Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES Service With Three More Titles

BanjoPickles

A few things:

1). The people who, month after month, beg for licensed games like TMNT—are you high? How do you not understand how licensing works?

2). The big guns such as Capcom, Konami, and the like have already released many of their biggest games, for purchase. You can have basically the entire 8/16 bit Contra and Castlevania libraries; every mainline Mega Man and X game is available to purchase. Every pre-Street Fighter IV entry is available for purchase. Square Enix has rereleased pretty much every Mana game, and I promise that Final Fantasy I-6 will make it to the Switch eventually.

I’ll admit that these games do kind of suck (there’s usually at least one game worth defending). However, try to be realistic. You’re not getting Ninja Turtles, or X-Men, or the Simpsons Arcade. They rereleased them on PS3/360, but they must not have sold all that well because no further attempt has been made to make them more widely available.

Re: The First Review For The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Is Now In

@frabbit

Exactly! I love almost every Zelda, save for the DS games, and Skyward Sword. I remember buying it, after reading all of the perfect scores, and scratching my head.

Breath of the Wild felt like a 10/10 game. It felt fresh, and it sucked me in like few other games have. Honestly, it felt like the closest thing to the first Zelda since.....the first Zelda. Here’s a big open world. Go explore it! It gave me those same vibes.

Skyward Sword is a well-made game, but nothing about it felt inspired. Honestly, though, I was okay with it because Nintendo’s track record with the franchise has been nothing short of amazing, considering how long it has been around. Has there really been a bad mainline Zelda game? People will say Zelda II, but I personally love it. It’s also a well-designed game.

Honestly, this was always my least favorite Zelda. The one review I had to tip my hat to was Gamespot’s. They basically said “if this didn’t have the name Zelda attached to it, it’d be seen as just an average, run-of-the-mill adventure game” before giving it a 7.5.

It isn’t a bad game, at all, but it certainly isn’t on the same level as Wind Waker, Ocarina, or Breath of the Wild.

Re: We Could Have Had A New "Ultra-Realistic" F-Zero On Switch, But Nintendo Turned It Down

BanjoPickles

As cold as this may sound, Nintendo fans, as a collective, have nobody to blame but themselves. When a game like Breath of the Wild sells 20 million copies, Nintendo responds, in kind, by delivering a sequel within the same generation. When a franchise like Metroid, or F-Zero, or Punch Out fizzles, they’ll put it to sleep for years, if not decades.

I saw so many modern Nintendo fans whining about Metroid Dread because they wanted info on Bayonetta 3 and more info on the new Zelda. Many of these people would prefer to be spoonfed the same franchises, over and over again. Unfortunately, franchises like F-Zero end up paying the price.

It’s kind of like Shenmue. So many gamers begged for an HD remaster. It only took about twenty years, but it finally saw the light of day, aaaaand......it tanked.

Re: Nintendo Says It's "Working Hard" On Metroid Prime 4

BanjoPickles

Let’s be realistic about this:

Chances are, this is going to be a 2024 release and, if that’s the case, I see this being released as a next gen title. If the next console releases in ‘23, I’d personally be okay with MP4 being one of the big games released for it. This sort of thing happens all the time, and at least Switch received its own exclusive Metroid.

@john_lennon999

It's not like there is nothing to play, between now and then. With all due respect, if you can't find at least a few games out of the following that interest you, then is your disappointment really with the Switch/Nintendo:

-No More Heroes III
-Metroid Dread
-Mario Tennis
-Warioware: Get It Together
-SMTV
-NEO: The World Ends With You
-Mario + Rabbids 2
-Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
-Hollow Knight Silksong

And, of course, it's not like there won't be surprise announcements/releases, along the way. Compared to every other company, Nintendo absolutely killed it this year.

Re: New Animated Series Of Castlevania Confirmed For Netflix

BanjoPickles

@Robzilla

That would be awesome! Here’s what I would love to see:

-Castlevania Collection 2: a collection containing Symphony of the Night, Castlevania 64, Legends, Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow.

-A new 2D Castlevania that is sprite based and has the same feel as Super IV, or Bloodlines.

-a new 3D entry.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles

BanjoPickles

For the people who spend all their time auto-complaining whenever new titles are announced (“these games are terrible! I’ve never even heard of them.” What an asinine statement), here’s your solution:

The Switch’s unofficial Virtual Console mops the floor with what was offered on Wii and Wii U.

*deep breath

-Castlevania Anniversary Collection
-Contra anniversary
-Atari Flashback Collection
-Blizzard Arcade Collection
-Sega Genesis Collection
-SNK 40th Anniversary Collection
-Kunio Kun/Double Dragon Collection
-Collection of Mana
-Saga Collection
-Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle
-Capcom Arcadium (or whatever it’s called)
-Neo Geo Pocket Collection
-Mario 3D All Stars
-Johnny Turbo Arcade releases
-Sega Ages line
-Arcade Archives
-Hamster arcade rereleases
-oddities like Night Trap, Double Switch, Corpse Killer, Flashback, etc.
-Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

There you have it. Hundreds of old school games that you can actually own.

Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages

BanjoPickles

The rumor mill is every bit as bad as those toxic fans. It’s a big reason why I roll my eyes at all rumors, and believe nothing until it is officially announced. Sites like Nintendo Life spent months, or longer, pushing this narrative that it was pretty much all but guaranteed. It’s ridiculous. File Metroid Prime Trilogy in the same drawer as games like Grand Theft Auto 5. Simply put, they’re not coming to Switch.
