Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game

DABYX

@Stocksy I'm sure you didn't mean any harm but my point was you (at least seemed) to be mocking a particular commenter over what they decide to do parenting wise.

Heck, you may not have even seen that comment beforehand but it seemed that way.

Also it's not really much of a matter to discuss. They changed it for whatever reason and that's it.
If people are screaming for removal due to controversy, so what?

Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game

DABYX

@Stocksy Not cool.

First off the article is giving a possible reason for the removal but it is most likely purely because the company now owns the property and therefore want to cement their name into it.

If it IS the case they want to distance themselves because of controversy then yea,it's not a giant world problem and it won't fix anything of great importance BUT

To blatantly just criticise someone's parenting choice, (with an obvious finger who to without actually admitting it and which isn't your business anyway) in a 'I'm superior because little things don't bother me' way is just moronic.

How about doing something active to fix major world problems instead of wasting time bashing people or how they live on the internet ey?

Re: Talking Point: What Does Google's Stadia Mean For Nintendo And The Future Of Gaming?

DABYX

Just my usual unwanted ramblings here.

I love physical, I do think there's a place for digital and I know everything will turn digital eventually much to my dismay.

However digital games and games that basically have constant DRM is another thing.

I'm sure plenty of people are fine with that but there's also a lot that aren't.
Everyone remember SimCity's contant connection woes?
Why I love GOG for PC goodness. It's not as good as physical but at least there's still options to play when and where and how you want!

Re: Google Reveals Stadia, Its Vision Of A Cloud Gaming Future

DABYX

@ALinkttPresent that made me chuckle.

No doubt plenty of people will buy into this. Because Google!! And the general populace, once entered into a bound contract will realise they cant play the games they want because they are either taken down or their internet is sh#@$ will be upset.

Unfortunately I highly doubt they will let you exit early without a major fee (much like phones etc) so they'll already have your money.

The best thing to do as gamers is spread the word of how uttor tosh this is (unless you happen to be the % who loves streaming and has a very decent internet connection. I'm sure you're all for it!)

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Be Concerned About Google's Play For Gamers?

DABYX

@JasmineDragon Fair enough, I did think afterward that I haven't actually been up on any information regarding sales for a while.
Was mostly musing about my personal experiences I guess.

I suppose my point I was trying to make overall (though I am tired mind lol)
is that there seems to be more of a split market with books and they can both live together whereas gaming, I reckon there is again a split market but it seems (again, my experiences!) that it just keeps pushing toward paying more for less.

I guess the Switch is a spit in the eye in some respects.

Anyway, enough of my rambles!!

Ta for the corrections

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Be Concerned About Google's Play For Gamers?

DABYX

I'm sure whatever Google does will have a giant impact as well as whatever other companies do.

There will however, (now I'm assuming here...) always be an audience for the alternative.

I for one think streaming games is bonkers and would not enjoy an industry based around it.
Not for reasons such as connectivity/owning etc which are also a consideration, but because I like to choose when and what to play.

It is already on the cusp of becoming tedious for myself but I can't imagine wanting to finally play a game I had on the backburner only for the publisher to have taken it off stream due to lessened playerbase.

I've seen comments from people like myself on here and other places that also dislike some modern practices who I guess would feel the same about streaming games.

It's funny how the videogames industry seems to get more and more pro publisher and anti consumer yet books have taken a massive turn and gone back to roots with ebooks (mostly) taking a back seat.

Re: Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet Won’t Be Released In Europe Or North America

DABYX

In other news, the backwards town where I live had people donning blackface for charity and then everyone up in arms when the money was declined.

I'd much rather that be a game than my real existence lol.

I don't see the problem with things like this personally (as long as there isn't actual abuse or something in the games!)
I just find it embarrassing myself.

Re: Nintendo Switch Firmware 7.0.0 Already Hacked Just Four Hours After Going Live

DABYX

I've ranted about hacking before and had my mind chamged on some aspects and also still stand firm on other aspects.

Thing is, Nintendo aren't updating firmware and trying to prevent hackers because they hate themes etcetc.
It's because people are using these consoles online either while pirating games/cheating or even playing legit but with a hacked console.

Does anyone really think there's a bunch of tech guys going "hey we need to patch our consoles because some people are sitting at home adding new themes".

I mean maybe... but the scene undeniably creates cheating and piracy and that is why efforts are directed to updates and patches.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

DABYX

When I see people talk about the reasons they buy physical it's usually talk about resale or having a large collection or even that it's cheaper.

Those things can be factors but for myself (and the missus probably) it's mostly the fact I can go into a shop and pick up a darn item, browse in a normal way and leave the same day.

That and supporting other retailers/distributors and not giving 100% control. The digital age has already started to give us less for more money, even the state of physical boxes are sub par nowadays.
But that's more my grumpy old man mindset, I'm all for digital for others just don't want physical to disappear like a lot of shops have

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Revisits DOOM On The Nintendo Switch

DABYX

Can't believe I have still yet to get this (I blame poor ratio of funds-to-quality games!)
Will have to pop into a shop come next year for it.
There's some aspects of modern gaming that irk me but when devs keep patching like this or adding content much later it is a very big plus and reninds me of older PC gaming in a good way.

Re: Random: Backpack Kid Suing Epic For Inclusion Of Floss Dance Move In Fortnite

DABYX

@Ttimer5 I think because it's cool to hate. Like the whole COD hate crowd.
It's a videogame version of freakin' battle royale with cosmetic-only dlc and no lootboxes and ftp. It should be praised if anything.

That and it probably boosted the Switch in the public eye when it was announced.

I enjoyed it for a while but things like the events that online games have make it more a chore for my preferred playstyle.
