@nib0 They don’t do games in order. They wanted a GBC game so released Wario Land 3. They wanted a GCN game so released Wario World. They’re not required to release the earlier games first but I’m sure they will come eventually.
@OldGamer999 that would be called a remake/remaster and can be found on the eshop not the NSO, which is only for straight ports. Stretching games to widescreen just looks horrible for some games that do so. I prefer to see more of the stage past the regular screen when they do wide screen like in Sonic Origins. But that isn’t what the NSO is for.
I would prefer the equivalent of one game every week regardless of quality as there will be an actual good game sometimes and even some of the poor or average games can be fun to try out at no extra cost that you wouldn’t pay for otherwise.
As opposed to only one game being released once every two or three months but is guaranteed to be a good game.
Plus I like to see the collection grow on each app.
@NintendoWife Do you really think Nintendo isn’t going to bring over the NSO to the Switch 3? It will be fifteen years from now before the servers close if they do something completely different for their next console and don’t bring over downloads from Switch 1 & 2. So there’s no point worrying right now that you will no longer have access to your games in 2040.
@Don You’re really not paying attention to the state of the economy right now are you? When a single NeoGeo Pocket Color game costs $7 or $8 on the eShop, there is no way Nintendo would include all the Virtual Boy games on a physical cartridge bundled with the accessory and still keep the whole thing under $99.
I was thinking how I’d like Game Boy Camera to come to NSO and that it would use the Switch App on your phone to function as the camera, although yes, it would still only show Game Boy Camera quality photos in the game. The game would be connected to the app to synchronise so that the game shows what you are taking a picture of with your phone in real time.
@swedetrap The Pokemon Company has apparently stated they don’t like the NSO’s save state and rewind features and think it would break the games and are concerned players would trade Pokemon then reload an earlier save state to duplicate the Pokemon.
@babybilly Nintendo still wants games to release in 2027 and later. Plus some games will never come to the service due to licensing and rights issues. No, they are not going to pay big money just to obtain the rights to release an old game on the service. Plus some publishers just aren’t interested in supporting the service.
I would ideally like a minimum of one game every week from any supported console so four games being released in one update is fine to me. A little frustrating that the update came almost a month after the previous update but still, November didn’t get overlooked after all.
@TomSupreme we already have a lot of jobs replaced by machines. Even just using a computer is showing support for a world where humans are replaceable. Humans used to do the tasks that a computer can now do instantaneously.
I had this but I didn’t play it much. I knew it wouldn’t be a typical Mario game but I had a lot of other games to play at the time and this just got neglected.
@westman98 I’m not saying that is what they would do, I’m saying it is what they should do. It’s all hypothetical and made up. In this scenario, the 3DS would be updated via the Switch online service, not by its own discontinued online service; which I even said would remain discontinued. When the 3DS is connected to the Switch, the Switch would send a save state of the game being played so that both Switch and 3DS would run the game simultaneously.
@WhiteUmbrella Yes, the NSO is a paid subscription service. Games get added every so often. You’re just not going to get a library of games for free.
I’m going to assume you are against the entire concept of the NSO, you were telling me what I know the NSO to already be, so I will have to dismiss your accusation of it being a terrible idea.
If someone doesn’t have a Switch 2 then they don’t get to play DS games on the Switch 2.
@WhiteUmbrella I said the NSO app downloaded to the 3DS can only play NSO DS and 3DS games when connected to the Switch. The 3DS serves as a controller for the Switch. Your other games are not part of the NSO service so cannot be played on Switch.
@KingMike you would download the games to an NSO app on the 3DS. The game screen would show the same on both Switch and 3DS simultaneously. The 3DS would act as the controller for the Switch. You would only be able to play the DS and 3DS games on 3DS when the 3DS is actively connected to the Switch.
My idea for DS and 3DS games is to have them be downloads to the 3DS. There would be not be a new screen to buy. You just download a NSO app to the 3DS to play DS and 3DS games which would also show on your docked or undocked Switch 2 screen. The 3DS would not be reissued though and the 3DS eshop would not be reopened. Nor can you play DS and 3DS cartridge or downloaded eShop games on Switch.
@FrenchVaniIIuxe I think more people would have been happy if they worked their historical inaccuracies into the plot as being the meddling of an in-game fictional character. But no, they tried to pass their fictional retelling of history as being accurate to real life and argued with anyone who tried to convince them otherwise.
@vio yes, but this is for casuals who don’t want to spend money on the NeoGeo games. I have a lot of NeoGeo games on Switch, not FF Special though. Waiting for a sale for that one.
@liljmoore Mega Man is in the new Sonic Racing game.
@Serpenterror I’ll play Bubsy on NSO but no way am I buying the collection or 4D.
@Mana_Knight The first world is pretty easy. Make sure to change mouse speed to fast. You may want to choose slow Peach to get used to the game. You need to react quickly and be accurate with clicking in later stages.
@SillyG You’re experiencing seeing the artwork right now with your free to use eyes. You don’t need to be able to play the games to decide which of the two packaging art you prefer more.
Here are the list of first party games that Nintendo could release on NSO. I’m not including mainline Pokemon games as I know they won’t be released. I did include some games that have had remakes on Switch though.
Advance Wars Game ‘n Watch Gallery 4 Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland Donkey Kong Country Advance Wars 2 Pokemon Pinball Mario vs. Donkey Kong Mario Golf: Advance Tour Mario Pinball Land Donkey Kong Country 2 Mario Party Advance WarioWare Twisted Yoshi Topsy-Turvy DK: King of Swing Donkey Kong Country 3 Dr. Mario / Puzzle League Mario Tennis: Power Tour Drill Dozer
I watched it once on launch day and had a good time. If you were to remove / ignore / be unaffected by all the references, it would not be a good movie. But as a Mario fan for the past 35 years, I was watching out for all the references. I wanted to laugh out loud at the inclusion of the Super Show theme tune.
BUT I also saw there were a lot of questionable decisions by the writers and casting directors. Maybe because it is that I’m now in my 40s but there were some scenes that felt pointless, empty or overly long. At worse, maybe a little mean spirited and out of character. Mario shouldn’t have to go through a training montage. Mario shouldn’t have to waste time dealing with a dog on a plumbing job. The actors shouldn’t just read the lines in their regular normal voice; they should put on a funny voice to match the character they are playing as. I feel like big name stars want the audience to recognise their voice in all new animation now instead of trying to give the character their own unique voice.
In the 70s, 80s and 90s voice actors would play many roles, sometimes even multiple characters in the same show and sound different for each of their characters. That’s how it should be. I didn’t get that with the Mario movie. So some of the voices sounded off to me. Although not big name stars, the actors of the original 80s and 90s Mario cartoons sounded better to me.

With NSO, I’ll take quantity over quality.
