Yes! This! Nintendo fans also don’t seem to understand that Metroid has never been a major seller, so it would make no sense to invest tens of millions of dollars into a game that, at best, will sell 1.5-2 million copies.

Like I said, Nintendo fans are obnoxious when it comes to the things they choose to complain about.

This is why I hate Nintendo fans sometimes:

You gripe for years about wanting a trailer, or an announcement then you get a trailer and complain because…..the gameplay is too similar to….Metroid Prime?

Ugh.

My predictions:

-third party indie games.
-DLC
-a surprise port or two

Guys, Nintendo is not going to release another huge game, and they’d be foolish if they did. They’ve done an awesome job of maintaining the quality of their output, over seven years! I want them to maintain that same quality throughout the life of the next console.

Considering that the Switch is still selling well, over seven years into its life, is amazing! At this point, I honestly would like to see smaller games and ports. Save the big stuff for the next console!

I would love to see a rerelease of the Monkey Island games, though I’m not banking on it.

For the people complaining about this being a Partner’s Showcase……do you not want Nintendo to have anything to release for the Switch 2 launch? The fact that we still have Paper Mario and Princess Peach to look forward to, in the 7th year, is pretty amazing!

Im happy to receive some small third party gems to round out the life of the console, especially if it means that Nintendo comes out full throttle for the next gen’s launch.

They should remake Faxanadu!

I’d love to see them make the jump into the 1990’s. Ridge Racer, Cyber Sled, Soul Edge, Time Killers (awful game, but I have nostalgia for it)….

I wish that some deal could be reached that would result in the release of Midway classics! I would kill to see Smash TV, Arch Rivals, Root Beer Tapper, etc.

Nope, if you’re not going to bother getting PS3 games to run great on Switch, and cut corners by making it a 90% download, then you can kiss my money goodbye. Bye, bye WB! Say goodbye to the money that would have been all yours, had you actually put forth a decent effort!

With the end of the Switch’s lifespan approaching, in the next couple of years, I’m done buying games that aren’t 100% on the game card. What did they end up putting on the card? The title screens?

Is it true that the only games included on the actual card itself are the MSX/NES games? If that’s true, that’s pretty pathetic.

I always loved the NES game, so this is a day one!

They’re in a great position, so long as they create something that is market friendly. Three years in and the PS5/Xbox are mostly living off of enhanced ports of PS4/XB1 games! Switch 2, or whatever it will be called, will automatically have the quality exclusive first party titles, but they’ll also hopefully have a good amount of quality third party support as a result of the success found on Switch (Monster Hunter Rise sold nearly 8 million! When is the last time a third party game sold that well on a Nintendo console? Street Fighter II on SNES?).

I was hoping that they would have just polished the first game and released it as a downloadable! Why are they calling it Mortal Kombat 1 again?

As much as it pains me—Punch Out being my absolute favorite franchise—I doubt Nintendo will touch it, given how our current climate is. It would be a lightning Rod for controversy.

These articles are so frustrating because they have been ongoing for years! Nintendo landed on an amazing idea that not only reversed their fortunes, but it also gave them something they haven’t seen much of since the 16-bit era: meaningful third party support! When is the last time a 3rd party game sold 8 million copies on Nintendo hardware?

I sincerely hope that Nintendo sticks with the hybrid concept, but I have this feeling that they won’t.

@eltomo six years later? That would make as much sense as Sega releasing the 32x. Nintendo needs to announce their next full console in the next year.

Buying a TG16 Mini at launch was the smartest gaming purchase I’ve made in a long time! Not only is it one of the best classic minis, it goes for such ridiculous prices! My only regret is that I didn’t pick up extra controllers.

I’m calling it now: Tears of the Kingdom will be delayed to the holidays and the Switch successor will land this upcoming November. The cross platform strategy works for them and I want to see the next console front loaded with a busy first year release calendar

Usually when a company goes a full decade without releasing a game, they’re usually a dead company.

Man, this is like my 1990 dream come true! I am so excited to see that this sticks to the look of the source material! I’ll be seeing this opening weekend with my daughter!

Sony has been offering PS2 games for download since, what, 2008 or so? Wii U offered a selection of Wii games for download.

In 2022, people are asking for GBA/GB games over Gamecube games, a console that has never received its due. There is no reason Nintendo can’t offer these games.

Honestly, I’m perfectly fine with the next Metroid launching on the next console.

Personally, and I know I’m in the vast minority, I kind of wish they would have sat on Tears of the Kingdom until the next generation just so they’d have that giant game at launch. It’s not like Switch is exactly starving for Zelda titles since you can play Zelda 1, 2, LttP, Link’s Awakening, OoT, MM, SS, and BotW on it!

What I’d really like to see with the remainder of the Switch cycle is a focus on AA franchises like Punch Out, Wave Race, 1080, etc. Nintendo have provided Switch with an insane amount of Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Pokémon content. They should ride it into the sunset with some of their neglected franchises.

Honestly, I’d rather have the port of Shenmue 1 and 2 on Switch.

They’ve already made it clear that a Dreamcast Mini is prohibitively expensive.

I really don’t see this happening. Switch is inching up on its sixth year, and I’m sure that we’ll start seeing information of its successor next year. I think next year will be when sales start dropping significantly.

Or they could give us the arcade games? As much as I did love MK2 on snes, the less said of MK1 on the platform the better. MK 3 was an admirable effort, but it was miles behind the arcade game, itself very average.

Also, there are several third party releases worth getting excited over:

-Bayonetta 3
-Sports Story
-Hollow Knight Silksong
-The Cuphead expansion
-Xenoblade 3

The console is flooded with quality releases, and we’ll get a robust Direct when it’s time. And then people can complain about THAT Direct too.

Same! After I finally beat Elden Ring, I’m jumping right into Triangle and, hopefully, I’ll have that beat before Splatoon 3. I’m also really hoping to see Silkwood released this Fall!

Awesome! Some of my favorite Switch games are 3rd party! I feel sorry for those who refuse to play anything but 1st party, which is absolutely ridiculous.

I wish that there would be a huge blowout on ACA/Neo Geo games. I would gladly break the bank on a sale like that!

I gave up on Nintendo giving us Gamecube support ages ago. Honestly, I’d rather slowly rebuild my library. None of the top-tier games are unaffordable. Expensive, maybe, but how many of the must-play games top $100? Cubivore? Not really a must-play.

See, this would have been a great game for them to release on the Atari VCS! It’s sad that Switch is receiving more Atari support than Atari’s own console!

I would sell my soul, and yours, for a rerelease of Crazy Taxi with the OG soundtrack! I know it probably won’t happen….but crazier things HAVE happened!

I’m not getting my hopes up, but this is definitely something Nintendo would reveal in a Direct. It could still happen.

I wish Namco would make something this comprehensive! Seriously, what is stopping them from giving us a new Namco Museum that contains:

-Pole Position
-Cyber Sled
-Tekken
-Ridge Racer
-Soul Edge
-Galaga 88
-Steel Gunner
-Mario Kart GP (Switch exclusive)

There’s only two games that could make me care about that company again: Boom Blox Remaster and Fight Night. Other than that? Eh, because we all know they’ll never give Road Rash the revival it deserves.
