar AAA titles being released every year & the numbers don't lie.
@unrandomsam Yeah but the mobile ones are really gimped graphically. Even the Wii U, PS3, & 360 versions had stuff cut out that is in the PC version. There's so much more going on in the PC version via backgrounds & foreground stuff that the console versions just couldn't run with their limited RAM. I was delighted to get the PC version recently & experience the "full version", I had no idea so many little things were going to be added.
The best Kart racer since Double Dash!!! Yeah I said it, I think it's much better than MK Wii!!! This was a straight up hardcore kart racer that challenged you with gorgeous bright colorful graphics, amazing tracks, creative vehicles, & nostalgic music!! It's a shame the Wii U version didn't get the DLC that the PC did. I love racing around as Ryo!!
@feelthesarcasm I'm not saying there aren't good games coming but there were some huge AAA titles that sold extremely well last year. Bravely Default will do ok but won't reach Luigi Mansion or Zelda type numbers. Smash Bros however will sell gangbusters.
How do you top the amazing year of 2013 for the 3DS??? There's nothing too huge that's been announced for 2014 yet but I'm sure it's brewing. I know Bravely Default is next month & then Yoshi in March but what after that? Smash Bros & what others?
WOW!!! THAT LOOKS GREAT!! I still don't get why Nintendo holds back so much on the Wii U when it is in such dire straits. They should be showing new games as often as they can. They just wait too long in between to share news.
And what the heck ever happened to the GBA line coming to Wii U??? That was actually announced & wasn't rumored. They said it was coming but now it's like crickets. Seriously Nintendo!!!
So DKC:Tropical Freeze is Feb 21st....MK8 is "Spring", Yoshi game 2014, SSMB 2014, & "X" is unknown. Am I leaving anything else out? These are gonna be amazing titles but Nintendo needs to announce something else SOON!!!!
@mudmask I would LOVE to actually get a release date for X and a proper title for it. I don't get all the secrecy for that game, they need every AAA title they can get at this point, enough of it has been shown that people get the gist of it but it's time to spill the beans!!!!
It'll probably be some new Wii Sports additions and some vague dates for MK8 & Smash Bros. Like Spring & Fall. They have been doing such a good job of getting games out this fall but nobody is buying the Wii U despite it.
When a game as good as Super Mario 3D World can't turn around your fortunes, you're in trouble & at this point I don't even think MK & SSMB are gonna help. = (
@Senario If anything the Wii U had a easier time of it in the press at launch than PS4 or XB1. Just look at the review scores & you will see some SUPER critical scores for both consoles lineup. The new consoles have not really done anything differently in the way that other consoles have launched and actually have had really big lineups compared to consoles in the past. Even if half those games are ports from other systems they're still launch titles and the Wii U was criticized for the same thing last year. If we wrote off every console for having a poor launch we'd never have any systems. I don't think players started criticizing the Wii U til after launch that it didn't have games & they would be right. It was pretty much a ghost town til August.
@Rafie Same here. If the reviews for TitanFall are as good as it looks it may push me to get the One, if not that then potentially Halo 5 but I'm not too thrilled with the time I've spent with XB1 as of today.
@Rafie Yeah I think Knack is pretty fun too. I agree with the reviews that gave it a 7 out of 10 or 3 out of 5. It's got a lot of potential but you can see where they sacrificed stuff to make it a launch title but I'm really hoping for a sequel.
