Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind is a promising 3DS action game based on Wit Studio and Production I.G's anime series — which itself is based on Hajime Isayama's original manga. Having performed well commercially in Japan, Spike Chunsoft recently announced an updated "CHAIN" version for Japan this December, to further cash in on the success of the brand.
A Western release has been elusive, though the Australian Classification Board has once again come to the rescue with a listing; it has Atlus USA as the publisher and cites Online Interactivity as a feature, implying it could be a localisation of the newer iteration that includes online play. Atlus has, in recent times, been stepping up its publishing efforts in Europe — beyond its excellent support of the North American market — so this PAL listing certainly suggests that the localisation will be hitting all major territories.
Pleasing news for fans of the anime outside of Japan. We'll keep an eye out for official updates, but in the meantime below is a trailer for the CHAIN iteration that's confirmed for Japan.

I was hoping this game would come to Europe! Fingers crossed it doesn't fall through
I love attack on titan :3 my fave anime ^^
Atlus usually has a good eye for these things so um definitely interested.
That aside, what is up with all the 3ds definitive versions of games lately in Japan? Doesn't seem like we get anything in the west till they announce those lately. I can almost count on 2 hands with games this has happened to.
I wish I could give everyone at Atlus a big hug.
If the game is half as good as the anime, I'm all over it.
omg!!! i love attack on titan so much. i dont care how good this game is, i had given up on it coming to the west. but im so exited now!!! i'll buy this day 1 for sure. i'll wait in line for hours to make sure i get it. AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Atlus localisation efforts have been terrible for the EU at least for Nintendo games.
I'll be sure to keep note of this game, it looks interesting.
Funny story, I was talking with my brother about this and the live action movie (interested to see how they're going to cast the actors lol) 4 days ago and he ask if the game is coming westside. My short answer, yes. Glad to know my lie become true.
@97alexk
If Attack on Titan is your favorite anime, then I'm going to assume you haven't seen much anime. LMAO
@SecondServing I have seen the biggest or best ones, bleach, guilty crown,Full metal alchemist, SAO ( i didnt like SAO that much), dusk maiden of amnesia,Angel beats,Death note, cowboy bebop and so on ^^ My fave animes are Dusk maiden of amnesia and Attack on titan :3
@SecondServing
Or maybe it's just his favorite anime. There's no reason to be rude about it.
Atlus great.
Shingeki no Kyojin garbage.
Conflicted.
I loved the anime, though I haven't read the manga.
I'm very happy about this, especially because it's Atlus, which means E'SHOP REDUCED PRICE SALES!
I freaking love Atlus.
I was keeping an eye on this, so I'm very glad it could come out in the US, I'm disappointed with the Titan fights, as they look really generic, but I can deal with it.
The online is a welcome feature as well, even if I've never been big on online gaming.
TAKE MY MONEY ATLUS!
"Atlus has, in recent times, been stepping up its publishing efforts in Europe"
Hahahahaha. Wait. Have i just been rick rolled?
FINALLY!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just hope you'll be able to choose the original japanese voices. I watch the show subbed, and I really want to hear the japanese voices with subtitles. No dub, no English voices please.
I said that Atlus should rev up the Attack on Titan 3DS game, and now it's gonna be............revved up here : P
Glad to see this come to more regions, but I'll still import the Japanese version. Enjoyed the 2013 version a lot.
@Shotgunryugan
I would like titan fights to be more interesting but what can they do?
Being able to swing over and around architecture, dress up as a ninja, use a knife and fork as blades, have grenades + mines + traps as support tools and such is much more interesting. We aren't going to get a God Hand, The Wonderful 101 or Bayonetta level beat em up out of what in most fights is closer to a Dynasty Warriors experience with normal titans being fodder.
@Spoony_Tech
Bravely Default.
Senran Kagura.
Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai
Attack on Titan (probably)
Monster Hunter 4
I'm sure there are more games which come with the definitive version first.
@thelastgogeta I don't know what could improve it, it just looks bad.
For such an important part of the show/manga, it's kinda disappointing.
@thelastgogeta Add Fantasy Life as we get the updated Link version.
@Parrall Wanna donate that money to me, it'll help with the defend all of mankind charity.........and because i'm swelltastic : P
Looks interesting... If it gets released in sweden i'll maybe pick it up.
@3dcaleb you think it will be for wii u or is this just a 3ds exclusive?
@polivar4
There is a point with the "multi-platform" notice in the rating for Australia but I'll stick to assuming it will be released for the lead platform as that was the exclusive platform for the December 2013 release and we are just over a month away from Japan getting the Dec 2014 upgrade without a word about other platforms.
I suppose it could be on more platforms but people will probably not receive the presentation very well even if MH3U did fine and it isn't a looker.
@Spoony_Tech
So we have a full handful of em as recent or soon upcoming releases. A real trend we have here.
@Shotgunryugan
I've played over 100 hours of the original game but probably spent less than 4 minutes as a titan. It is a temporary power up in World Mode (good idea) and a permanent form in some short story missions, so you won't get to use it much for it to really bug you.
You use it when you want to get through a fight more easily or for contrast. The main course is everything else.
Love the show, but can't get over how unrealistic the 3D movement gear is, and how they shoot grapple hooks from the waists, instead of from the wrists/arms.
Aww heck yes! The graphics look better than I expected for some reason. I will definetly be picking this up though!
@97alexk no love for Yu Yu Hakusho?
@AlphaAlex I noticed that too. lol funny
YAY, Thanks Atlus!
What do you guys think the age rating for this will be? My 11-year-old brother likes Attack On Titan and would love this game, but we'll have a hard time convincing our mom to let him buy it if it turns out to be M.
So Europe 2017 then?
As someone who generally who generally hates anime, this was a great show and I might actually consider picking this up
My buddies will definitely be excited for this! The question is...how difficult are those darned crawlers?
@pieman600 That's kinda like saying you don't like movies or music. There's probably something for everyone.
Cool, That's a good show. Personally, I'd like a second season of the anime before a video game though :3
@clavier141 hope so
Cool
This looks good for sure. Can't get enough of Atlus.
@Seanmyster6
Probably M for Mature. The Japanese game was rated D (which is frequently but not always a good match), Japan's second highest rating. When you get eaten by titans, the detail isn't high fidelity and it doesn't even show your limbs thrown about like the fan game...
Play that if you can't get permission to play this: http://fenglee.com/game/aog/
However, there is still more blood that a T game would probably get and you can behead the smaller titans in the 2013 version as well as remove limbs from bigger ones. Even if they aren't human, this sort of detail isn't going to be overlooked by the ESRB.
@ModernMARVEL
Both types of crawler are troublesome, but mostly for their spin attack which they can combo you and your allies with before grabbing and eating ya. They are the hardest 1 hit kill enemies in the 3DS version, but nothing on the fan game equivalents unless you are in a tight space.
I have a japanese import of this! It's cool!
@Webby-sama I dont like AoT but the gameplay looks really fun! At least it will sell some more 3dses at my school
This is great! Can't wait too see it and try that online out. Now we need Dragon Quest X to get the call!
Not my cup of tea, I saw it as another excuse (the anime, I mean) to see naked bodies being cut to pieces. Not criticizing people that are really into the lore, though.
Freedom Wars meets Valkyria Chronicles??
attack on titan for north america, please, and also for the rest of the world but USA, USA. make it happen for the resat of the world and we will bow down to whoever localizes the game, well i will but still
@andrea987
Yeah, the whole show seemed like an excuse to justify a lot of things (the amount deranged fetishes in the first few episodes was staggering, and that's not even including the emo-teen pandering). After watching about 8 episodes I pretty much boiled it down to one easy saying: Cryin' n'Dyin' and I ain't buyin'.
@thelastgogeta Oh thank GOODNESS! I can't count the amount of times the Crawlers annihilated us in the fangame.
@Dreamcaster-X In a sense yes. The Attack on Titan game outdates Freedom Wars but both feature a lot of weapons and traps (though you aren't going to combo a titan or anything in AoT) while it also has the option to recruit generic characters with your funds or streetpass recruits who can die for good.
@thelastgogeta Thanks, bud! Looks like little bro's gonna have to stick with the fan-game for now.
Armin-my husbando-I will be so excited for you to be playable on my 3ds.
@Punished_Boss_84 It's the truth, whether you want to believe it or not. I know I've specifically told you this before, but I'll say it again: Atlus only recently had it's own European Branch via SEGA. Remember? They were aquired by SEGA?
@CanisWolfred
First: we have never spoken about this before.
Second: It has nothing to do with whether I'll believe or not, their European publishing is very much a problem and SEGA (oh please) despite the acquisition aren't stepping in. Acquisition by SEGA doesn't mean Atlus has immediate access to their European branch, that's not how it works. Companys in Atlus's position usually operate like they did pre-acquisition.
Third: I don't know where you're getting your information from but the official word is ‘We are pleased to be bringing Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to Europe, but but this does not currently reflect a long term publishing deal between Sega Europe and Atlus USA’.
http://metro.co.uk/2014/09/19/sega-uk-to-publish-persona-4-arena-ultimax-this-november-4875130/
@thelastgogeta I forgot the created characters could turn into titans too.
Making it temporary was definitely a good idea, I think the fan game also had everyone being able to turn into titans.
How long do we still have to wait for this game?
Well, more and more people seem to be getting into the show these days, so their timing will probably work in their favour. Game doesn't look partiuclarly special but as a fan I'll have to get it, especially if the price is right
