Re: Rumour: Sony Could Be Raiding Konami For Castlevania, Metal Gear And Silent Hill IP

BanjoPickles

Honestly, I’m okay with Castlevania and Contra being left in the past. There hasn’t been an indisputably great entry since Aria, maybe Dawn, and IGA isn’t coming back. I would love to see a return to the series’ roots, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Contra has seen two good entries in twenty-five years: Contra 4 and Shattered Soldier. The latest was bottom of the barrel. The series deserved so much better!

Honestly, though, with games like Blazing Chrome, Hollow Knight, and so many other run and guns/Metroidvanias, does the world really need another piece of crap like Mirror of Fate, or Rogue Corps?

Re: Guide: Every Arcade Archives Game On Nintendo Switch, Plus Our Top Picks

BanjoPickles

What’s really awesome is that, apart from a number of licensed titles that will probably never see the light of day, I have my entire childhood arcade experience on Switch in the form of the Konami arcade collection, Namco Arcade, Johnny Turbo, Arcade Archives, and Sega Ages.

If we could somehow get the following, I would have every arcade game I’ve ever cared about:

-Crazy Taxi
-TMNT
-The Simpsons
-X Men
-NBA Jam (not a chance)
-Die Hard Arcade
-Virtua Fighter
-Pit Fighter
-Super Punch Out
-Kangaroo

Re: Feature: The Most Jaw-Dropping Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2019

BanjoPickles

Games I would love to see in 2020:

-GTA V (after playing Witcher III, I believe it’s possible)
-The Shenmue Collection
-Dark Souls II and/or III
-licensing deals for The Simpsons Arcade, TMNT, X-Men, and so forth. Will it happen? Not a chance!
-HD remasters of select GameCube games.
-Red Dead Redemption 1

Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?

BanjoPickles

@WiltonRoots

I agree. Even if I took out the fact that I have a full time job, a family, and school, I’d still be falling behind on all of the games I want to play. 20 snes games dropped in September, right? Many of those games take at least a few hours to complete—Link to the Past, Mario World, Super Metroid, Yoshi’s Island, Earthbound—and those are just the games that come with the online service. In the past few months, we’ve seen Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokémon Sword/Shield, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest XI, Astral Chain, Witcher 3, and countless great games come out on the eshop.

There is more than enough to play!

Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?

BanjoPickles

Well, let’s look at this logically:

1). Super Castlevania IV is out, due to its inclusion on the Castlevania collection.
2). Contra III is out because of the Contra collection.
3). Secret of Mana is out due to the Mana Collection.
4). Mega Man 7 is out due to the collection.
5). X 1-3 are out.
6). Square Enix would probably release Chrono Trigger, FF IV and VI on the Eshop individually.
7). Wild Guns is out due to the remake.
8). Sim City is out due to copyright issues.
9). TMNT IV copyright issues.
10). Final Fight 2 and 3 could eventually be released.
11). Act raiser 1 and 2 haven’t seen a single rerelease.
12). Zombies Ate My Neighbors could eventually see a release.
13). DKC 2 and 3 could see a rerelease.

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

BanjoPickles

@Mallow

Absolutely! Even if Nintendo didn’t release another game for the SNES online, we now have more than our money’s worth! This service shouldn’t be the centerpiece of the Switch’s library, but people are making it out to be.

Also, when SNES games were just a rumor, how many did you think we’d get at launch? Five? Maybe ten? No, they gave us twenty! They gave us almost every first party title in the original launch window (Pilotwings, Mario World, F-Zero), and three of their very best games of all time (LttP, Super Metroid, and Yoshi’s Island)! Apart from the DKC trilogy, Super Punch Out, Earthbound, and a few others, they essentially gave us most of their SNES games in one day! Unlike the NES offerings—many of which were also great—the bulk of these games will take time to plow through!

So, where do we go from here? Bring on the N64 games! What, no Goldeneye?! This service is such a ripoff!

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

BanjoPickles

Honestly, I don’t see it as a big deal. If you just signed on for a full year, you get, what, sixty-plus 8/16-bit games, many of which are classics? There are also a lot of games that simply aren’t going to appear on the service because they’re available in separate compilations (Castlevania, Mega Man, Street Fighter II, Contra).

Also, given the sheer volume of games that are coming out in the immediate future, snes games are somewhat of a low priority. I can’t keep up!

Re: Elder Scrolls Online Director Says The Nintendo Switch Isn't "Powerful Enough" To Run The Game

BanjoPickles

@Kinpatsu

I’m overwhelmed, brother! I mean, Astral Chains on Friday, Mana Collection next Tuesday, Link’s Awakening in a few weeks, Daemon X Machina less than two weeks later, followed by Witcher 3, then Luigi’s Mansion 3, then Pokémon, Doom Eternal......and I still haven’t gotten around to playing Fire Emblem, Wolfenstein Youngblood, Mortal Kombat 11, Friday the 13th (my favorite horror franchise, so I’m excited to play the game), Warframe, and so many others!

Argh!

Re: Reminder: Two More NES Games Hit The Switch, Plus Another Special Version Of Gradius

BanjoPickles

Annoying opinion: if it isn’t Super Mario 3, Punch Out, Zelda, or Kirby, it’s garbage that I don’t want.

VPD is actually a really fantastic game! Come on, already! Step out of your constant demand for things that have been rereleased a million times, across several platforms, and try something new! By doing so, you’re sending the message that hidden gems are appreciated, and that will have a positive impact on their inevitable SNES releases.

Re: The Witcher 3 Switch eShop File Size Revealed

BanjoPickles

@Tasuki

Then buy it there. Why do people assume that porting a game across completely incompatible platforms is as easy as copy and paste? Thousands of hours probably went into porting the game, and the perk is being able to carry the game anywhere you go.

$60 is very reasonable, considering it includes all DLC. What, were you expecting them to invest all of the time and resources only to release it for $20?

Re: Feature: Super Nintendo Games We’d Like To See On Nintendo Switch Online

BanjoPickles

Games you won’t see:

-FF IV-VI
-Secret of Mana
-Secret of Evermore
Chrono Trigger
-Actraiser 1 or 2
-TMNT, or any of the awesome licensed Konami games.
-Sim City
-Mega Man anything
-Castlevania IV/Dracula X
-Contra III
-Any of the Street Fighters

Mega Man, Contra, Castlevania, and Street Fighter have collections available. Square Enix is not going to allow their SNES library to be given away for nothing, and they also have a Mana Collection.

No offense, but some of you are being laughably unrealistic.

Re: Switch SNES Controller Confirmed, Nintendo Switch Online SNES Games Next?

BanjoPickles

Sorry to be THAT guy, but......big deal? If you want SNES games on the go, dust off your 3DS, which has games available that will never hit the Switch online service (Super Castlevania, Dracula X, Mega Man X 1-3, Contra III). You also have the option of the SNES Classic, the Wii U VC, etc. SNES games on Switch isn’t really all that major. Now, if they offered N64 or GC games, THAT would be something!

You’re basically begging for something that is readily available.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Sold 36.87 Million Units, Could Pass SNES Total By Christmas

BanjoPickles

@koaeinferno

Side by side, if you’re looking at only first party games, it’s actually more equal than you think:

SNES had one Mario, Switch has one new Mario and a rerelease

SNES had one Zelda, Switch has one new Zelda and an upcoming Remake.

SNES had the DKC trilogy, Switch has DKC: Tropical Freeze

SNES had Fire Emblem as a Japan exclusive while Switch has Three Houses.

SNES had Super Metroid, while Switch is getting Metroid Prime 4

SNES had Super Mario Kart, while Switch has Mario Kart 8.

SNES had Kirby Superstar and Dreamland 3 while Switch has Star Allies

SNES had Yoshi’s Island, Switch has Crafted World.

1st party SNES games that don’t have a Switch sequel

-Pilotwings
-F-Zero
-Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball
-Earthbound
-Super Punch Out
-Starfox
-Super Mario RPG

1st party Switch games that didn’t appear on SNES

-Arms
-Splatoon 2
-Super Smash Ultimate
-Xenoblade 2
-Hyrule/FE Heroes
-Luigi’s Mansion 3
-the upcoming Animal Crossing

What you’re probably referring to is the 3rd party support. SNES is one of my all-time favorite consoles, and I would agree with you that SNES had some of the best 3rd party exclusives of all time.....but those exclusives have become a rarity across the board. It’s impractical for third parties to commit to one platform.

To say that Switch has five games, though? Even Atari Jaguar had more than five good games! Lol

Yes, there are several games that are rereleases/anthologies, but they’re still great games and they contribute to a library that is Nintendo’s most impressive in a very long time.
