All of them look good, but I picked the Japanese box art. I like the sunset and it has a slightly larger scale (you can see Koopa Beach in the background). Not to mention I like Mario's reaction to getting first place
I like how the US and EU covers show the use of items, but where's that banana peel being thrown from? It wasn't thrown by any of the racers, for goodness sake. lol
And yes, poor Toad bringing up the rear. He's my best character, too. At least he's still having a good time!
@Aaronnnnn Yeah I agree, I've been having my red New 3DS XL since Christmas 2015 and I still love it. I have a ton of games for it so it's not going away. I'm thinking Nintendo's treating it as a budget system, so they ditched the models that have the 3D screen. It's a bit of a bummer, but alas...they gotta focus on the Switch.
@RupeeClock Yeah, I also agree with you there. Personally I would've picked Super Mario World sprites or even those from Super Mario All-Stars, to go alongside the Sonic sprites. I'm not really the biggest fan of SMB1's sprites, as iconic as they are.
Other than that, the 2D events look fun. I'll definitely try them out when I pick it up.
Pretty cool to see! I used to watch the VHS tapes of the SMB Super Show and SMB3 cartoons as a kid. I've always been interested in how animated cartoons/films were made, too.
Just played as Hero for a bit. He has a solid moveset, my favorite move is the neutral special (the one where you charge/shoot the fireball). His side special is pretty good too. Not a fan of his down special though, it's a bit too complicated and luck-based for my liking. It does have its uses, though.
@rjejr Yes, you can get the DLC costumes with the gold coins. Same applies with anything with a price tag on the Switch eShop.
@DrLockdown Yeah, I see that all the time. It's been happening since Red and Blue came out. Nearly every time I see someone playing their Game Boy or 3DS, they're always, always playing Pokemon. lol
@Dev893 Oh good, someone else who hates the lightning cloud. That thing needs to go lay down
I have one game voucher left, I already used my first one on Super Mario Maker 2. Not sure what game I should use my last voucher on at the moment (maybe I'll use it on Animal Crossing: New Horizons since I can just hop into my island without having to change cartridges). I'm not sure if I want another pair, as I have too many games in my backlog and they cost quite a bit.
I think Nintendo should have the game vouchers available periodically. Like, maybe offer them yearly? This was a pretty good perk for those of us who have access to NSO.
Good update. Not sure if I will make that many, but I did upload 5 levels so far and I enjoy making my own.
More game styles would be great (I'm still hoping for an Odyssey game style). Online multiplayer needs some work, though. I would've made it work like Mario Kart's online where it doesn't lag and predicts where other players are. After all, you're racing toward the goal! If that means just passing through other players instead of picking them up, so be it.
Funny how it's placed under "Nintendo 3DS/Wii U software/digital content." Anyway, at least it's a step up from what My Nintendo has been offering in the US. Still no physical rewards though
Super Mario Maker 2, as well as Tetris 99 to get the Splatoon theme. I'll be playing Banjo-Kazooie too. Maybe play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for a bit as well.
I have no problem with Nintendo continuing to sell 3DS's, as there's a lot of great games for it (Virtual Console games included, plus SNES games for New 3DS owners) and it's very affordable. But yeah... sooner or later demand will decrease, especially since Switch Lite is now a thing.
@Anti-Matter I'm not sure if that will happen. Nintendo's been only giving the 3DS stability updates lately, so it probably won't happen. Same thing with the Wii U. I agree though, it would be great to have both 3DS and Wii U region-free.
My only concern is that we may have to keep transferring our saves from the OG to Lite and vice versa, if we want a smaller Switch to take with us or want to play on the TV. If that's the case, no thanks...it already took a while to transfer all my save data and games to my New 3DS XL. The Switch Lite looks cool, don't get me wrong. I just hope that won't happen for those who want to have two different versions of the Switch.
I got the online sub for the online play and cloud saves. Now that Super Mario Maker 2 is out, I'm getting more good use out of it thanks to me being able to play everyone's levels. Tetris 99 is pretty good and I even got the game vouchers, so I pretty much got more bang for my buck by having access to the online and a pair of $60 games. If I were to have longer access to NSO, though, I'll probably use my gold coins for another 1-year sub, that way I save another $20. I have enough gold coins for it and they're going to expire.
With all that said, here's what I would do with the service:
1) Have better servers for games 2) Expand the retro game library (I love the idea of NES Online, but only having NES games is boring... SNES, N64, and GameCube games would be rad. Have "Switch Online Gold" with those three platforms if they want to) 3) Don't pick and choose which games don't get to have cloud saves 4) Add friend messaging 5) Let players use headsets for voice chat 6) Make more games that let players join friends (Nintendo's been weird with that...)
If they do all that, the NSO numbers might increase quite a bit.
Multiple themes would be great - I would love to have a Mario theme myself! I wonder if Splatoon music will be playing if you have that theme equipped (example: when there's 10 players remaining, Now or Never starts playing).
Really sad to hear that he passed away... Rest in peace and my best wishes go to his family and friends.
I went through some difficult moments in my life, I'm not gonna lie... but I don't give up. Ever. Life is just way too precious to have, plus I have a career to live up to. Re: Poll: Astral Chain Is Out Today, Are You Getting It?
I'll probably wait it out a bit. The game looks awesome, but I have other games in my backlog, not to mention my semester started this week.
