With less than two weeks away from launch, it was recently claimed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had made broken street date in the form of the physical game.
We now have total confirmation that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has made its way into the wild, as the game data has been dumped online.
Among the content dumped is the entire collection of music present in the game, which are already making their way online in the form of YouTube videos. We recommend being cautious in the coming weeks to avoid major spoilers.

That sucks..... But after the last direct, I've been doing the whole 'not interested' on YouTube recommend.... Cause the wait is killing me, but not enough to ruin the World of Light experience 14 days!
Welp. There goes that.
Doh! Well at least we can have some music to hold us over til the game releases official. Iβm curious to hear the DK tracks
Yay, you got the game early! What do you do? Dismantle the files and upload tons of spoilers online.
When people think "pervert fans", they think rule 34. But let's be honest, THIS is an example of much bigger, much more real perversion.
Can music really be spoiled though?
I really dont care. I'll play it either way and so will you guys
Welp, they did it, I really hate that they had to do it but they did it...
They just HAD to do it, people just can't leave a game unspoiled until release date because apparently people REALLY are that toxic and inconsiderate within the community to just blatantly ruin the game for others before the game is even out.
Sakurai worked his heart out, he's clearly been upset and immensely as well and he still gets hate for his work, toxic fans are really just ungrateful for his hard work and effort he put into the game to make it a game for everyone to enjoy.
But alas, they had to go ahead and do this as well, the hammer slamming down on the stake already lodged in this poor man's chest.
Sakurai didn't deserve any of this, he didn't deserve the toxicity and rampant hate, the ungratefulness and the sheer disrespect people are now showing him by spoiling everything for him.
I hope they're happy with themselves, because they may very well be the reason why Sakurai might never do anything as ambitious as this ever again.
@Spoony_Tech To some, yes. The soundtrack has lots of effort put into it and it's for Nintendo to decide when to put it out, not for some dataminer who thinks it is nice to put everything online if you ask me.
@RagoxHatena Welcome to the Super smash bros fanbase, people who don't get over because their favorite character didn't get in.
Congratulations! You got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate two weeks before the game releases! What do you do?
> Enjoy your prize quietly. Shhhh....
> Post screenshots and footage to streaming websites and social media. Show everyone what they're missing!
> Upload the OST to the internet because, hey, the music rocks!
> Upload the full ROM somewhere. Because everyone else bought the game...right?
> Dance in celebration. Who said the Macarena was old?
@Spoony_Tech To some extent. What if Sakurai hid an announced character as a surprise, lying about the final roster? What if the music for the final cutscene in the story mode is an epic moment that goes with the music that it ruins the moment having already heard the track and have expectations where that track would be played or what its made for.
@Tyranexx I would enjoy my prize but I would send just a picture of the box like "hey guys I have it, but not posting anything just learn to wait"
BUT THEN I would be a hypocrite and play the game because i can't contain my hype. Yikes.
If this is a store breaking ranks, Nintendo needs to take a look at their supply chain. Because this is happening more often than usual. If retail stores keep breaking street date like this, it wouldn't be a surprise if Nintendo started cutting people out. We're already casually sliding into digital-only as is.
@IHateTombs I gave you a thumbs up just because of your handle+avatar, itβs so hilarious π
Well played mate π
Better avoid those spoilers.
If I had the game, I'd take it to my local Smash Scene and we'd all have ourselves a pre-release Smash tournament =)
I feel not so good. Similar Brawlhalla is almost disappointed.
I wish it was 1998 again
It's a fighting game get over it.
Welp, looks like I wonβt be going on the internet for the next 2 weeks.
@Tyranexx I would go with the first option
I don't think I'd wanna see Sakurai's face after hearing about this.
I wish there were "one bad apple" consequences when things like this happen. Like DLC cancellations or something. I hate it so much. Leaks, spoilers, all of it. Trash.
Sad to hear. But Iβm surprised this would happen in 2018. Surely thereβs a way they could stop the cartridges from working until the game has been officially launched?
@RagoxHatena What was there to really spoil anyway? Nintendo themselves have already told us basically everything about the game already, not including the fact that we've already seen a a majority of what the game has to off by proxy of it basically being a 'best of...' title.
Feel for Sakurai. Very sad that people are determined to spoil the surprise.
Just noticed you managed to sneak the words "Massive" and "dump" in the headline. Nicely done
@NOELQUEZON Brawlhalla plays extremely differently from Smash Bros. I, myself, tried playing BH as it was advertised as a free fighter with Smash elements. I am a huge fan of Smash, but it was very hard to play more than a few matches of Brawlhalla.
So another Sun/Moon situation?
Who is even remotely surprised? For every major movie, tv show, and game there are loads of aspiring spoilees, desperate for 10 mins of internet attention and cred, dying to βmake a nameβ for themselves amongst the toxin-plagued sewer of fanboy culture. To aspire to the claim of βfirstβ is only seconded to the inevitable (knowing the great anticipation) hot take labeling the game a disappointment and garbage (for missing x,y, and z).
Imagine how sad is going to be when the regular music reveal hits next week on the website.
"Hello guys, here's a new remix from [INSERT FRANCHISE HERE] coming from the talented musici-....oh right, guess you all knew this one already "
I love the internet for discovering new things, but really when Facebook became big I noticed the internet ruining society. Seems it is also hell bent on ruining video games.
In somewhat related news, the new security features of the 6.2 update have been bypassed, and will be completely hacked by the time Smash is released.
This is what gives pirates and rom users a bad name no need to dump a game before it comes out. PC users do this all the time with new games, we as gamers don't want or need this.
@ClampedDownHard I thought they said today that 6.2 blocked the physical exploit by changing the checksum to a different non-hackable sector?
can someone finally confirm if stickers ehh...spirits... have descriptions please?
I just want to know one thing, is Poke' Floats coming back!?
@IceEarthGuard, @Redin: Personally, I'd go with option 1.
(Though I'd probably send a shot of the case to a couple of acquaintances.)
@StinkyHat in detective pikachu yes
In smash no
@Trajan No, the physical exploit (Fusee Gelee) is not fixable. Period. Basically, in 6.2 what N did is they used a currently unhacked security chip to verify at boot whether the OS has been modified, and if it has been, the Switch crashes. Someone clever figured out a way to defeat that check.
The general consensus is that Nintendo did a good job with security on the 6.2 update, but the CPU is so deeply exploited their efforts are a waste.
I wonder how it broke street date. Seems likely to me someone stole a copy of the game. Bloody thief, I hope he gets caught and sued into the ground.
Pirates get things first, as always. Dark Souls, Diablo, Pokemon, etc: they were all leaked before the release date, why is this a news?
@Heavyarms55 It didn't need to be stolen. Nintendo shipped to some countries with less-than-ideal shipping networks early so that stores there would have it in release date. Turns out said stores don't care much about release dates.
Pretty much expected for every major Nintendo release at this point.
@ClampedDownHard All you need is one person who works in a video game shop, with access to the games waiting in the storeroom.
@Tyranexx Then I would spend the next 15 days scouring this state searching for you and your rogue cartridge π
@HobbitGamer: Proceeds to install a secret vault somewhere in the house to game away from prying eyes.
@ClampedDownHard If you agree so sell a product and you don't follow the agreement you sign, that is effectively theft. More likely, the store executives agreed, but some employee didn't care and stole a copy.
@Trajan Facebook didn't cause the internet to ruin society.
Oooooh man that Divine Bloodline remix is so good.Sorry Sakurai i have sinned.
@Euler The only way to stop a cartridge from working before release would be some kind of online activation. That's not a good idea, especially for a mobile system. Checking the date offline on the console doesn't work, because you could just change the date to some time after launch before putting in the game.
Is there anything left in the game that hasn't been spoiled already by Nintendo?
They could put sensors in the box. You open it up before street date it sends a signal
@JackAwesome Q that would just eliminate store clerks, I wouldn't be surprised if the data dump originated from a copy sent out for reveiws.
Well that's not great, but it's also not a disaster.
The characters and stages were revealed before release for a reason, I think some people are just overreacting...but Smash fans are like that for some reason.
@countzero It would solve tons of problems though with one hitch being the one as you said, I believe it's worth the step
@Yasaal It wouldn't solve anything, especially on a compromised system like the Switch. It would just make life more difficult for legitimate customers.
Hahahaha. And you wonder why Sakurai doesn't want to do another story.
@ClampedDownHard Guess the only solution would be to wait for the Switch Pro then, but that won't be until 2020 I bet
Funny how everyone is acting like it's Harry Potter or Final Fantasy being spoiled.
I don't suppose there's any chance of a demo like with the 3ds one. Less than 2 weeks is both really close but seems miles away too.
Lol How can you get the game this early?!
Time to seize the opportunity and add favorite tracks to my 3DS Music Library. Like they say, you can't be too rich, or too evil!
Why not add data you don't want leaked as a day 1 patch. I hate them but wouldn't mind in this context. Can't data mine data that ain't there.
Eh, doesn't really matter to me at all. Nintendo has shown us like 95% of the entire game already, what's the big deal with having access to a list of the spirits and music? As for the cut scenes, bosses, and classic mode themes... I just simply am not looking at them until I see them in the game itself. Not hard. Looking forward to the game's release!
@invictus4000 My thought exactly. And if you really don't want the "more important" things to be spoiled, like the cut-scenes and boss battles, then don't watch them.. Pretty simple to me lol.
I accidentally stumbled upon the physical case, upset about that... but i'm avoiding cutscenes & stuff.
@countzero They should require a passode available online at release. Then you wouldn't need internet on the device to activate it - just the passcode. Give the code to retailers via email at the time the game launches. Have them print it on every receipt. Clearly label the box that the game requires a passcode available at this website, or at the retailer at launch.
If you do not want to be spoiled do not google it, they put some cutscenes in from spirit mode.
All bosses, all tracks etc etc.
i hate that i watched it but couldn't resist.
@Daldra Whether or not the game is significant doesn't rectify spoilers. I bet you'd be another person to dump it online from the sounds of it.
@Lizuka : People like you are what's going to be the final nail in the coffin for physical game copies.
@Lizuka : You said it yourself that you would spoil the game. And even blatantly full disclosure, nonetheless. Even if you meant it differently, the subtext remains the same.
"And full disclosure, if I got ahold of an early copy I'd be spoiling everything I could."
