Re: Switch Online's Expansion Pack Promises "Excitement" In 2025

Bass_X0

can't wait for more crappy NES games I will never touch

I make it a commitment to play every game at least ten minutes. Even the crappy NES games.

It's cheaper and easier to buy them physically.

It’s really not. Checking out the costs of buying the original cartridge of some games is horrifying now how expensive they are. Paying for NSO and buying collections really is the way to go. Works out cheaper.

Re: Review: Alleyway (3DS eShop / GB)

Bass_X0

I wouldn’t call Alleyway bad. It’s simple and basic, yes; but I’ve enjoyed playing it on NSO. It may not set out to do much but it achieves what it set out to do. I’d rate it higher than 3

“Anticipate shoddy presentation, lousy controls, and/or a lack of ambition across the board.”

It may well lack ambition but I wouldn’t call the presentation shoddy or the controls lousy. I’d rather play Alleyway than most other games scoring 3/10.

Re: Capcom Says It Will Continue To Grow The Ace Attorney Series

I’d like to see an anthology series where each case has you playing a different character each time - Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, Athena Cykes, Ryunosuke Naruhodo, and Miles Edgeworth. Each case would be set at different points in the overall timeline and victims and murderers could return. So the likes of Cindy Stone could return who was killed at the start of the very first game in a new story set before the first game.

Re: Soapbox: The Next Pokémon Game Should Rework Old Critters, Not Just Add Dozens More

Bass_X0

Mega Evolutions for Pokemon with less than three evolutionary stages should become regular normal evolutions without any of the restrictions or benefits that comes from being a Mega Evolution. You don’t have to make them hold an item and don’t have any stat boosts.

Mega Gyarados would now just become a regular third stage evolved form. However Charizard would not be able to become Mega Charizard as that line already has three stages.

If Mega Evolutions were to return then the regular third stage Mega Gyarados could have a further evolution, a Mega Mega Gyarados, but Mega Evolutions repurposed as regular evolutions would have a new name but still look the same.

Re: Dragon Quest Creator On The Challenge Of Silent Protagonists In Modern Gaming

At one point during DQ11 the hero was discovering some major personal revelations yet he was just stood there with zero expression on his face, saying nothing. It really brings out of the story when you’re reminded of the silent hero trope when the trope should not be used. Of course I didnt expect him to just start talking but I think the whole silent hero trope needs to go.

Imagine if Final Fantasy VII had Cloud be a silent hero? Being a silent hero adds nothing to the game, only removes things.

Re: Talking Point: The Switch eShop Could Be Great With These Few Tweaks

Bass_X0

Not a huge thing, but I’d like to hide games on the eshop that I have already purchased

The Wii eshop had a list of publishers that have published games on the eshop that you can see the rest of their games on their page. The Switch has the same list of games by publisher, but you can’t just go to that publishers page. You have to find a game they published first to then go to that publishers page.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Kirby's Pinball Land

Bass_X0

@-wc- Kirby’s Pinball Land is the best pinball game on Game Boy. Sure it’s not realistic to actual real life pinball, but it does well as a videogame. The other Pinball games on Game Boy that try to be more realistic just as fun.

Re: Earn 4x Gold Points When You Buy A Pair Of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers (Europe)

Bass_X0

I’ve downloaded six games with it now and pre-ordered another two using vouchers and Curry’s code. I have another two or four games to get before the offer expires. I’m not expecting this deal to return in the Switch’s lifespan so I have to take advantage of it now while I can.

My only trouble is that it takes two hours or whatever for the bonus coins to go onto your account. Which is a minor nitpick I suppose.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES Library With Seven More Games

Bass_X0

Nobody is going to want to pay for the likes of Donkey Kong Jr Math as an individual game. I like the NSO for getting games to players that they wouldn’t have given a chance otherwise; although yes Donkey Kong Jr Math isn’t a glowing endorsement of that.

Even just counting the games I would have brought on the Virtual Console, the NSO pays for itself by being a better deal. I would have paid more for VC games per year than I do the NSO subscription cost, and that’s just no good for me. Plus I get to save money with the game tickets. I just pre-ordered the new Zelda and Mario & Luigi for about £28 each rather than the £50 they were going for at standard cost thanks to the bonus gold coins and curry’s 15% discount on eshop vouchers
