Re: "If Mario Starts To Show Up On PlayStation, That's The Apocalypse, Right?" - Ex-PlayStation Boss Thinks Console Exclusives Are Still Important

BlublacMH

For all of Nintendo's faults, I'm glad they remember the foundational rule that exclusives sell consoles. No matter how hard Xbox suits try to tell you otherwise, the proof is in the company's rapidly declining reputation: no exclusives means no reason to buy your consoles. I just hope that Sony remembers this before too much more damage is done to them as well.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

BlublacMH

I'm indifferent to most of this. Every person who I've seen talk about their console being "bricked" has been stupid about their pirating and is now suffering from FAFO, but I'm not gonna go to bat for the billion dollar company to have total control over a console I bought either. I'll just be watching this unfold while I wait to buy more Switch 2 games.

Re: Look, Maybe We Should Stop Asking For A Sonic Adventure Remaster

BlublacMH

@Medic_alert To be fair, back then that wasn't an awful amount of sales. In fact, a quick Google tells me SA2B sold around as much as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and that just got a remake last year. It wouldn't be a ridiculous move for them to release even a relatively simple remaster, especially if they tried to capitalize on the third Sonic movie which essentially is just a SA2 movie anyway.

Re: Look, Maybe We Should Stop Asking For A Sonic Adventure Remaster

BlublacMH

It's a baffling and frankly asinine decision to not capitalize on something that is almost guaranteed to be a hit if done right, but whatever. If they won't remake the games at least put the Gamecube versions on NSO. My Wii is finally starting to wear down and I don't wanna lose access to SA1 and SA2.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Is Now The Second-Best Selling Game In The Series

BlublacMH

S/V is such a conundrum to me. The way they run should not and is not acceptable in any form, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't have a lot of fun with them. There's the skeleton of an amazing game there, but its clear that the lack of time in the oven drags it down. All we can do is hope that Z-A is evidence that Gamefreak is loosening the reigns a bit.

Re: 69 Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's 'Supercharge' eShop Sale (North America)

BlublacMH

I've played a handful of these (and am looking to buy two more based off what I've read here and heard elsewhere). If anyone reading the comments is interested at all in Metroidvanias or classic JRPGs I highly recommend Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Sea of Stars respectively. Both have some stumbles with their story but the visuals and gameplay in both are top notch.

Re: Random: PlayStation's Astro Bot Director Pays Tribute To Mario And Nintendo In GOTY Speech

BlublacMH

Like most things Team Asobi does, this felt really heartfelt and appreciative. I'm so glad they won GOTY and I can't wait to see what Astro Bot 2 looks like.

(SN: I never really understood people using the Mario comparisons as a negative. Platformers are always gonna be compared to Mario like how kart racers are always gonna be compared to Mario Kart. When you solidify a genre that's kinda what happens.)

Re: Tales Of Kenzera Director Slams Publishers' Desire To Create "The Next Fortnite"

BlublacMH

He's 1000% right. We just saw with a game that starts with a C and ends with oncord how trying to force a live service game can be a VERY costly mistake, but these companies are so starved for profit that they'll keep making the same mistakes in hopes that it will go right for them one day. It's the same thing with shows and movies nowadays as well: anything that's not immediately a billion dollar hit is garbage so they'll keep wasting money on "proven success" until they luck up and make one.

Re: Opinion: I Didn't Realise How Much I'd Missed 'Traditional' Zelda Dungeons

BlublacMH

@Duncanballs I think there's a lot more that people loved about the older games than just the dungeons (tho they are def a part of it). Like Wind Waker is almost universally loved (now) but its dungeons are pretty weak. My issue is that people seem to be making the argument that traditional dungeons = good game and that's not really true.

That said I do agree with your comment that there's room for both. I've long since believed that the traditional formula would live on in the 2D games while the 3D games would be more open, and I hope Echoes of Wisdom is evidence of that.

Re: Sea Of Stars-Inspired RPG 'Forge Of The Fae' Looks And Sounds Stunning

BlublacMH

Wow never knew so many people apparently hated Sea of Stars. The leads were pretty bland and the story wasn't as strong as I would've liked, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit and it's the most recent game to make me cry (IYKYK).

That said, it's kinda wild that a new game is being heralded as like Sea of Stars instead of like Chrono Trigger. Apparently I'm old AF 😅. Excited to see how Forge of the Fae turns out.
