Note: The following trailer contains frequent bad language.
Bethesda has confirmed that it will be bringing more juicy Wolfenstein content to Switch this summer, as Wolfenstein: Youngblood secures a 26th July release date. A brand new trailer has been shared to reveal all.
As you can see at the end of the video above, the game is arriving on Switch on the same day as all other platforms along with a Deluxe Edition. This special release features a 'Buddy Pass' which lets you invite a friend to play - even if they don't own the game - as well as a Cyborg Skin Pack, decking out the Blazkowicz sisters in titanium alloy versions of their Power Suits, guns, combat knives, and hatchets.
Here's a quick synopsis:
BJ Blazkowicz, hero of the second American Revolution, is missing. Nineteen years after the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, BJ has disappeared after a mission into Nazi-occupied Paris. Now, after years of training and guidance from their battle-hardened father, BJ’s twin daughters Jess and Soph are forced into action. Team up with a new cast of freedom fighters and brave the unsettling sights and sounds of twisted, alternate reality 1980s Paris.
Pre-ordering the game also grants access to the Legacy Pack, giving players the chance to gear up with some of BJ’s iconic outfits and weapons from the series including New Colossus and US Army Power Suit skins, a WW2 skins set, and the Old Blood pipe and knife.
Are you feeling pumped for this? Will you be getting your hands on it as soon as it blasts onto Switch? Let us know in the comments below.

From what I heard the standard edition is digital only on all platforms in the SEA region, I don't mind because especially on the Switch the game would not be fully on the cartridge.
I'm buying this game day one. Bethesda has screw gamers with Fallout 76 but it has done good for Switch.
That reminds me, never finished The New Collossus. I don’t know why but it failed to grab me as well as the original. Also didn’t like the supporting cast as much or the rumbling about in the main hub.
Day 1, especially since it's only $30 for the standard edition
Day one deluxe version please.
Really cool that the switch is arriving the same day as the other platforms for once
Wow, this looks like pure unfiltered, filthy mouthed fun! I think I like it.
i gotta get Wolfenstein 2 still, but i'm definitely interested in this.
Well, if its all on the cart this time I'll give it some proper consideration. Still haven't got Wolf2 because of their epic FU with that release.
The voices and dialogue for the twins are cringy. But i shouldn't be surprised, Wolf 2 was like this as well.
Wonderful times we live in, where Bethesda, of all publishers, is one of the strongest supporters of a Nintendo console.
Bethesda, you may have screwed everyone over with Fallout 76, but you've done well with Nintendo players.
With this one being created from the ground up with the Switch in mind (like DOOM Eternal), I can't wait to see how it performs differently from The New Colossus. But even if its the same as that it would still be Day 1 for me as that performed awesomely, especially after the patches
Come on commenters, don’t give Bethesda the credit. ID Software make the games, and Panic Button port then. All Bethesda is doing is the publishing.
Damn... That is the game I'm waiting for... just loved the previous one. They could even bring the first one
Honestly I'll probably get both a Switch and PS4 copy of both this and Doom Eternal.
I'm confused, is this a brand new game or just an expansion of the Wolf?
Definitely a day one purchase.
Yes, I wanted it. Mine day one.
killings nazi's in retro 80s, should be fecking amazing, if they had some 80's tunes in there that would be the cherry
Same day as Fire Emblem 3 Houses
RIP wallet
Same date as Fire Emblem: Three Houses...yeah, I know what I’m going to buy that day. Sorry, Bethesda.
Day one purchase - loved Wolf II - love the support they've given the Switch... Love playing games of this quality on the move, makes my commute flllllyyyy by
Day one purchase. It is also co-op so that's great, I'll have my girl play through the campaign with me😊.
Oh man the last game was so good! I am hyped for this.
I thoroughly enjoyed blasting through Doom (once gyro was patched in) and Wolf II. This is an easy Day 1 for me. It’s over the top nonsense with some serious firepower.
This looks amazing! Getting this day 1!
I was going to wait for the eventual patch that made the game better, but seeing how this is is only $30 ($40 for the deluxe) across all systems, I need to support that. Preordered!
@Rayquaza2510 Im pretty sure the whole game going to be there or there wouldn't even be a game
Was expecting this to come tout switch. Nice to see it confirmed
Is the Switch version handled by Machine Games themselves or is it ported by someone else, like Panic Button?
Well the "buddy pass" is going to force me to get it on PC 😀
That said, this is great news!!!!. These are the announcement the Switch needs!!! 👍
@JoakimZ I don't think it's been confirmed Panic Button are involved but it's likely they are. Past rumours suggested they were doing the port.
Killing Nazis is a tried and true enterprise and brother, business is booming!
I’m definitely picking this sick puppy up for both my Switch and PS4.
Is the buddy pass cross platform?
looks good but that aint no switch footage.
It looks like it's being partially worked on by arkane Studios. I love their games as well.
@Audigore0733 Wolfenstein 2 is on a 16gb cartridge, rest is download.
The game is not fully on the cartridge because the rest of it is a download, that's what I mean.
I wish I could have fallen in love with Wolfenstein 2 but FPS just aren't for me. Guess I'll be grabbing Fire Emblem Three Houses instead.
@Rafke Thanks, that is great then!
I have Wolf 2 and liked a lot so this is a day one purchase for me !
I'm all over this
Yes, yes, and yes
Day one baby!
Can't watch video for a while.
Is the buddy pass for Switch also?
And anyone know if there is versus like Doom or is it campaign purely?
Bethesda showing activision how it’s done.
Day one buy that is for sure
How was the 1st one on Switch? Do I need to play that first?
Just preordered my deluxe copy. Man, I can't wait, the buddy pass is such a great way to make this even more enjoyable.
Awesome, I HAVE to get Wolf2 in Switch before this comes out. DOOM was the first game I bought for my Switch and I still love it.
Day one. I’ve been waiting for info on it’s release. I’m a little thrown by the $30 price tag for standard- is it incredibly short?
@CR0J0 I immensely enjoyed Wolf 2 on Switch. I’ve never played any of the series before or had any clue what I was really getting into but it was fantastic. Ran very well on Switch, gameplay was good, story was an interesting take. Easily one of my favorite game experiences on switch.
@CR0J0
So I think the best way to answer that is how much does graphics really matter to you? I played it on Switch and I had a bloody good time with it. I think the best way to sum it up is with pros and cons:
Pros:
All levels are entirely intact. There was no level chopping at all, and it's all there as it was on any other platform.
HD rumble - You can hold two different guns, and both will have distinct rumbles if you're playing with the joy-cons (and I believe the pro controller too). I think it's the best use of HD rumble I've seen from a game on Switch.
Motion aiming - Don't have to use it, but I think it's nice for extra precision.
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway — it's portable, and that's awesome.
Cons:
The most obvious is the graphical hit. It's not going to win any awards there. The image is overall blurry and some text on certain textures are basically unreadable. When it's in motion, you don't notice so much, and handheld mode hides it pretty well. But in cut scenes you'll really notice it.
Frame rate - It shoots (ha!) for 30fps, half of what it is on other consoles, and it achieves that 90% of the time. The only real trouble spot is in the New Orleans level. It's not unplayable, but the frame rate does dip a little in the heat of battle.
If you buy physically. You will have to download 7 or 8 GB of additional data before you can play. Just something to keep in mind if you go that route.
Overall, it's a very good port, but you should know what you're getting if you buy it on Switch. That said, I'm pretty sure that the folks over at Panic Button are basically wizards and it's really amazing that they got it working on Switch in the first place. And in terms of story, I mean, you probably could just jump into Youngblood no problem, but I don't know how much it's going to pull from the prior game(s). But if you just go for Youngblood, I think all you really need to know is that it stars BJ Blazkowicz's kids and he's gone missing. Honestly, it probably won't really deter your fun if you haven't played Wolf 2, but there will probably be some story elements that go over your head.
Hope that helps. I recommend Wolf 2, but that's just some overall guidance for you.
Looks good but why so much swearing and all that???
Nice carpenter brut tunes!
Looks great but the PG-13 young adult characters and their sass mouths are gonna get old very quick. Actually it happened by the end of the trailer.
@MoonKnight7 that was a great breakdown, thank you.
While good graphics are nice, I actually used to play all of my games on 3DS, so I'm actually super happy with 720p in handheld most of the time because it's still such a big step up from my 240p 3DS screen.
I'll probably wait for a sale since there's likely to be one close to Youngblood's launch, but you've sold me on it. I'm hooked on Warframe right now anyways, that game kicks ass.
Thanks!
@Mamabear Awesome! I'm playing Warframe right now but will wait until this goes on sale, thanks!
Looks great but man the dialogue is just terrible!! Why do people still feel swearing every 2nd word is cool. lol
@Giygas_95 I was literally thinking the same except for PC
@Rayquaza2510 The fact that it’s not fully on the cartridge is a decision that the publisher is making - it’s not like it has to be that way - so to me, it’s annoying overall.
It feels kind of weird knowing that Blazkowicz drove the Nazis out of the US considering we still haven't seen Wolfenstein 3 which will probably be set in the 60s or 70s when he actually does defeat them.
@codyf Gotta have that pretty version and that portable version am I right?
@Akira_1975 Yeah, that gets annoying. I could understand it back in like the late 90s and early 2000s when this much language in video games was kind of rare and developers were starting to push boundaries like that but now it's just like I'd rather have well written dialogue instead of swearing every 10 seconds. Well, I suppose it's realistic depending upon the people you hang out with. Doom 2016 was a good example of a game in my opinion that had pretty well written dialogue and didn't fall back on characters swearing all the time.
@Indominus_B You are very wrong about the graphics looking the same on the Switch, but good for you if you think so. I got Doom on PC first. Fantastic game, but I never got around to playing it much. Then I got it on Switch and I couldn't stop playing it. It definitely looks much worse, and 30 fps makes it significantly more difficult. But it's just so much more convenient to have it on a console that you can also use as a portable.
@Indominus_B pretty sure it has to do with gameplay not graphics, why do you think people crank games up above 100 fps on pc if there's no noticeable difference?
Day 1 for sure. Loved the New Colossus
Does anyone know if Panic Button is doing the Switch version? Hope so they are miracle workers
Looks really nice! I want it!
@Indominus_B you're 100% correct. I remember how Arcade to home consoles and computers were handled in the 80's and 90's. Most had to offer a completely new experience (like Ninja Gaiden and Bionic Commando on the NES) to be able to compete. This 12k@720fps discourse would deem the SNES Street Fighter II port "unplayable" -_-
@Indominus_B
Nail on the head. Its crazy to see people downplay these big games on a handheld/running on mobile hardware. Especially since back in the 3DS/Vita days, people would've been tripping over themselves to buy games of these caliber on a handheld.
You can’t preorder the Switch version?? WTH?
Same day as Fire Emblem? Oh dear
I should get wolfenstein 2 for switch before i grab this. But at $30 maybe I'll just get this first.
Hope the level design is good. Something about that dialogue bugs me though. A little TOO “extreme” like “Nazis suck, let’s grab some dew!” kinda bad. Plus the rest of the dialogue was the cliche stuff you hear in all action movies. Typically this stuff wouldn’t bug me but Bethesda has been selling gamers on Wolfenstein’s story lately.
Oh boy, can't wait for another 20 hour movie and ten seconds of gameplay. ;P
@DarkLloyd it's a guy thing my fps is bigger then your fps.
@Rayquaza2510 Well I guess so I just hope its good
@Indominus_B As I said, I preferred the Switch version, because I get to play the game on my Switch. This also means that the downgrade in graphics and framerate is minor enough that I still enjoy the Switch version more. Now, I don't know which one of us is in the majority regarding how framerate affects playability in fast fps games, and I definitely don't care, but it's pretty clear we have different opinions AND that both of these opinions are pretty common. Of course, I won't argue that you should change your opinion about how it affects YOUR enjoyment of the game, but I believe your opinion on how it affects MY enjoyment of the game to be wrong.
@Indominus_B Oh, by the way, I'm forty years old, so I have played on many different computers and consoles throughout the 80's, 90's and so on. Higher framerate definitely makes a game more enjoyable to me, but one of my favourite games of all time is Majora's Mask on the N64. It's as good today as it was back then, in glorious 17 fps.
