Re: PlatinumGames CEO Insists 'Freedom' Would Be Important In Any Takeover Talks

DABYX

Going to state the obvious here but heyho... Buyouts can be good or bad. Once struggling studios can be given extra years to produce the games you love or IPs can be buried along with studios that the buyer deems 'unprofitable'.

And while we all hope that all these buyouts will be a good thing, especially after promises made regarding multiplatforms etc, having two major powerhouses owning everything does not sit well with me...

Hello Amazon and Google for example.

But it will happen regardless so what can you do. Much like NFT. The money suits want it so it will carry on regardless.

Re: Poll: Do You Have An Issue With Xenoblade Chronicles' Accents?

DABYX

I'm probably going to get hate for this and also I have never played a title all the way through but I'm British and Shulk, Rex etc all sound like just...bad voice acting to me.
Like kids in a bland childrens movie there doesn't seem to be a huge range of emotion or vocal range.

When I played the Dragon Quest demo that was fine.

Maybe it's just because all I've ever seen is trailers but it's just not my bag.

Re: No Man's Sky Has Been Secretly In The Works For Two Years, And There's More Info To Come

DABYX

I won't be buying it as I have it on PC but glad and amazed it has been ported.

I picked up the game a couple of years after release so never really saw it in the bare-bones stage. If you like the idea of exploring and resource gathering, fixing ships, buying ships and more then I'd definitely get it.
The only downside for me is the fauna generation (they all start to look bery samey after a couple of planet visits)

Oh and hopefully you can play offline as is my preffered way. If you dislike the idea of coming across galaxies called poobumwee or hitler references...sigh.

Re: Switch Publisher RedDeer.Games "Enters The World Of NFTs"

DABYX

Seeing as they say how they are looking to aquire funding for the 'venture' this reads to me more like they see NFT as a quick way to grab some cash from some rich,NFT-loving hoo-ha.

You know like how shareholders sometimes dictate what companies do but the opposite.

And some people are mad because they worry about their hobby being (even more) taken for a ride by the rich and stupid.

Re: Random: Here's The Nintendo Switch-Like Steam Deck Compared To Some Other Stuff

DABYX

@Joeynator3000 Idk if someone helped you with this but I wouldn't think the TV would really be an issue (unless it's like CRT)
I have an AMD that is worse than ur GPU and it was hooked to an older TV and now a slightly newer but still nothing amazing.

Is it connected via HDMI?
Is the TV display set to game mode, all enhancement settings off?
PC video settings set to 1080p (or better?)

I'm thinking there must be a setting somewhere along the line. Even if the TV won't do 1080 then game settings should still be able to be set higher graphics but lower resolution.

Re: Nintendo Obtains High Court Injunction Against Internet Service Providers To Block Switch Pirates

DABYX

@somebread I understand the difference but can you can honestly believe that the person(s) involved in the Luigi images would have been capable of doing so without access to pirate and hacking websites for the current gen? I actually have great respect for people who hack hardware of games and consoles of the past.

It's like how a lot of people advocate for preservation and piracy is fine because they themselves are only doing so for games they wouldn't buy without looking at the bigger picture of current games that are for sale and the cost of developing, marketing, producing physical products and that a lot of people are pirating current games so they don't have to buy any.

In regards to hacking the Switch I have had this conversation before and no one seems to understand that yes, it is okay to do whatever the heck you want with the product you own but if you share those means then you are giving the opportunity to other people to pirate, ruin online experiences and reduce the profit for the people involved in the games creation.

Re: Ubisoft Staff Are Leaving Their Jobs In Droves, Report Claims

DABYX

Sad to hear that the company has been involved in workplace abuse/bad environment etc. and hope that if true it stops soon!

On the note of games maybe I've been lucky with my purchases and I know I'm more easy going then a lot of gamers but I've always found Ubisoft games great.

Mario + Rabbids, Just Dance, Phoenix Eternal Rising(brill game) and Starlink are all fab.
Whenever I see people comparing them to EA it's usually regarding Assassin's Creed games which I haven't played so maybe it's that.

Edit: Got that title completely wrong 😅 - Immortals Fenyx Rising

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl's Affection Rates?

DABYX

I don't mind the inclusion too much (but can see why it would bother players with strategies who are less casual) but wish it was harder for it to happen.
Shield was far too easy but my main team only got to the 'op friendship' stage nearer the end whereas I'm swapping pokemon a lot thanks to exp share and portable box but a couple are already op after the 2nd gym :/

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Make Dominant Debut

DABYX

I haven't got my copies yet (ruddy post!) but it's funny because I generally hate the average 'mobile' aesthetic. Even vector art 2d games remind me of flash games and am (probably un-deservedly) put off by them.

But watching the trailers I actually like the graphics presented here. I think it fits and reminds me of the older games but updated.

I don't think it's as cheap looking as a lot of people do.
Guess a lot of others agree.

Re: Cooking Mama For Switch Will Feature A Vegetarian Mode And Blockchain Tech

DABYX

Aw man I told the missus I doubt amy Cooking Mama game will cone to Switch after looking up how long it has been and the various publishers etc.

However I'll be honest, I have no clue what most of this is talking about lol.
Was worried it was a mostly online fare or buy game money. Doesn't look like it though if I'm reading correctly.

We'll be in for it if it is still offline friendly and fun 😁

Re: Turok 2 On Nintendo Switch Doesn't Include Multiplayer

DABYX

Added to wishlist but now meh. Removing until multiplayer confirmed.
This statement sounds like there will never be splitscreen etc and they will just add general patches.

Edit: just saw Onions comment. Ta for that info.
I may still be skipping it personally however as splitscreen is favourable for my situation.
