Re: Feature: 21 Game Boy Advance Games We'd Love To See Added To Nintendo Switch Online

Bass_X0

I don’t think games that are based on real life celebrities, movies or need a translation should be on this list. Even for a hypothetical wish list, there is no way these will happen.

And just because a few games on the NSO did happen such as GoldenEye, Earthbound Zero and Quest For Camelot; that doesn’t mean that any such game can happen.

@sullivans2004
That boktal game sounds cool but two things.
One, the sensor on a cartridge wouldn't work as the cartridge is hidden inside the switch

I was thinking about that. The game could be connected to the internet and it would read the weather data for your area as if it was detecting the weather using the original sensor. But they wouldn’t modify the game like that. So that’s not going to happen either.

I don’t get why this reviewer has such a huge hang up against the pun names that the series is known for. They’re supposed to be made up foreign names but also have meaning and be memorable to the player.

Ahlbi Ur’Gaid = I’ll be your guide.
Paht Rohl = Patrol
Datz Are’bal = That’s a rebel
Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin = Peace, Love and Understanding

It would be worse if the names were incomprehensible words that have no meaning or relevance to the player. Nahyuta isn’t a pun name though and his name comes from Sanskrit. I found it interesting years ago to look up all the characters names and see what they mean.

@LikelySatan Arin Hanson has a hugely well known channel called GameGrumps which he has been running for the past ten years. While he’s not particularly wholesome, especially in the early days I think it’s fair to say he loves Disney Princesses… unless the game they’re in is of poor quality. While they do talk about movies, they don’t do episodes dedicated to review movies.

There are worse fighting games on the Genesis. It’s no SFII obviously but some enjoyment can be had.

Re: The King Of Fighters XIII Global Match Gets A New Trailer Ahead Of Launch

@PtM who SNK is owned by has no relevance to the game. And he’s not going to lose money just because you don’t buy the game.

It’s like refusing to give a millionaire a penny because you don’t want them to become richer. I don’t think they care.

I’ll have to see how much it costs first before deciding to buy it. I had it on XBOX 360 and sold it but I am willing to buy it again on switch provided it’s an appropriate cost.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Library With Excitebike 64

As to your example, if I bought 5 games at $10 each, that costs the annual subscription. After one year, then what? Gone! So I need to pay another $50. Then another. It doesn't work.

What you seem to be intentionally neglecting there is that the next year you would spend another $50 on other games as well as the $50 you spent on that previous year. Then the year later, you’ll spend another $50 on games released that year too. That’s why it’s such a good deal; over a period of two, three, four, five years you’re saving money overall with the subscription service instead of paying for games you want separately over that same period of time. You are not paying for the same games again, you’re paying to play the new games released that current year.

Your math is wrong and you’re getting upset at Nintendo because your own math is wrong.

With Wii, 3DS and Wii U Virtual Console, I spent a lot more every year than the annual NSO subscription service overall. And now I don’t play my Wii or Wii U anymore, and rarely play my 3DS.

Re: SNK Shares First Look At Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves

@DKing64 No. I’m going to proudly and openly support my love for playing SNK games along with everyone else. I will not be shamed into silence by the likes of you for being enthusiastic towards a new Fatal Fury game. I don’t feel one ounce of guilt for wanting to buy it. My purchase is the proverbial drop in the ocean for the owners. That’s why I say it’s insignificant.

Re: SNK Shares First Look At Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves

Bass_X0

@DKing64 ”They just choose not to give their money to billionaires who commit atrocities. Seems reasonable to me. How can you possibly not understand that concept?”

One person buying the game adds zero to a billionaire’s wealth and not buying the game reduces their wealth by zero. That’s not a naive or defeatist attitude, it’s simply the truth. So if someone wants to play the game, they should.

”if a large portion of people have a moral compass and choose to do the same then guess what, the company's bottom line will suffer.”

The only ones that would suffer will be SNK and the fans of their games. The owners will not suffer in the slightest. In this case, acting on one’s moral compass in such a manner is a worthless gesture.

Re: SNK Shares First Look At Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves

Bass_X0

@jake1421 I just know my place in the world. And my place is to not go fighting billionaires committing atrocities in Saudi Arabia. If they own a company that puts out product that I want to buy, I’ll buy it. I’ll let the people who do have the power, funding, influence and presence to fight them do so.

What I find naive is someone believing that taking a moral stand by not buying a videogame actually does anything of any worth. Saudi Arabia is still going to do whatever whether you do or don’t. It makes absolutely zero impact and such a moral stand is just pointless and ineffective. And no I’m not defending them, I just know that you not buying a game isn’t the critical blow against them that you want it to be.

Re: SNK Shares First Look At Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves

Bass_X0

@jake1421 Whatever the owners are doing is happening “over there” where we are not and not “over here” where we are. Let the people of “over there” deal with the atrocities that are affecting over there. What is happening “over here” is a new game is being released.

Really, you shouldn’t let every atrocity in countries you’ve never been to happening to people you will never meet affect your mental health. It’s not for you or I to change their ways; we have zero presence and zero influence in our ability to affect things happening over there. People should not lie awake at night worrying about things beyond their control and should instead focus on improving their own lives and the people in their lives. The world’s problems are not yours to shoulder the burden of.

If the game appeals to you, play it and enjoy it. That’s the extent of your impact as an individual upon whatever is happening.

Re: SNK Shares First Look At Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves

Bass_X0

@LikeWhoa Capcom can only afford to put out one single new fighting game at a time of their own IPs right now let alone buying the rights to fighting game series from other developers. Although I wouldn’t mind Capcom vs. SNK sequels being the only fighting game series Capcom put out.

Re: SNK Shares First Look At Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves

Bass_X0

@Lizuka You shouldn’t care about such things. Play the games you want to play because you like those games. Don’t let meaningless intangible reasons like you don’t like a certain owner, actor, writer, musician, developer or artist stop you from pursuing entertainment you enjoy. You can still dislike them and yet still enjoy the work they produce.
