This is seriously the best gaming news I’ve heard in a long time, and an absolute day one!

I told my daughter that pretty soon I want to start having a monthly night at the arcades, where we stay up late and play nothing but old arcade classics. The only thing I need to do is beef up my Neo Geo collection.

I actually kind of wish that they would do something similar to what Microsoft did several years ago. I forget what the service was called, and it was far from perfect, but you could visit a virtual online arcade, play with people from around the world, and you had the option to either play the old fashioned way with virtual currency or simply buy the games outright. I would love to have a virtual room where I could set the arcades up. Better yet, it’d be cool to be able to integrate that concept into Animal Crossing and have an arcade in your basement where you could invite friends to your island to play arcade games.

Btw, I don’t know if you’re a fan of the Kunio game’s, but the Double Dragon and Kunio Collection is currently half off on the NA eshop! I snagged it up immediately.

Omg! Yes! Between this and Super Punch Out, I am so close to having every classic arcade game I’ve ever wanted!

Stupid question, but I do know that Popeye is in the public domain in Europe. If that’s the case, I would assume that it would make things easier on Nintendo. I can’t find any info on the status of Popeye in the states, though. Man, I would love to see a Popeye rerelease!

On top of that, so many companies—both big and small—have done their presentations. I’ve heard the excuse used “when Nintendo has something to show, they will,” which is even worse because they’ve had ten months. At this point, Nintendo fans are going to develop unrealistic expectations that Nintendo will be unable to meet.

I’m usually one who doesn’t complain about Directs, but considering that both Sony and Microsoft were able to put together full presentations for the XBX/PS5 reveals, I’m finding it harder to accept the excuse that this is all related to the pandemic.

The silence is becoming increasingly deafening.

For @AntiMatter, I sincerely hope they release The Sims. Other than that, there are precious few things they could offer that would excite me:

-a new Fight Night.
-a rerelease of the 3DO Road Rash
-Boom Blox

Other than that? They can stuff their support.

Nintendo could make up for the lack of game announcements by focusing their attention on NSO.

Yes!!!! I have always wanted to play the arcade of Super Punch Out, and it’s been at the top of my most wanted list since the first was released.

As much as I love the big stuff on Switch, I think that having such a huge selection of classic and obscure arcade games is my favorite thing about it. I’m really hoping to see some more stuff from the 1990’s, along with Super Punch Out, Kangaroo, some licensed stuff (I can dream), Smash TV, Paperboy, etc.

I wish that Sega would dust off Virtua Fighters 1 and 2.

man, I wish that Double Dragon and Kunio would go on sale! $40 is a tough pill to swallow, but I'd throw down $20-25 for it!

Unless it’s Fight Night, Road Rash, Boom Blox, a General Chaos remake, or any of the other really good franchises that EA abandoned to be the most non-gaming related game developer in existence then I’m not interested.

They can shove Madden, lootbboxes, and their UFC suckfests.

It just makes no sense because Namco was one of the key players in revitalizing the arcade market in the 1990’s. You would think that they didn’t do anything past 1987, based on their compilations.

I wonder if Namco will ever acknowledge anything other than their early work. What’s stopping them from rereleasing the following:

-Ridge Racer
-Tekken 1-3
-Soul Edge

• Soul Caliber 1 and 2
  Point Blank
  Time Crisis

To be perfectly honest, this looks like something my six year old daughter would play on her tablet.

.....four games? So, considering that they’re charging, what, $50 for this, they couldn’t put all 16 games on a single unit?

That is true. Also, there would be some games that, to the best of my knowledge, have never seen rerelease such as Defenders of Oasis, Ax Battler, and Land of Illusion.

I guess that I could see a GG Mini lineup looking something like this:

1). Sonic 1
2). Sonic 2
3). Streets of Rage 2
4). Shining Force
5). Ecco the Dolphin
6). GG Shinobi
7). Gunstar Heroes
8). Mega Man (maybe?)
9). Fatal Fury Special (surely Sega could iron out a deal for this? It was actually a shockingly-good port)
10). Land of Illusion
11). Sonic Drift
12). Bubble Bobble
13). Columns
14). Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
15). Jungle Strike, or Road Rash (if Road Rash 2 can make it to the Genesis Mini, then surely one of these two can make it to the GG)
16). Vampire: Master of Darkness

Fill out the remainder of the list with the likes of Sonic: Triple Trouble, and a few out-of-left field picks and it would definitely be worth the $50. Like I said, my old man hands probably won't get much mileage from a product like this, but my daughter absolutely loves the Genesis and Turbografx-16 Mini, so I may surprise her with this. It'd be ideal for a six year old's hands.

That is true, though I vaguely remember the Mega Man being kind of crap.

Game Gear had a pretty decent library, but most of the best games were simply watered down versions of what was offered on the MD/Genesis (Streets of Rage, Sonic).

I suppose I could get this for my daughter, since her hands are small enough for it.

As much as I like the Game Gear, I don’t know if I see the point. You can already get several of the best titles on 3DS, along with the console versions of games like Streets of Rage 1 and 2, Gunstar Heroes. What non-licensed exclusives could they offer? The Genesis Mini made sense.

If anything, I think that the Dreamcast deserves a mini. It may not have sold well, but it’s at least deserving of a second glance.

Soul Caliber II HD, or Dark Souls II! Please!

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of the first Ridge Racer.

Argh! Don’t show us a picture of a Gamecube unless it’s to tell us that the library is being remastered! Ha!

I was excited about XCom and Bioshock, but it seems very suspect that there hasn't been a single review of any of the three games, and they're coming out tomorrow. I'm really hoping that they turn out okay.

Absolutely. The difficulty, the opportunity to delve deeper into the mythology. Kid Icarus on 3DS was a fun game completely hampered by one of the most awkward control schemes I’ve ever seen. I could see the series being revived as Nintendo’s answer to Bloodborne. Obviously, it wouldn’t be that dark.

I wish that From Software would give Nintendo the Demon Souls/Bloodborne treatment and develop an exclusive. I think that From Software and Kid Icarus would be a great match.

Have you ever youtubed obscure arcade games from the 1980's? It's mind-boggling! I'm really hoping that they continue to release a few games every month, because there is so much left in the tank.

What I would like to do, at some point, is just go on a buying spree and check out a bunch of games that I had never heard of.

I’m interested. I may add it, at some point.

Honestly, I’m glad that Hamster is digging so deeply into arcade’s past, instead of releasing obvious classics. So many of these games have never seen the light of day, and it is sort of cool to find out just how big the arcade industry was back then. This also gives me hope that Kangaroo will one day see release.

Well, if Nintendo is, as rumored, releasing remasters of the 3D Mario games, I’m sure they don’t want these floating around.

Now would be a good time to add N64 games to NSO, to help soften the blow.

I see this as a positive thing, believe it or not. I get the feeling that whenever they get around to doing their substitution for their E3 Direct, it is going to be massive! The Switch, since release, has always had a number of games waiting in the wings, and I’m sure that will be the case for the next two years. After all, we still haven’t received:

-a new Pikmin
-Metroid Prime 4
-the Breath of the Wild Sequel
-Punch Out
-Kid Icarus
-Pilotwings
-F-Zero
-Starfox
-A Wii Sports equivalent

We’ve heard rumors of Mario remasters, there’s a Mother announcement sometime this year (Mother 4 most likely won’t happen), and there’s always the possibility of a new franchise.

Both Zaxxon and Congo Bongo would be day one buys for me too! I completely forgot about a few arcade games I would love to see: Tapper, Robotron 2084, Q-Bert, Berzerk, Gauntlet, Rampage......

Man, I didn't realize how hardcore I was about arcades until I started creating a wishlist of arcade games I want on Switch.

I would love to see Earthbound/Mother remade, from the ground up, but....it was never a huge success, so I don't know how it would break records.

Honestly, this wouldn’t surprise me at all.

And I’m actually okay with that because my current backlog is insane, and I don’t need the onslaught of temptation to make things worse. As of right now, I still need to finish:

-Shenmue 1, 2, 3 (PS4)
-Luigi’s Mansion 3
-Pokémon Sword
-Final Fantasy 7R
-All 3 games in Collection of Mana
-Link’s Awakening Remake
-Dragon Quest 11 (Switch)
-Wolfenstein (Switch)

I also wanted to spend time with Animal Crossing, Mario Maker 2’s latest update, etc..

I am completely and totally drowning in stuff to play....oh, and I have Streets of Rage 4 heading my way too.

DK Arcade was a complete shocker! I am so happy that Nintendo has finally opened the vaults to their arcade games. I hadn’t played Punch Out since ‘88. I’m.....not very good at it.

I’m really hoping they get around to releasing Super Punch Out eventually.

Nope. Given the lack of effort they have put into the past releases on Switch, I’m done with them. I’ll still with 3 Count Bout on Neo Geo.

@MeloMan @KnightRider666 holy crap, I finally found the other two people who remember this game! My family and I used to vacation at Pin Oak Lodge in Tennessee, and they had a Kangaroo arcade. I pumped so many quarters into it, every year!

I actually bought a 5200 just for that game, about sixteen years ago! It didn’t come close to the arcade, but it was nice to finally be able to play it again!

I do wonder who, if anybody, holds the rights to it.

Man, Burger Time puts Switch one step closer towards having nearly every arcade game I’ve ever cared about! Now, all they need are the following:

-Kangaroo
-The Simpsons
-TMNT
-Crazy Taxi
-Virtua Fighter
-Super Punch Out!
-Smash TV
-Marvel Vs. Capcom

I'm excited to take the world maker for a test run next weekend, but.....I don't know how many worlds I'll be playing since the vast majority of levels seem to be either obnoxiously difficult or auto-running. If all you're going to do is throw a million enemies at the screen, or fill your levels with cheap deaths (i.e. doors that lead to a fire pit), then don't even bother.
