This mostly makes me sad. I assume that, since this was originally a Wii U title, there would have possibly been Miiverse integration and you would have also possibly seen your own Miis pop up in game. So sad to see what was scrapped to port this to the switch. Like the more verified removal of the use of the Wii U gamepad as a map. That would have made the game way more immersive.
Yes xenoblade. Very few games are better. I'm never excited to see a release be game of the year... But this is one game I can always support being at the to of a list.
@Strife89 If you consider the amount of stages, music, spirits, etc in the base game with the dlc the pricing looks even worse. I believe 74 fighters, 104 stages and 800 in base game verses 1 fighter, 1 stage and however many songs in dlc. For me it's not worth it unfortunately.
@Broosh When you look at states at songs it gets worse because there are more stages in the base game than characters. Yeah I just don't buy overly priced dlc. On Wii U I bought the Mario kart dlc though, but it gave you 16 new tracks and like 8 new drivers for the price of 2 smash characters...
@Broosh look at it this way. For the base game I paid less than $1 per fighter. So the DLCs are a 600% markup. I could afford the base game yes. But if the base game was $444, the price if every base fighter was $6, there would be no way.
So I can pay 10% of the price of the game and I can get one more character... I wish I had that type of money because I love Sephiroth. But as I don't buy Cloud for Wii U I won't be getting the One Winged Angel for Switch. If they were more like $1 each I'd definitely be able to afford them... Even if that would still make them more expensive than the fighters already in the game.
@HeyItsFlapjack as @wsli said "I don’t think you can decide for someone else if they can be offended or not." If he truly believed what he said he should remove the comment because I'm offended by it. That should be enough. If you believe what he says you shouldn't need to ask me about why I'm offended either. But, hopefully you're just honestly curious, so thank you for asking. But I'm not comfortable sharing why it's offensive. Hopefully he'll do what's right and remove the offensive comment.
It's sad that one of the best Nintendo consoles was also one of the worst selling.
Many of my friends didn't even know what a Wii U was. But once they saw experienced Nintendoland they loved it. Early on there was great 3rd party support like Assassin's creed, Mass Effect, Call of Duty and several others. Though the big names stopped showing up there was always great Indy support and the Nintendo games were amazing.
I still recommend this system to people that haven't played videogames in awhile because it can play almost every Nintendo games, including every Zelda game ever made to this day.
The only reason I can think that it was a failure was bad marketing. As I mentioned before none of my friends know what it was, but many played videogames and had a Wii.
@SpacedDuck they did this back with the GameCube... And people still thought there ps2 was more powerful. Plus the ps2, with way less power, destroyed the GameCube in sales. Whole they were open with the Wii having less power, and sold way more consoles than their competition that time around. So I don't they'll go for a new system centered around performance anytime soon.
@wazlon I could definitely tell a difference between Wii U and this in multiplayer. Single player however isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be but the fps definitely dips at times. For me not enough to ruin the experience... Multiplayer is unplayable unfortunately.
Well I already have the amiibos, so of course I'll be using them. I wish they would announce some new ones. Still bummed there weren't any for xenoblade.
@fayaine Is it pretty easy to emulate Switch games? I'm already buying... but I have found it, the demo, to be unplayable two player which is how I wanted to play it.
@Maxz if it's digital how is it sold out? I wish they would release the digital version for free or a small price so I wouldn't have to put the cart in every time I wanted to play... I usually prefer physical for games. But for a workout games I feel like the easier to get started playing the better.
When I purchased my first special edition of a game I loved how it had no ratings label on the front.
Also, when I first started purchasing games in the EU instead of NA I found it frustrating the the boxes have like a little pink triangle on the bottom of the box that the NA and JPN versions don't have.
Now, does it prevent me from buying a game. No. Do I complain about it ever... not really. But does it bother me a little bit that when I put my boxes together the EU ones look different than my NA and JPN boxes... A little bit.
@Blooper987 I believe Captain Toad was either $30 or $40 when released on the Wii U.... So basically for every release of a ported game they are staying around the price of the original.
@Octane When you could buy 1-3 for $60 today on the Wii U or wait to buy 3 only on the switch for $60 it only makes sense. Well at least if you assume they don't care about their consumers it makes perfect sense.
@Spartacus3765 before they took it away from the eshop you could purchase Pikmin 1, 2, and 3 for less than $60... And then use gold coins for the dlc. I guess they realized it was too good of a deal on the Wii U and had to remove it.
@Tharsman As of earlier today you could get the game for $20 and one of the dlc packs for 20 gold coins. I doubt the 3 month wait and $40 difference makes up for the extra price of the other, I believe 2, dlc packs. Or, for less than $60 you could get Pikmin 1-3 one the Wii U, plus 1 DLC pack... Is the additional content going to be as good as the first two Pikmin games? I think the fact that they immediately dropped the game, 3, from the Wii U eshop says something about how much faith they have in the new content.
Also I don't believe they would drop the price by 25% within the first two months of release. Has Nintendo done that with another title before? I know other companies have, but I don't recall Nintendo ever doing that.
I can buy a second copy on the Wii U for $10-$20 today, or wait 3 months to buy it on Switch for $60. Tough choice to make. Can someone give me advice on what I should do?
But seriously, I'd recommend buying a Wii U and Pikmin 3 because the play style with the gamepad was amazing. I saw these plus a couple other games on craigslist for $80 recently. Plus you can get them today.
A 7 year old Wii U game I already own, but I can own it again at full price for a minor update. I think I'll pass like I have on so many other Wii U, I mean Switch games that I already own. I wish I could get some new games, but I guess it's good that other people are getting the opportunity to play.
@SpaceKaren literally own every Nintendo console... Bought by first non Nintendo system this generation. I don't hate the switch. But it has had to many rereleased Wii U titles that I don't care to repurchase while I wait for something new.
@Big_Fudge I don't know how people are ignoring what happened, didn't happen in 2016. Basically they stopped everything to move it to the Switch the following year. For instance, BotW would have been one game that would have made 2016 incredible, but it was delayed to be a simultaneous released on the Switch.
@Woodyshoe I don't know. I like vii and ix but I also like rpgs. Honestly none of these are probably down your alley. Maybe try Torna the Golden country if you haven't played it. If you really want an ff I'd say ix if you like fantasy stories and vii if you're more info sci fi. X is very linear and not much exploring, so if you like XC you might not be into it.
@Zach777 This game is incredible! My wife and I played this our first year of marriage and we are super excited that the Definitive edition came out during our 3rd year! We also now have a kiddo who will enjoy seeing Shulk and his adventure. (He was too young to really enjoy Rex.)
@PcTV XC XCX XC3D XC2 XCDE. Torna is dlc, though released as a standalone. So yeah it's confusing you could count then in several ways. You could say there's 3, 4, 5 or 6.
I still think this is one of the best RPGs of all time, maybe the best aside from Chrono Trigger on a Nintendo platform. If you haven't played it, it's worth the money. I think it's the only game I've double dipped on at full price. That being said, is it fair to charge people full price for a updated game? In general maybe, people can make the decision if they want to buy it or not. That's how free markets work. Still I'll judge Nintendo for Wind Waker HD as it was simply an up-scaled re-release that probably took little to know effort to update. At least with XCDE they are adding new content and not just up-scaling the game but have created completely new assets. Though I have much respect for Monolith Soft as even the XC2 DLC was way more content than they needed to produce for just $30.
More people need to be talking about Adventures of Lolo. Is it perfect? Probably not. Is it an amazing puzzler that actually holds up to the tests of time unlike most all of the other "great" games on the NES? Definitely.
@Arglas_ I don't. Though I wouldn't say remakes on all accounts. Same story, though plus an epilogue. Same fighting system, same affinity chart, same side quests. Honest question, aside from the graphics and the epilogue has anything changed? FF7 Remake was a remake. To me this isn't a port because they've done more than just upscale the graphics like an emulator can do. But, ignoring the epilogue, I can understand the people that say this is a port. If their definition of a port is a game that hasn't been changed aside from the graphics.
Now that they've just about run out of Wii U games to port it seems like they are slowing the rate at which they publish games. But really, they are just publishing new games at the same rate while reducing the amount of published ports*.
