Nintendo, alongside Pokémon development companies Creatures and Game Freak, has applied for a brand new trademark in Japan. The trademark is for 'ミラクルツイン', literally translating as 'Miracle Twin'.
According to JapaneseNintendo, the trademark is hoping to cover purposes including "controllers, joysticks, chargers, and parts and accessories for household video game machines, cards, toys and more". Interestingly, that list doesn't appear to relate specifically to video games or software, instead focusing more on hardware and physical toys.
Of course, any guesses at new products, services, or games that this trademark might relate to would be just that - guesses. It's impossible to know for sure what 'Miracle Twin' could be, but we're sure that won't stop you from speculating in the comments below. Here's a look at the trademark application itself:

Any wild guesses as to what this could be for? Let us know your thoughts below.

I feel like Nintendo in 2019 will be unstoppable.
It's going to be nothing. How short is people's memory? 'Delta Emerald'? 'Stars'?
Wasn't there a old Japanese SNES game called that? Maybe my memory is foggy.
could be something to do with Town.
@JJ286 Too early to tell but honestly topping 2017 won't be an easy feat at all. Would love to see them try, 2018's first half was kinda empty for me so amaze me Ninty
With Creatures and Game Freak (the main Pokemon developers) and Nintendo (Pokemon publisher) involved, I'd say it's related to Pokemon
Probably for that "Town" IP coming in 2019?
I don't think this applies to "Town" due to Creatures, Inc, being listed.
Considering we typically have two versions of a Pokémon, I immediately speculated it had something to do with the next gen of games, hence the use of twin in the phrase. But seeing as it doesn't seem to have any connection to a specific software, probably not.
I figured it had to do with a new movie title until I read that this had more to deal with hardware and toys. Hmm....
No idea what it is but I'll just assume for now that whatever it is, it'll be disappointing like pretty much everything Pokemon related in recent years.
Town? TPC usually registers their new Pokémon games when they are close to reveal them. I can't see a reveal now that Pokémon LG is still hot. A registration in February-May makes more sense.
If this is separate from Town, I'm glad Game Freak is starting to make it's own IPs.
I hadn't thought about Town before seeing everyone mention it. My thinking was either for a movie or the TCG.
@hatch Literal translations are virtually useless, despite what some anime fans might believe. I'm hoping for someone fluent in Japanese to shed any possible context on this phrase myself.
@Medic_alert I have but even if I am a fan of Animal Crossing I doubt it can be as much of a sales pusher like how Splatoon, MK8D and all were in 2017.
But in the end, 2019 didn't start yet so we may get a direct in Jan or Feb that reveals everything for next year so I hope we see a lot by then.
@Yasaal Animal Crossing is one of Nintendo's top IPs so it should be a huge sales pusher, though not as much as Mario Kart... not much is.
@Greator both of those where to prevent anyone from trademarking them in case they did decide to use them as well as to throw people off.
In this case I'm hoping it has nothing to do with pokemon or town but rather something else entirely. Game freak dose a lot better with games that are not pokemon because their not as scared to change things up or dumb things down with them. Examples being drill dozer and harmoknight
@roboshort @Medic_alert Yeah, hope we see a Nintendo Direct in Jan/Feb. As for me, I'll be playing Smash for the next whole year
