Switch A Short Hike

Another week has flown by with strange new trademarks, Mario sneakers and a revelation of the most painfully generic vidya game title Ubisoft's marketing team could produce (and there was something else about Mario, we think?), but now it's time to take a breather and chat about our weekend gaming plans.

Members of Nintendo Life have done just that below, and we'd love for you to join in via our poll and comment sections. Enjoy!

After beginning A Short Hike last weekend, I will be continuing said Short Hike this weekend (and no doubt finishing the Hike, too). There's not much to say that hasn't been said - it's a sheer delight.

Beyond enjoying the new autumnal hue of my Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, that'll be it for my Switch gaming. I recently splurged on a retro console I've wanted for a long time now: an Atari 2600. Actually, it's a pre-2600-branded VCS, and it's older than I am. It's one of the first consoles I remember playing at my grandparents' house and I'm intrigued to see how it holds up. For the sake of convenience, I went with an immaculate A/V modded model that outputs over composite, so it'll work on my modern telly.

Yes, composite isn't exactly bleeding edge where picture quality is concerned, but it'll be quite enough for this console. Looking forward to that new hardware smell. Ooo, musty,

All this Mario-related news has got me in the mood for some of his classic video games, so this weekend I'll be returning to the original All-Stars collection on the Super Nintendo via the Switch Online SNES service. I always love when Nintendo shadow drops retro releases like that during its broadcasts.

Apart from this, I'll probably be continuing my Jump Force playthrough. It might not be the best anime fighter from Bandai Namco in recent years, but I'm determined to see it through. Maybe I'll play some Arcade Archives Super Dodge Ball while I'm at it. Happy gaming, everyone!

This weekend, I'm just playing Mario games. Anything Mario. That Direct has me so pumped up, I cannot WAIT for all of these new releases. So, to celebrate (and temporarily quench my Mario thirst... which sounds weird now that I've typed it, but I'm gonna leave it anyway), I shall be making some progress in Paper Mario: The Origami King, digging out the old Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES online service, whippin' my kart in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, finishing up the Super Mario Odyssey postgame content I never got around to... and also, probably some Luigi's Mansion (that counts, right? Mario makes an appearance...). Wa-hoo!!

What games are you playing this weekend?
