10 ways the Nintendo Switch can have its best year yet:
1.- Metroid Prime 4 teaser trailer on march direct. 2.- Metroid Prime 4 full reveal on E3 3.- Metroid Prime 4 demo on E3 4.- Metroid Prime 4 amiibo set announced on E3 5.- Metroid Prime 4 release date on November 2019 6.- Metroid Prime 4 tidbits every now and then till September 2019 7.- Metroid Prime 4 Direct in September 2019 8.- Metroid Prime 4 Eshop Demo 9.- Metroid Prime 4 launches on November 2019 10.- Metroid Prime 4 DLC announced on December 2019
@Bensei I don't know if it was a direct translation from the Japanese, but if it is, My Child could also be taken as a recognition from a teacher to an apprentice, not necessarily stablishing a bloodline relationship. Other than that, I don't feel like MM Link has a direct blood connection with TP Link since the former was lost in Termina and died full of regrets, but I agree that they share a common ancestor in SS Link.
@gokev13 In the case of Other M, giving her a weakness wasn't the problem, the problem was on the how they portrayed it. Other M is almost at the end of the Metroid saga at the moment, so it just doesn't make sense how her PTSD kicked in the way it did. It made sense in the manga prequel to the original Metroid (which makes a beautifull job to give her a personality), in which she also lost her mind. At the end, she overcame that and was able to end Ridley, even for several times until Other M. She thinking that she killed Ridley already shouldn't be a cause. She probably thought the same when she defeated it on Tallon and when it desintegrated in front of her in Corruption. Other problem people had is in how she just follows blindly Adam orders, even when it was evidently they were wrong (not giving you access to the Varia Suit until a freaking lava monster is almost eating you is just stupid since you were already visiting areas in which the suit would come in handy and it isn't a threat to the security of Adam's platoon and the ship, which was the reason they were prohibited). They could try to give Link a weakness, but trying to give him a personality shouldn't be a priority for the games IMO. We have the manga for that.
Hopefully Link never gets to speak or develop a fully fledged personality as some people want. IMO, that would just take out one of the best things the Zelda franchise has. You are Link, your personality is his personality. He has some traits, but they are minor and enjoyable enough. In Xenoblade Chronicles you play as Shulk being Shulk, in Zelda you play as Link being you. They have improved on this with BotW with the kind-of dialog tree. You can be an a-hole with "I don't have time" or "Paraglader please" if you want to. Hopefully we get even more of this with characters being rude with you if you are being disrespectful or get friendly if you are nice to them.
I'm sad that this game didn't did better than it did. The gameplay is really solid and just flying around feels good. I feel that the toys-to-life was the thing that killed this game. Most gamers were fed up with the idea and just skipped it. It would have been cool to let you unlock the ships and the toys just gave you an easy access to them (or just working as an starter pack, like in Pokémon, to let you choose which one you wanna start with), but I guess this was just conceived a bit late.
@nintendork64 Yes, I would enjoy to play it again and actually beat it this time around (I was pretty young back then), but I believe it was made by a now-dead studio, so that, coupled with dealing with the current owners of the licensing rights might be too complicated to even bother with it, but a man can dream.
@DarthFoxMcCloud I want to hack mine to add the games I own physically (like Maximum Carnage, Mortal Kombat, Chrono Trigger, DKC 2 and 3). I just want to know if there's a way to restore the original firmware and leave the system as if it had never happened if I ever want to go back.
@ultraraichu Well, the holidays aren't over yet. They aren't going to be doing more restocks after that, so this systems are going to be harder to find as the time goes by.
@Frenean The NES games didn't age well either. I have lots of memories, but those are mostly from Super Mario Bros 3, Ducktales 2, TMNT and Dream Master. Too bad only one of those is on the NES Classic.
I don't know why they left out the concept of the VC out of their plans. It was brilliant, especially on the Wii era. Lots of great games (and often others that were limited releases on the past) were available to anyone with the console. The system they are pushing now isn't bad, but they are completely ignoring what their users want.
For me, I at least still have my Wii U and 3DS out for my VC needs. The VC on the Wii U isn't the best, but at least I can have lots of SNES and GBA games that I didn't got a chance to play before. And a heads up, if you have any money in your Wii shop, you probably want to use it before December ends and the service is closed.
"This guys were making too much noise while playing Smash. Instead of arresting them, a couple of Police officers sat down and shot them 57 times in their own home. This is the worst case of suicide scenario we've ever seen."
Everyone wants a revision, but I believe they'll be disappointed. A Switch revision isn't going to let you play RDR2 on the go. Most probably it is going to be like the New 3DS. That means that the changes aren't going to be as big as the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X.
Just like Smash 4, the tiers now mean no more than a personal taste from the players. Leffen enjoys playing with Falco and Pokémon Trainer, so it is obvious he's going to place them high. The meta will develop over time as we start to get tournament results more often. As of now, and given the sheer number of different fighters, it is hard for a single person to do an accurate list, and well, if Smash 4 was any indication, it is possible that some characters see a nerf or a buff, so it is even harder to nail it.
@Tendogamerxxx As some people have already pointed out, digital games are terribly overpriced in the Mexican eshop, usually 20 dollars more than in Amazon. Unless it is an eshop exclusive or you want it available at any time, there's no reason to get them digital over here.
I can confirm the copies were sent kind of late, they even sent an email saying that the copies would arrive on launch day even if they were sent that same day (which seems it wasn't entirely true). They usually send new releases 2 days before launch, but at least in my case, they sent my package a day before and it arrived during Friday afternoon. Gladly, my copy arrived alongside my Smash and Splatoon amiibo, but they left another package that wasn't mine too (I wasn't home so I couldn't check it before). It seems they ran through a mess with this launch. I can't tell for sure if it was because of the leaks (Nintendo could have delivered the copies late to prevent further leaks) or just that they weren't prepared for a launch this big.
Meh... I guess it is a valid concern, but the process is so streamlined that you can unlock every character in less than 5 hours, or in a weekend like I did (without any tricks or fancy stuff, just playing some matches with my brother and girlfriend). And yes, I know that doing it several times on several systems can be tedious, but if you have the resources to have multiple games and systems, you probably have the support to get everything ready too. Besides, and I know this might sound bad, the game wasn't developed with this kind of users in mind. It was developed to play it, not to host tournaments and such. Besides, only not-big tournaments seem affected by this, and Nintendo doesn't even endorse those tournaments in their creator program. IIRC, they don't want them to even stream the tournaments that aren't supported by Nintendo.
Not a lot of great game were announced in the event. I know it isn't the purpose of the event, but at this point it has become an expectation. It was a little disappointed that Nintendo presence in the event was so small. I was hoping to see at least something Bayonetta related since they've been silent since last's year VGA, but we at least got a DLC character for Smash.
And Reggie knows we want Metroid. He knows. His shirt wasn't random at all.
@flapjack-ashley No one is not going to buy or play Smash if they reveal Metroid Prime Trilogy. Having more games to look forward to is always a good thing.
@ReaderRagfish It is getting bigger year after year. Although I just watch it for the reveals, I enjoy watching the developers get somewhat recognized on the event.
Town? TPC usually registers their new Pokémon games when they are close to reveal them. I can't see a reveal now that Pokémon LG is still hot. A registration in February-May makes more sense.
@Alsebra Well, I was referring to trying to get good stats in Pokémon Let's Go overall, not especifically Mew, but I agree. Unless you play competitive battles following Smogon rule set, there's little to no point in perfect mystical Pokémon other than bragging rights.
@Alex0714 There are at least over 600 Pokémon missing in the game. But if you want to overlook that, you still need to cash out to get Mew and Meltan/Melmetal (Pokeball Plus and probably in-game items in Pokémon Go).
@Ludovsky That's fair, but still, almost half of the people that own a Switch use it as a handheld gaming system, so the Switch here is a special case.
@TheFanatic afaik, Pokémon has always sold more than Smash (correct me if I'm wrong). Besides, RSE sold more than FRLG, so I don't consider nostalgia to be a big defining factor in sales. I still think that Let's Go would have sold more if it was a traditional mainline entry.
@Bolt_Strike I'm actually interested in that. I wonder how many are actually new fans from Go or returning fans from Gen I. It would be nice to know the Recurring/New player ratio, but it would hard to determine it I guess.
@Alex0714 That's one thing. Other is not having access to all the Pokémon. Oh, and the missing abilities/held items mechanics too, and I could add that these changes limit the metagame most competitive players are used to. At least these are the reason why I skipped the game. I couldn't give a flying f about the catching mechanic personally, but I can see why some people may think that this is the only reason why others don't like this game.
Despite I don't like Let's Go, I never thought it would bomb (even bad fast food sells), but I can't feel anything other than disappointment really. I fear this little experiment may grow and corrupt the main entries now that they saw it sold this many.

@Bensei As I said, that could also mean they share the same bloodline from the SS Link, which shared some of the moves the Hero Spirit passed along.
