@nessisonett 2049 was definitely but needed but the cinematography, special effects, and acting were all amazing. I don't remember the last time I was so impressed with special effects and cinematography. Of course that's not all that makes a movie, but I greatly enjoyed the plot as well. Even if it wasn't a necessary sequel.

@nessisonett Did you see Blade Runner 2049? The director was shocked they let him make another film after doing poorly in the box office. Though the film was amazing in many ways. Maybe they let him keep his film, Dune, as long as the company got to sell toys and put characters in Fortnite etc?

I hope everyone sees this movie. It looks amazing. The first book is amazing. Fork knife though... I've never personally been into it.

I got the free Piranha Plant... But those prices are absurd. If every original fighter and level read the price of the DLC you'd have to pay over $400 for the game.

If they had made the normal NSO more with it I could see people thinking this may be good. But with the slow trickle of mediocre games for the NES and SNES it's hard to believe this will be great.

@faint you're probably right. I checked it a few months, maybe two months, ago and on the Game Trials page the last thing listed was from 2020. Bummed I missed CTR.

@WallyWest I didn't think that's even close to true. There's videos of professional AV technicians saying 4k OLED looks better than 8k non OLED. I'd also 1080 to 4k was a pretty small jump. But I've only seen TVs that are 65inch and smaller that aren't OLED.

@Zag_Man yeah, I recently got a phone that's OLED and it's not a huge jump. But having a larger TV it is amazing. I imagine with something like the Switch though it would be a big jump as well.

@Zag_Man You've probably never played a game or watched a movie on an OLED before. It's as big of a jump as HD over standard definition.

Unfortunately my game is arriving in a country I'm not currently in... Have to wait until December to play. I only hope that it lasts more than 5-10 hours like most previous 2D Metroids.

That's amazing! I wanted Captain toad, but growing up KH was my wife's favorite game so I'm sure she'll be excited. Haven't finished the video yet, but I am definitely excited to see his final smash.

@Silly_G Also it's a lot less detailed. Seems kind of lazy to me, but it is cool it looks similar I guess? They probably could have just used the old art and would have looked better.

It's interesting that they don't even have Super Mario World, IGN's best game of all time in their top 100 games. Also not included are Red Dead Redemption 2 their number 3 game for XBox One, and Divinity Original Sin: 2 one of their top PC games of all time.

No question it's the prettiest. I've wanted one for over a decade.

Rush was way better than CruisN. I'd likely consider a San Francisco Rush game, but for some reason I felt like CruisN was just too over the top for me. Maybe just because it's too much an arcade game.

Yep definitely don't pick up a smartphone game.

I hope it's not a port of Xenoblade X. Especially with the most recent release from Monolithsoft being a port of the original Xenoblade. That combined with the lack luster story, and balancing in X I hope it's something new. Plus there's no way X would be as enjoyable on the Switch as it was on the Wii U with the lack of gamepad. The only way I get interested in a port of X is if they return the story they dropped, and add villages or new locals with friendly indigenous peoples. I mean it makes no sense why there's a race of Nopon merchants on the planet when there is literally no race of people for them to be trading with!

I collect them because I bought them to play and I don't see the point of selling them to Gamestop for 5% of what I paid.

I just bought it yesterday, waited until it was 50% off. After playing the first two and the demo I knew this was diverging I would probably enjoy but not love. So far this holds true.

Octopath traveler is definitely better. This is because the stories are more interesting (compared to the first two), there are more playable characters, and a slightly better battle system.

That being said, they both have great music and graphics.

I've been waiting my whole life for Blastoise in Unite! But seriously I'm not too impressed with Unite. Pay to win, a little too basic in strategies. It's still ok just not great. I guess because they had to make it mobile compatible they kept it simple. But yeah with Tencent behind it I won't get mobile.

I've only played 1 but I love it. One day I'm sure I'll get this. Only thing that has prevented me so far is the lack of couch co-op.

I imagine this will only change by the end of the day. It's incredibly early to have enough reviews in for metacritic to be helpful. I don't feel like this is really helpful reporting, it seems like it's just reporting to push a personal perspective. I'm glad the writer likes the game as games are meant to be enjoyed. But I don't think it's helpful for people who may or may not be interested to report on something that is likely to change in the next 24 hours.

Edit: seems like it's already dropped to 83 on metacritic in less than 12 hours since this was published. Not that 83 is bad by any means.

@drewber2635 look up twitch players, they've found playing for maxed held items they can go 1v5 without too much difficulty. To get maxed level items without paying it was calculated to take over 500 days of playing.

Pay to win scheme.

Be old enough to purchase things when they came out and always stay one generation behind. I mean look at Wii U game prices compared to their Switch counterparts!

Goes to show how easy and cheap these remakes are.

@Zuljaras I imagine it will have an offline mode since Steam does.

It could be huge because so many people are on steam. It could be a flop because who's going to play CS with a gamepad. But it could be huge for casual ffxiv players.

Personally I will buy a game on steam if they have it because the prices are generally better, ahem no Nintendo tax, they look better if you have a half decent computer, and because I know I'll likely be able to play it forever into the future without needing to have every system.

All other games, mostly Nintendo exclusives, I buy on consoles.

They should make you pick it up on store that way people can't buy 50 under different accounts. Or are least make it so you can't ship multiple to the same address.

Better not buy it unless you want the prices of systems to increase.

I haven't played the HD version... But I still kind it better than BOTW because it has a well developed and incredibly interesting story as well as more diverse items and locals.

I know they Switch is a port machine, but I'm kind of tired of it. Though I'd love a new Sin and Punishment!

@SkullDragr I doubt they'd waste the money to redesign the board when they have more space to work with, but they may have. We'll just have to wait and see.

I doubt they'll ever sell just the system but if they do I can't fathom then selling it for more than the Switch lite.

@SkullDragr $249? The original dock sans ethernet sold for $90, joy cons $80, usb c charger $30. So without an official HDMI that's $450. Plus you're not considering how technology gets more affordable over the years, if the chips and materials cost $167 four years ago then it's going to be less aside from the screen. Also screens that small are pretty affordable because of how they produce OLED screens on big plates where they cut TV screens out of. That's why you can get a 2 inch OLED for $10 or less. Because it's basically scrap from producing the TVs.

I think the bigger improvement is the angle that it lays. Look at the basketball picture, none of those guys can actually see the screen.

The OLED kickstand looks like it will actually be pointed up to where people's eyes are which is a much needed improvement.

Every once in awhile I've tried to play on a table... But I have to recline so much that I'm practically laying down and so I give up pretty quick.

At least he's honest and not trying to shill something most people don't want or need. My parents just got a Switch, and they're glad they didn't wait after hearing this news as they will mostly use it docked.

That being said, if I didn't already have a Switch I'd pay the extra $50 to get this one.

News of just the console without the $80 controllers and $100 dock would be exciting. They could probably financially be able to sell it for 150, since it wouldn't have a USB charger or HDMI cable. But I don't see that happening when anyone that would want one will probably just pay full price.
