It's always been weird to me how few mech games there are. Isn't it a pretty popular genre in Japan (mostly thanks to Gundam)? Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this. I hope it's good!
Already got the new one preordered on Steam, and I loved the previous two. I'm sure they have good reason for no Switch port, but I won't miss it much.
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is much more accessible in my opinion. Although that might just be because you 'only' control two characters instead of three. I always thought DoA was pretty fun to play just because, like Smash, most specials are just a button direction + attack button. The rock-paper-scissors system is also easy to grasp. This is also the reason why Pokken is easy to learn and enjoy. Most people call it Tekken + Pokémon because of the name and developers, but it really has more in common with DoA.
This is a really cute character design. I got the game at launch but other games keep getting in the way of me playing this, so I'm only still in the chapter where you just arrived in Mor Ardain. I have a looooooot to catch up to.
This is gonna rock. Barely any character interaction? Guess I'll have to reawaken my inner dungeon crawler and make up the interactions myself, one of my favourite things to do!
I've always seen Bravely Default as a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy V in particular... and this one looks to be the same for FFVI. I just can't wait. I really like the change in story, just eight people going on an adventure together without being 'chosen ones' or having a big darkness looming over the land. Very refreshing. Of course, the visuals are drop-dead gorgeous. I, too, will get a lot of use out of the screenshot button.
Wait, Pocket Rumble is finally out!? I thought that game was a myth by now! I got Yooka-Laylee on PC from a friend for free last week, but I have yet to play it. Something tells me it's nowhere near as good as A Hat in Time, though. For anyone on the fence about Mercenary Kings, I wholeheartedly recommend it! The gameplay is like a mix between Contra and Monster Hunter (somehow).
Looking forward to whatever Square-Enix brings to the table, and can't wait for Octopath Traveler in a few weeks. It's so close! If SE really wants to impress me, they should make a new Theatrhythm Final Fantasy for Switch... and maybe remake Final Fantasy V and especially VI in the Octopath style!
I heard this game was pretty unimpressive by Layton standards, both in puzzle quality and story. I guess we'll see when it releases on Switch. ...now when will any company outside Japan pick up licensing for the anime?
Oh, and uh, just some friendly advice: don't go around claiming that fighting games will have better framerate on PS4/Xbox One. No self-respecting fighting game developer/publisher will dare release a fighting game running anything less than a solid 60fps.
Let me weigh in on the ongoing conversation that if you judge the merit of a console based solely on the amount of exclusive games it has and whether or not the multiplatform games are technically better than the competition, I'm not sure if I like you.
One of my least favourite things in the gaming industry (and I say this as someone who only has Nintendo consoles) is exclusivity. At all. I want as many people to be able to play all these wonderful games in whatever way they want on whatever platform they want.
This ties in to the whole 'better specs' thing. If you want to play Crash NSane on PS4 because it runs/looks better, go ahead! Be my guest! If I had a PS4, I probably would too. But the fact of the matter is that some people only have a Switch, and for them these games releasing on their platform holds a lot of value that might not be there for people who have 'more powerful' alternatives. And then there is the ever-present added joy of portability. Again, depends on how you want to play your games.
So if you think the Switch has no games for you, that's understandable. But please don't make other people feel terrible about their choices. Everyone is allowed to make their choices. You. Me. Them. All of us.
This update is a good start, but there needs to be more. I physically can't get myself to bother with adventure mode right now just because it seems dead-set on wasting my time every time I fail a challenge.
This game is pretty good, but not quite the caliber of VOEZ and Deemo. Now Square-Enix, there is a particular 3DS rhythm game that I want a sequel for on the Switch...
This is my favourite musou game, with Fire Emblem Warriors being a close second. I wholeheartedly recommend this one! Also this game has the best musou soundtrack, taking the typical style of these games and infusing it with jazz. I love it!
There were so many improvements TK made between the release of HW on the Wii U and now with their Musou games, but it's kind of sad that they never bothered to implement them in this definitive edition. I loved the game at launch on the Wii U, but every time I pick it up now on the Switch I play one level and then get exasperated with it and put it down again. I just can't find the joy in the game anymore, which maddens me. At least I can go back to FEW and OPPW3 and get that joy back, so that's nice. Can't wait for whatever TK creates next for the Switch. Apparently Warriors Orochi 4 is being revealed at E3? Or at least soon.
I love DC Comics, so this will definitely be one I'm looking forward to! Also reading stuff here about a Lego Overwatch game... Can't wait for the Lego adaptation to tell a better story than the source material, lol
PQube, as usual, pulls through when ArcSys can't be bothered to. Can't wait for this game, although I should probably first play through the story mode of my copy of UNIEL first so that I know who all those characters are.
If you are at all interested in musou games you should seriously consider Pirate Warriors 3. It's my favourite in the franchise, ranking higher than Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors. If you want to unlock everything this game will keep you busy for a looooooong while!
Well, thanks to this I got a friend to pick up Etrian Odyssey V (despite my opinion that EO4 and EO2U are better games). I might pick up Radiant Historia now. Nothing else really interests me this week.
Despite my own disinterest in the genre, this is a good call on behalf of the studio/publisher. Being the first game of this ludicrously popular genre on the Switch could get them a lot of sales and goodwill.
As I say with every article about hacking: do whatever you want on your own device, as long as you keep your shenanigans away from the online multiplayer. The moment I see invincible opponents in Smash or the entire map being inked one team's colour at the beginning of a Splatoon match, I will be very mad.
I was really excited when this got announced ageeeeees ago, but that hype has pretty much vanished now. The developer/publisher must also be hitting themselves for being so late to the party when they could've launched back during that golden launch period where everything released on the Switch eShop raked in bucketloads of cash. Oh well, here's to hoping the game still turns out okay for players and creators alike.
I'll keep an eye on this. Character designs are great. Runbow was good fun, but I never really got to play it to its full potential thanks to having no local friends. A single player game will work a lot better for me!
I have too much to play right now anyway... Like the new DLC for Fire Emblem Warriors! Or Xenoblade 2! Or Splatoon 2! Or a myriad of games on my PC! (send help)
Look at that screenshot, Owain's sword arm is actually glowing with an awesome power! This DLC has some awesome stuff in it, and I still recommend this game over Hyrule Warriors. The only thing FEW doesn't have over HW is roster representation, but gameplay is leagues ahead.
I'm getting Kirby physically, and I have yet to decide if I want Gal*Gun 2 physically on Switch or digitally on Steam. Oh, and don't sleep on Theatrhythm Curtain Call on the 3DS, if you like rhythm games then this game gives you an extraordinary amount of content for only €20!

Is it just me, or does it feel like there's a new Atelier game every four months or so? I'm surprised fans can keep up with it all.
