Ubisoft has revealed that Starlink: Battle for Atlas is receiving a hefty-looking content update tomorrow, with new enemies, new gameplay, and a brand new photo mode all coming to the game for free.
You can see all of this in the video above, where a narrator takes us through the changes we can expect to see once the update has arrived. If you're hoping for a written description instead, you're in luck. Here's what's coming to Starlink tomorrow:
- NEW ENEMY UNITS – All planets of the Atlas star system will receive brand new enemy types, introducing unique gameplay mechanics and encouraging players to adopt new strategies.
- NEW ACTIVITY – Outlaw fortifications will appear all over Atlas for players to take down. This new activity will provide loot and experience upon completion.
- PHOTO MODE – Players will be able to capture the favorite moments of their journey throughout Atlas and express their creativity with several tools to personalize their shots.
You may also be aware that Starlink: Battle for Atlas has been heavily discounted since launch after disappointing sales - you can pick up the entire starter pack with a physical copy of the game, toys, and Fox's Arwing for just £19.99 from Amazon UK right now! There's never been a better time to jump in and try it out.

All those ships in my gamestop bargain bin will soon be free too.
Ok that was pretty mean.
Sweet! This game is just getting better.
I wish they would fix the controls!! Just allow me to swap what each analog stick does. As it stands now, I cannot boost and maneuver around since that requires the same thumb. That is my big issue with this game. If that gets fixed I’ll probably have the drive to finish it. I can’t get past the fact that I’m limited to either boosting OR maneuvering around :/
Just when I thought I was almost done with this game. I’ve cleared out all of the planets, I just need to finish collecting everything in space.
It was £17.99 in Smyth’s last week. After seeing how limited it is compared to the digital version I’d rather wait for the inevitable eshop sale
Edit: It is! 😃 50% off
@Shadows_Revenge It's just been discounted to 50% off on the European eShop
Just in time! I’m getting the game for Christmas, so this is awesome!
Well, hot dog. I was just thinking about playing this last week. Maybe I’ll have a go tomorrow night.
@neufel "All those ships in my gamestop bargain bin will soon be free too.

Where? Nothing mention that but then again people don't stop to read.
Nice! My kind of price point!
What a lovely surprise! Guess I know what I will be playing (some more) this Xmas!
PS: Sand worms on the desert planet? You loveable gents
Just bought the starter pack for €30, as I don't want to have digital version on my Switch after i'm done with the game. Can't wait to play the game!
Same here but man just playing the first world was already a feast.
@Dogorilla literally just checked after commenting and bought it haha.
Was gifted the Star Fox pack 3 weeks ago - have spent vastly more time pondering 3D printing a plug-in module that completes the normal look of the Arwing wings than thinking about putting the Starlink cartridge into the Switch.
More enemy types is definitely an improvement. Glad to see.
I’m excited! Now that I’m done with Smash I can pick this up again.
@SwitchForce Bern, Switzerland.
Here's the proof: https://www.gamestop.ch/starlink?section=rabatt
Been holding off until the eshop sale... and it happens the exact time I'm skint from Christmas! -_-
Awesome. The Switch's best 3rd party game just got better!
@Shadows_Revenge (or anyone else)
How does the digital version differ from the starter pack? I would have thought the digital version would be limited by not coming with the toys.
I spent over 20 hours in this game and it's totally worth it.
I really like this game. Sad it hasn't caught on. It's so satisfying to play.
I appreciate any updates and will likely be playing Starlink for a good long time.
@SigourneyBeaver Here’s the comparison between the physical and digital editions. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/10/guide_starlink_buyers_guide_-_what_you_get_in_the_physical_and_digital_editions
Bought it last week. Still haven’t bothered to try it yet. Mainly because of Smash and I’ve just got back into Xenoblade.
I’m surprised they’re bothering with updates at all considering how miserably it’s sold.
Bought the Starfox physical set on sale... trying really hard not to get the LANCE now they at $12 at GameStop 😅
The game is well worth it at these prices.
@Shadows_Revenge
Thanks. I got the physical starter pack for £20 from Amazon last weekend and I didn't know there were differences. It doesn't bother me that I could have got more by buying digital, but I think it would have been better for the digital version to be much cheaper and come with less content, to encourage buying of the physical toys. I may fancy getting the digital deluxe if it's on sale as well. Would save a load on physical toys, but I bet they will bomb in price soon too.
@Alto
This is the same reason I stopped playing the game. The default controls are a mess. I wish they would allow us to remap the controls to our preference or at least have some more options.
Got the digital deluxe version on sale back at the end of November, but I've barely played it. Now may be a good time, but I'm also playing Everspace and Smash...
Sounds cool. I liked this game, but I definitely felt like it ended a little quickly, especially considering all the add-ons they expect you to buy. More content is definitely welcome.
I couldn't pass the discounted deal on this game.
@neufel That's the sale not the same.
@SigourneyBeaver alot if wishful thinking. As all signs are saying otherwise so other then holiday saless only. And I got mine with GCU so those prices are more or less what your seeing now. If I waited it would be even less for me. But then I wouldn't have as much fun.
I'm sad that this game didn't did better than it did. The gameplay is really solid and just flying around feels good. I feel that the toys-to-life was the thing that killed this game. Most gamers were fed up with the idea and just skipped it. It would have been cool to let you unlock the ships and the toys just gave you an easy access to them (or just working as an starter pack, like in Pokémon, to let you choose which one you wanna start with), but I guess this was just conceived a bit late.
@neufel hahah but true. here in swiss gamestop half price and they still aint selling.
@maddogx2x yeah I mean.... it really dampens the dogfighting for me. Beyond that, the game is great. It’s a definite recommendation minus the horrendous control setup. At that price, for what you’re getting, ya gotta buy the game though.
@SwitchForce Not the same from what?
If you create a magic difference between bargain bin / sale, don't blame me.
What I can tell you is that the Starlink battle standee is in the shop, and it's the only standee in the shop where several -50% stickers were put on. Doesn't scream "normal and healthy sale, expect normal prices to come back at the end of the sale".
Anyway, I only did a silly mean joke. Don't get too riled up on this my dude
@Anguspuss Yeah it's crazy. FNAC also has everything at half-price until december 31, but what seems even crazier is that mediamarkt sells the whole line for the same price as FNAC & Gamestop, yet doesn't advertise it as a sale.
50% off is their "normal price".
That makes me think the prices won't go up in the other retailers either.
Astral, you don't need any of the plastic toys to play the game. Not even with the physical starter pack. I simply gave my oldest son the ship and played all digital.
I've had no big issues with the controls; boosting & tilting the plane at the same time was slightly annoying at first but I got used to it, and everything else about the ship controls very well. My only problem is I finished it with all upgrades/mods maxed last week and feel no urge to return just for some new enemies. I'd go back for a new mission/story content but that's not gonna happen with those sales. Too bad, good promise in this game. Was much fun even if a bit repetitive.
Wow this is unexpected but great! Was a really solid game, shame it seemingly bombed though. Hope if they made enough to justify another they just ditch the toys all together.
I just got this game physical for 20 quid off Amazon, with the Arwing.
Now I only want to play as Fox McCloud and basically get my Star Fox fix. My question is, will I have to pay for anything else to get through Star Fox's campaign?
I'm so happy that I sold my game when it was full price. Don't get me wrong I had a lot of fun, I really love this game, but after three days with all ships, pilots and weapons I had 100% the hype was over for me. Played it with a friend and it was an awesome time, but it was just too less content, now it's too late.
@AstralOrange64
Uh, no you don't.
The game is fully playable without the plastic toys. In fact the digital version gives all content permanently unlocked, and even the physical version let's you use digitally once you connect the first time.
Curious to play this once I clear up some backlog on my Switch. (A persisting problem yet a funny one, considering how many quality games are on this system so far!)
@AstralOrange64 Just get the digital version like I did. Didn't touch a toy once and had access to all the content. It was great!
@Rohanrocks88 At least it is in Switzerland. Probably different between countries
If the price has dropped that much, I might have to get it!
Me and my brother picked it up for my nephew for christmas. Sadly we payed 35. There almost giving it away now sad for the people who forked out 70 for this.
Ubisoft+Free= 😱. There must be a mistake here.
@thesilverbrick totally agree. I liked the game but did almost everything in about 20h. Just traded it for smash this past weekend
i love this game. bought digital. no regrets. looking forward to photo mode
I got the starter pack at GameStop for half off I wanted the Star Fox Arwing to add to my amiibo collection and I am a little surprised at how nice the toys are though the Star Fox Arwing is the only one I want. Can also say the game is great, it took just a minute to get the hang of the controls to which the game has great tutorials for the only complaint I have is I would love if they would have added another camera option they have a behind the ship view and you can press on the R stick for a zoom feature , I would love it if you could zoom out behind the ship just a little further don't get me wrong it's not horrible how it is just would like to be able to zoom back a bit more . Anyone on the fence should definitely pick up the game it's a fantastic title and there is a ton to do .
Hopefully it's an update to give me the option to have shop keepers shut the Hell up when I upgrade their buildings.
Great game. Shame about the huge discounts so soon (within 2 months). Nintendo should offer some sort of eshop credit for those that bought early. While we all accept games get discounted, sometimes quite soon, it's never to this extreme.
@HalBailman
Why would Nintendo give you store credit when it’s not even their game?
NEKROM GLOOMGLOM
if you own the game already they discounted the pack with all dlc and no base game to 29 which for like all pilots ships and guns is a load of content
@BenGrimm The could suggest the developers do. Even $20 is something.
Though it’s a shame this game didn’t hit it big on release (I think they should’ve released a standalone physical copy without the toys), I hope people take the opportunity to buy it now that the price has dropped. It’s a well made game that deserves an audience.
@Mooj738 Good to know. Thanks!
You could argue the Physical Pack and then buying the discounted DLC is the best way to go as its £2-£4 more for a physical game and ship which you dont need then all the discounted DLC hmmmm so tempted to get all the DLC
Guys the game is great give it a chance and go buy it. Now it's the chance. It's not only the starfox experience that offers.its a really good game.
Slightly unrelated, but here's hoping they release Starfox Adventures HD on Switch
@Scottwood101 Would you say that game is very good? Asking because it seemed to attract very mixed opinions - many negative so It'd be nice to hear a positive take.
@brunojenso The only reason it receives negative reaction is because it wasn't a traditional Starfox game. As a game on its own merits though, it's great! It's a Zelda clone that never quite hits the heights of a Zelda game but it pushed it very close. Great combat, beautiful and interesting world, good puzzles, cut scenes etc.
A question to the folks that have already finished the game: what additional weapons would you recommend on the top of what is being offered in the physical starter pack? I read somewhere that some puzzles could not be completed without a specific type of weapon.
Photo modes should just be a more common thing in video games. It really does make the game much more fun!
@Scottwood101 Great! Thanks for the reply.
