Lightgun games are probably the only things that have survived in arcades in my personal experience. Maybe a dance game or two. My local(ish) arcade has Jurassic Park, Terminator and used to have a couple more but since been set aside for more...you guessed it, pay to win gambling machines for kids!
@piecez Yea I won't judge anyone for 'obtaining' games that you can't get anymore (even though they have been available for a while and they are giving notice and a year to download) but what you say is true.
Going to state the obvious here but heyho... Buyouts can be good or bad. Once struggling studios can be given extra years to produce the games you love or IPs can be buried along with studios that the buyer deems 'unprofitable'.
And while we all hope that all these buyouts will be a good thing, especially after promises made regarding multiplatforms etc, having two major powerhouses owning everything does not sit well with me...
Hello Amazon and Google for example.
But it will happen regardless so what can you do. Much like NFT. The money suits want it so it will carry on regardless.
I'm probably going to get hate for this and also I have never played a title all the way through but I'm British and Shulk, Rex etc all sound like just...bad voice acting to me. Like kids in a bland childrens movie there doesn't seem to be a huge range of emotion or vocal range.
When I played the Dragon Quest demo that was fine.
Maybe it's just because all I've ever seen is trailers but it's just not my bag.
@Gwynbleidd PC version doesn't need that good of machine does it? Especially after recent patches. I run a 10-12ish year old system with a AMD Rx570 on high 1080p.
I won't be buying it as I have it on PC but glad and amazed it has been ported.
I picked up the game a couple of years after release so never really saw it in the bare-bones stage. If you like the idea of exploring and resource gathering, fixing ships, buying ships and more then I'd definitely get it. The only downside for me is the fauna generation (they all start to look bery samey after a couple of planet visits)
Oh and hopefully you can play offline as is my preffered way. If you dislike the idea of coming across galaxies called poobumwee or hitler references...sigh.
@Poco_Lypso Sure. I'm sure a lot people wouldn't pirate if they had the means or wouldn't buy anyway but a lot would even if they could afford it but just don't want to as well.
@Poco_Lypso Don'twant to sound rude (but I know it will because, internet) but thinking that all people who pirate wouldn't have bought it anyway and can't afford anything is a bit naive.
@ModdedInkling oh well guess I'm just not as knowledgeable. I do have skyward but never on the Wii. I just thought for what it does, the joycons would be good for it.
This looks alright, not 100 my tea but the more couch coop the better!
@OldManHermit Conan Dark Axe (I think it's called) for Gamecube and probably Ps2, Xbox is pretty cool. There's a lot of bugs and the AI is uhhh...interesting but it's actually one of the games I've had most fun with ever.
I'm not usually one for 'HD-2D' but this looks alright and seems interesting. (Maybe because it doesn't seem to throw 100's of particles, lens flares and other light effects at your retinas) Would prefer physical though.
Seeing as they say how they are looking to aquire funding for the 'venture' this reads to me more like they see NFT as a quick way to grab some cash from some rich,NFT-loving hoo-ha.
You know like how shareholders sometimes dictate what companies do but the opposite.
And some people are mad because they worry about their hobby being (even more) taken for a ride by the rich and stupid.
@Joeynator3000 Idk if someone helped you with this but I wouldn't think the TV would really be an issue (unless it's like CRT) I have an AMD that is worse than ur GPU and it was hooked to an older TV and now a slightly newer but still nothing amazing.
Is it connected via HDMI? Is the TV display set to game mode, all enhancement settings off? PC video settings set to 1080p (or better?)
I'm thinking there must be a setting somewhere along the line. Even if the TV won't do 1080 then game settings should still be able to be set higher graphics but lower resolution.
Idk if it has been said already but there's also the staff to think about here. No giant corporation is going to buy multiple smaller companies and NOT cut back on staff.
They may not do it right away to look like they are the good guys but it will happen.
@somebread I understand the difference but can you can honestly believe that the person(s) involved in the Luigi images would have been capable of doing so without access to pirate and hacking websites for the current gen? I actually have great respect for people who hack hardware of games and consoles of the past.
It's like how a lot of people advocate for preservation and piracy is fine because they themselves are only doing so for games they wouldn't buy without looking at the bigger picture of current games that are for sale and the cost of developing, marketing, producing physical products and that a lot of people are pirating current games so they don't have to buy any.
In regards to hacking the Switch I have had this conversation before and no one seems to understand that yes, it is okay to do whatever the heck you want with the product you own but if you share those means then you are giving the opportunity to other people to pirate, ruin online experiences and reduce the profit for the people involved in the games creation.
@somebread If you don't understand how pirates and hackers sharing pirated and hacked software can enable people to circumvent online protections because the games are pirated and hacked then idk what to say.
@sanderev It's not even just about piracy as theft or even protecting IP. Remember Luigi's balloon world having indecent images from almighty godlike hackers.
I'm not 100% against preserving game roms and the like (but do have my owned skewed 'morals' on it) but reading the comment section anywhere about this topic just goes to show how ignorant, childminded, oblivious and selfish a lot of 'gamers' are.
Sad to hear that the company has been involved in workplace abuse/bad environment etc. and hope that if true it stops soon!
On the note of games maybe I've been lucky with my purchases and I know I'm more easy going then a lot of gamers but I've always found Ubisoft games great.
Mario + Rabbids, Just Dance, Phoenix Eternal Rising(brill game) and Starlink are all fab.
Whenever I see people comparing them to EA it's usually regarding Assassin's Creed games which I haven't played so maybe it's that.
Edit: Got that title completely wrong 😅 - Immortals Fenyx Rising
@Imerion I actually read the small print. It's the dumbest thing ever. Each match you win adds to a tournament score and you can play an unlimited number of battles. So the only ones who will win are those who can play from 1-4 for 3 hrs straight.
That's bonkers. I thought it may have been like the normal online tournament mode but multiples.
Wanted to see the first film at the cinema but missed it. Just watched it on Netflix and loved it, can't wait for 2! And the fact Tails AND Knuckles is in it well that's awesome.
So do we have to start at 1 o'clock on the dot? Can we start at 4? Is it 'win as many as you possibly can in the time limit'? Win one and have to wait for the next round?
The email I got and this article doesn't explain it well enough for my feeble excuse for a brain.
Not that I'll even win the first fight but would be fun to enter.
I don't mind the inclusion too much (but can see why it would bother players with strategies who are less casual) but wish it was harder for it to happen. Shield was far too easy but my main team only got to the 'op friendship' stage nearer the end whereas I'm swapping pokemon a lot thanks to exp share and portable box but a couple are already op after the 2nd gym :/
Not played any newer fighting games in ages but I gotta ask, why the heck is Street Fighter a Playstation exclusive?! That's insane! I mean it's good that is is on PC too but not being available on a similar powered system (Xbox) makes no sense to me.
I haven't got my copies yet (ruddy post!) but it's funny because I generally hate the average 'mobile' aesthetic. Even vector art 2d games remind me of flash games and am (probably un-deservedly) put off by them.
But watching the trailers I actually like the graphics presented here. I think it fits and reminds me of the older games but updated.
I don't think it's as cheap looking as a lot of people do.
Guess a lot of others agree.
@larryisaman I was late to No Man's Sky so take my opinion how you want but they have released so much content for so long without any extra pennies required. Seem pretty cool in my book.

@victordamazio I think the IP holders if still filing trademarks will still have the rights.
For example Alice in Wonderland is public domain but if you made an animation or drawing that looks like Disney's Alice, blue dress etc then they have the right to take action.
Everone talking about exp share making it too easy but what about the fact it tells you which moves are super effective vs the pokemon.
Surely that is even worse! Takes away any thought whatsoever. Imagine playing chess but a champion player tells you where to move. At that point you are just playing a clicking simulator.
Aw man I told the missus I doubt amy Cooking Mama game will cone to Switch after looking up how long it has been and the various publishers etc.
