@AlCamus you dont own any game anymore. Look at destiny 2, I have the physical version of that but I am still unable to access the original campaign or first 2 DLC packs as they have been archived and are unavailable.
OK, this is an extreme version of a live service title, but you sign the same licensing agreement when you accept the terms for any modern game you play regardless if its physical or digital.
It will be interesting to see how Nintendo deals with this when they move to the next gen system when average game sizes are 50-100gb

@AlCamus you do get what you pay for, you get to play the game.
You accept the terms of service for most games nowadays that state that you don't own the game, only access rights to use the product while it's available.
This will be standard on Nintendo's next gen system I imagine where most games will likely be ps4 sized (at the minimum) and won't fit on a cartridge.

@AlCamus it's standard practice on the other systems where the disk just acts as a licensing key and you need to fully download the game to the console.

I imagine this will become more common for the next Nintendo console as well when the games get too large to be fully included on a cartridge.

It doesn't bother me as long as i get to.play the games, I don't see why people freak out on this site about having to download stuff.

Does this have voice chat on switch?
It would be really hard working as a team without the ability to communicate with your teammates

I dont see how this is a problem when you have titles like Mario encouraging both drug and animal abuse on the system.
Is taking shrooms and jumping on turtles any worse than digital drink driving?

I have put my original yellow one In a box frame with a copy of Pokemon yellow and a Pikachu card.

Will hold off and pick it up pre owned once the price has dropped a little.

I really hope that the next Nintendo console is a home console rather than something that is comparable with last gen systems and be stuck with poor ports still.
They could do what Sony is doing with the Portal and allow people to stream to thier existing Switch for those that prefer portable play and the rest of us get a system that can manage current gen games without the ridiculous cutbacks

Why give us the original on NSO when Nintendo can charge full price for a bare bones remake.
Nintendo has become more anti-consumer than EA at this point.

@Friendly it's a chore when you want to build a large building like a castle - which is what I was halfway through when everything got reset.
Seen my bum, sold the game and went back to minecraft lol

This is pretty cool but I got bored with the building once I realised that everything gets reset with the blood moon. It stopped me doing the large scale builds that I wanted to do - no point putting the time and effort into something so fleeting.

This is exactly why I'm dubious about Nintendo's next system being backwards compatible.
Why give us our game libraries when they can keep selling them back to us.

This is exactly the reason I stopped browsing the Switchs Eshop, it was painfully slow to trawl through pages of crap in the sale section.
I love how Xbox puts everything into easy to navigate sections, makes things so much easier for those Impulse buys - which is 90% of how I buy games.

£40 for a 360 port, gotta love that Nintentax.

I only buy Switch games second hand so thankfully this has never Been a problem for me, although 1 time Cex forgot to put the disk in a PS5 case. Luckily I opened it in the store to put the receipt in the box and noticed before leaving.

If it isn't comparable with at least the Series S I'm not interested in upgrading from my OLED.
The PS5 and Series consoles have been out 3 years, why would I invest in another console that is so far behind whats already available at launch?

I dont see the fuss about collecting physical games, especially at these inflated prices and that's before you factor in the increased carbon footprint of an already heavy industry.
I suppose some people are just happy to watch the world burn, just as long as they have tat on thier shelves to look at.

Not in any rush to play it as I've just Started Fire Emblem Engage. Hopefully once I finish this I can grab a second hand copy of Pikmin 4 at a lower price.

It's still overpriced considering its the worst subscription out of the 3 consoles.
It should be free to play online on Switch given the lack of basic features with an option to pay for the retro catalogue for those who want them.

Just picked up Fire Emblem Engage. Will be playing that and Exoprimal with friends.

@Debo626 my PS5 pretty much only gets used for the 1st Party titles, Sony has had some amazing exclusives, even more so than Nintendo who's quaility has dipped recently. God of War is the classic Zelda game that Nintendo refuses to give us.
My Switch gets used for Indy games and the Xbox for everything else.

@glaemay Metroid Dread was far to linear and Held your hand way too much.
Other 2D metroidvanias like Hollow Knight and Ori have upped the benchmark significantly in the genre and Dread felt that it coasted along rather than add any innovations - especially given the vast price difference between Dread and pretty much every other modern title in the genre.

I find it fascinating how the comments posted on this site shift depending on the company.

The amount of people moaning about lack of representation on this site quickly shut up and make excuses for the lack of diversity when it's Nintendo thats promoting a corporate culture of misogyny.

@Randomname19 I couldn't get into VR chat, I think I may be too old for that one but I've played paintball in RecRoom more times than I'm willing to admit - just need to get past the kids shouting slurs lol.

@Greatluigi There's also the option where they add GC games to the service for those of us whomdont care about owning games and sell them separately for those that dont, like gamepass and PS+ extra does. That way everyone wins, but Nintendo are far to greedy to do that and prefer to constantly squeeze ever penny from its customer base.

These should have dropped onto the NSO service, but why would Nintendo give its fans something for free when they can overcharge for them and people lap it up.

Love these games and they would be perfect for handheld sessions. Just need to fight temptation on release and wait for a sale as its usually around £10 on Xbox.

I suppose this is proof we won't be getting GameCube games as part of rhe NSO subscription.

I'm seriously doubtful that the next system will be backwards compatible seeing all of the remakes in the latest direct, but I suppose that will depend on sales figures. Why would Nintendo give its customers something for free when they can sell the same things back to us repeatedly?

when you look at the money MK8 has generated, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see a MK8 super deluxe on the next system - where it comes bundled with the DLC tracks at full retail.
Nintendo isn't a fan of giving stuff away, we haven't even had a "Selects" range of discounted games on Switch with them opting to keep their legacy games full priced.

@Nico85 @WiltonRoots the wii-U broke and I lost £100's worth of digital games and the digital library didn't carry across to Switch like it does on Xbox or PS5.

The reason I have so many switches is that I traded my original for a Lite and then had to buy a second Lite so the wife could play Animal Crossing (because Nintendo decided to lock it to 1 user per console).
I bought the Oled on impulse from CEX after seeing it in store, no idea why really as I've hardly played on it.
I suppose that's the joys of Bi-Polar. I don't think straight when I'm manic and ridiculously overspend, which is why I also have a Series X, PS5, MetaQuest 2 and a gaming laptop. It's also why my comments may contradict as my mind changes as quickly as my moods sorry.

Why do people freak out about a few extras being included as a download code compared to having them all on cart?

Literally the only difference between having content as dlc or on the cart is you don't get as much for trading the game in - which is why games companies do this. If you want the full experience, buy new to support the devs. If you buy second hand then you need to buy the dlc as an extra, which is good as the devs still get some money out of the sale.

As for the game, I'm really looking forward to playing them as Amy.

@WiltonRoots no edge, I supported them throught the wii-U era only for them to try and charge me again to access my game library on new hardware.
After buying the forst switch and getting stung, I decided to never give them any of my money again which I haven't - 3 additional Switches and all of my Nintendo exclusive software has been second hand.
I would rather support a company that looks after its customer base.

I'm curious what you guys who are against pirating think about buying second hand.

In both instances the Dev/Publisher gets non of the money from the second sale onwards. In terms of lost revenue, how is that different to someone accessing a rom of a game?

I only ever buy Nintendo products second hand (apart from the N64 controllers which I impulse bought and then sold both as I was offered more than double what I paid), explicitly to stop my money going to Nintendo

@SpaceboyScreams Grinding is pretty much all you do in any game to various degrees.
What's the point in clearing out the mobs or finding all Korok seeds in BotW/TotK?
In fact that feels worse than something like Warframe or Diablo because you don't even get better loot from the treasure chests.

@ComfyAko the actual combat in Diablo has always been pretty simplistic, the gameplay loop is in maximising your build to take on a harder difficulty and rinse/repeat. Once you reach endgame its about grinding for the best armour sets for your character build and then it becomes about the fashion via transmog 🤣

@ComfyAko I would Hardly call Diablo a casual game, it takes a lot of grinding to get decent sets.
Sure you can just run through the campaign on the easier settings but if you want to start working towards Torment 16 there's some serious Min/Maxing needed.

If they don't include crossplay (which I doubt as apart from Switch this game is current gen only) there's no point in picking this up on Switch, it will be dead within a couple of months just like MK11.

Exo Primal is out next week and after watching the trailers it has left me wanting a Lost Planet reboot.
I know that won't happen but we can live in hope can't we

Hopefully its a release date for the Lollipop chainsaw remake.
I would also be happy with Next Gen remakes of any of Suda 51's back catalogue.
These are games that deserve a 4k reboot !

Need to play more of this as ive recently bought it but hardly played. Unfortunately, between TotK and (I've just Started) Ghost of Tsushima I don't have a lot of free gaming time to learn a new shooter.

Such a shame the Purple and Pink are both for the same side, the Mrs would have loved a set with those 2 colours.

@acNewUpdates Its Nintendo, they charge full price for everything regardless of age -Launch title Switch games and Wii-U ports are still full priced after all.

I'm surprised they didn't add when it was going F2P to the roadmap. Picked it up for the Wife on release and I've been waiting for the free version to play it with her.

@GamingFan4Lyf I fully agree, I have said multiple times I don't enjoy the game. My original post was how Nintendo gets us to buy shrmtuff we don't like. Its digital crack, once we have had a taste they own us for life - whether we want to play or not
