Well deserved first and third place!
Xbox Series still doing pretty good in Japan (All things considered !), despite a decline this week
Well deserved 1st place for NEO: TWEWY and Game Builder Garage is still selling very well
The original TWEWY on NDS sold ~84,000 copies at launch, so NEO TWEWY looks to have flopped in Japan 😬.
Looks like Square Enix will need to look toward the west for better sales.
@westman98
I guess you could say the first one was priced cheaper and there was a bigger group of potential customers... but yeah not looking to be a great success in japan at least unfortunately. Unless maybe the digital sales are great, but looking at the e-shop charts I doubt it
Seems like a bad release for NEO: TWEWY.
I mean, they barely marketed the damn thing, and this makes the PS4 release look like a potential waste of time.
Good going for both NEO and Ace.
I remember the first TWEWY being well known back in the day as one of the best games on the DS, but it seems no one cares about this one. I blame the bad marketing campaing as it didn't do any buzz.
The glass is half empty for many in this comments section, it seems.
On a different note, it's not surprising that The Great Ace Attorney isn't as high in Japan, considering it's basically a re-release (as opposed to the brand new release it is in the west), but third place is still pretty good.
NEO are types of games JPN fans like most of maybe that's why sales are they way they are.
Tbh I hope the Series S takes off. GamePass has Lumines, Katamari Damacy, Undertale, Dragon Quest XI, multiple Final Fantasy games, the Yakuza series, Hadee, Hollow Knight, a ton of indies, Resident Evil, cloud gaming and a bunch of Western games people can dabble and try out. It's a great companion to the Switch and super tiny. Doesn't look like it'll hit huge numbers but I hope it does. Anyway, as you were!
Ouch, those software sales are brutal. Japan really does play nothing but mobile gatcha now, huh?
that is very low for Neo The World Ends With You on both Switch and PS4
@Kilamanjaro
Same here. I got a series s last week and I love it. It's a huge jump over my old xbox one.
I'm hoping Atlus brings games to xbox this gen.
@Bobarino wouldn't mind some Persona or Shin Megami on there. Fingers crossed!
@Haruki_NLI I was getting constant ads for it for a while here in the US, so clearly they've been doing some marketing; I just don't get why they think I can single-handedly buy enough copies to make it a hit!
Not sure why they even bother wasting time with a PS4 or PC version of NEO: The World Ends With You. The majority of players that got this game for Switch are prior Nintendo DS gamers and had enjoy the original The World Ends With You as a handheld entry. They are not going to waste time playing this stuck to their TV or PC.
Obligatory Minecraft comment
@valharian The ds one was much better in every way, imo.
Low software sales everywhere! I guess folk are watching the Olympics and being inspired to not play video games...for a week or two lol.
The first TWEWY was an ok RPG, a solid game during the DS era. This game is just boring, i tried to get into it, doing the best to try to finish but i just closed the game and im not going to play it again. Its a shame because the first one made you to continue playing to see how the story unfolds. If this game Isn't hitting the shelves hard in Japan, i doubt it will reach the numbers it got during the DS era. Even combined with other consoles it isnt even near what the DS game did (As an commenter above said, this game will attract the player base that played the game during the DS era)
The original TWEWY did not make a splash in west but NEO charted top 10 in UK and in some European nations. Hope it also charts in NPD chart next. Hopefully with PC and PS4 release, new series for them alongside Switch the game can sells well. Just shows how 3rd party japan devs need world market more now.
Also seems like switch is finally slowing down, looks like everyone waiting for OLED.
Is that a non-Nintendo game on the top 10 chart? In Japan? That's allowed?
XD
@Heavyarms55 Minecraft has always been part of the top ten. It's the only other product from Microsoft since the MSX to sell big in Japan.
And Skyward Sword is still in the running high up over there. And Zelda isn't as big in that territory.
