Re: Soapbox: Forget Marvel, The Perfect Capcom Crossover Is Simpler Than You Think

I think the next main fighting game or spin-off should be Capcom X Street Fighter with half the cast being from Street Fighter and the other half being from a variety of different Capcom games.

Or Capcom Fighting Evolution/Jam 2 which would be much better game than the original but would only have a maximum of four representatives from each franchise. Street Fighter as a whole would be represented by only four characters.

I had avoided the original for years as I had never played the actual Borderlands games and had no interest. I had played The Walking Dead, Batman and A Wolf Among Us and enjoyed them. Then when Tales From The Borderlands went on sale this year, I downloaded it and quite enjoyed it. I’ll be looking into this new one.

@HammerGalladeBro America didn’t get Puyo Puyo so no need to release Kirby’s Avalanche in Japan because it’s just an Americanisation of Puyo Puyo.

And Kirby’s Star Stacker came out late in the Super Famicom’s life in 1997 that the Nintendo 64 had already been released so no point bringing it to America as it just wouldn’t have sold.

@CharlieGirl Yeah, sure I get you want to play the quirky games just because they’re quirky - but going back to them now you’ll see they actually aren’t that enjoyable to play games despite them being quirky. Many just don’t hold up any more and several didn’t hold up as being enjoyable in the 90s either when they were new.

I downloaded this as part of the “two cats, one dog” bundle for £0.89. For less than £1 for three small basic games, it was okay. This is the only way you should download this game; it’s a serious rip-off at full price - DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE!

It’s an easy platform game for kids. I breezed through the fifty stages in twenty - thirty minutes. You jump on all the other animals to complete the stage. That’s it. There’s no story, no timer, no lives, no puzzles, no points, no bonuses, no bosses, no bottomless pits, not even a number showing how many animals you have left to jump on to complete the stage. You don’t have any special moves and there are no items to pick up. The platforming is very simple and the stages are short; the only slight challenge is that some of the animals are quicker than others, and a few occasions there is limited room to jump. The dog is cute with a wagging tail and controls well enough; the jumping mechanics are decent for such a simple game. It was satisfying jumping on multiple enemies without touching the ground but the game doesn’t reward you for doing so. The only enemy that gives you any trouble is the mushroom as it can hit you if you are standing slightly over the edge of a one block high platform. Once you jump on all the animals, the stage ends and the next stage starts. There are only three different backgrounds - grass, ice and fire and I think there is only one background music running throughout. If there is more than one, it didn’t stand out as being different. Having completed all fifty stages, there is no incentive to replay them. It was fun for the low cost I paid for it but it’s definitely a game for young kids. I can pretend that this was originally an NES or Game Boy game from the 80s remastered for the Switch. Again, definitely do not download it at full price; check for a bundle on sale or wait for one if it’s not currently on sale.

I have to rate this a 1/10 for the high cost they are charging for it. But because of the bundle being on sale, it’s the most enjoyable 1/10 game I’ve played and was worth the £0.30 I paid for it. I played it for longer than some games I paid more for.

Just got this in the sale and completed the first chapter. Enjoying it so far. I don’t know anything about the Borderlands series before this.
