BakaKnight

" it’s still sort of 'stealthed' its way to release"

No joke, I had no clue it was been localized O_O
Totally missed the news. Then again it really got overshadowed, just checked and so little promotion was done that there have been only one single article about it here on NL, PKMN and AC definitely got a couple more XD

Anyway very interested in it, but now is a bit too last-minute for a purchase. In the wishlist it goes~

Re: GBA Classic Yggdra Union Is Coming To Switch Next Month

BakaKnight

Yggdra Union, how can I forget it?
The Puyo Puyo of TRPGs, buy it cause it looks like a fun, cute, lovely time, run away in tears and stop playing cause it's a merciless game on a mission to torture anyone daring to play it.

...okay, maybe I'm exagerating, but YU hides a crazy hard tactic game behind those huge (even for anime standards) moe eyes.

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Campaign Raises More Than $1 Million In Just Over 12 Hours

BakaKnight

I... I kinda don't get it...
Loved the Wonderful 101 on Wii U, but it has always been there floating in the Wii U library as that good game very few cared or actually wanted to play.

Why now so many people are tossing money to play it like it is some kind of never released lost game?
Sometimes I feel like noone even noticed the Wii U existed @.@

Anyway very glad for Platinum Games and of course very glad that this little hidden gem of a game is getting a second chance to shine.

Re: Mobile Hit Fire Emblem Heroes Introduces A New Subscription-Based Service

BakaKnight

@Xylnox I understand why you are mixed, but my point is that (at least given the huge success and revenue the app made) that FEH looks far from a case of a game needing the money for the sake of the staff.
Not to mention honestly that sadly this is not something we should worry about. Yes, they do have people working behind these games, but some game companies have fired people or disbanded studios even when players did and paid everything to support their games, making meaningless to pay for the sake of the developers.

The only question is if it's worth the price of the service itself and as I said in my previous comment I don't think anything about it is justified. STILL this is just my opinion and you should decide by yourself if it's worthy or not, on that I can't help you ^^;

Re: Mobile Hit Fire Emblem Heroes Introduces A New Subscription-Based Service

BakaKnight

@Smashfan502 @Xylnox

I mean... I agree with you two that companies need money, especially to keep up a game like this constantly updating, but... This is a game that has been making millions with its (unfair and pricey) Gatcha system.

I honestly doubt the success FEH had so far wasn't enough to cover the cost of the features in the pass or that such features have an high manteinance cost that must requires a pass to make them avaiable.

Sure, the pass also offer two extra heroes a month, but at this point it feels more like "We had to paywall something behind this sub to force the playerbase to give us more money" then "We had to do this else we could never keep up working on this game" kind of deal.

Re: The Poor Old Nintendo 3DS Has Sold Just 620,000 Units In The Past Nine Months

BakaKnight

Let me get this straight... the 3DS sold 620.000 units in the last nine months, over half a million sales despite the 3DS models being impossible to find and the 2DS models being scarce and disappering from shelves.

Call that 620k low if you want, but this console is selling thousands even when noone is trying to actually sell it, it's impressive! (and a sheer testament of what a awesome little jewel the 3DS is ♥).

Re: UK Charts: WarioWare Gold Leaps From 827th To Fifth In Very Successful Week For 3DS

BakaKnight

Interesting...
Between Christmas and the begin of the year I bought some of the 3DS games I was missing (including WarioWare Gold actually) as the sales seemed a good chance to get some of the gems I was still missing in my collection.

Glad to see I'm not the only one still thinking about that wonderful little console that is the 3DS ♥
(Even if honestly... Those deals are so good... none of the games I bought were that much discounted XD;;; ).

Re: Review: Princess Maker – Faery Tales Come True - A Lazy Update Of An Often Boring Life Sim

BakaKnight

Just checked on steam after reading the review and there is a little mistake.
This switch version is not a port of the 2017 release, but the new "improved" HD remake released simultaneusly on PC and console.

It's not that they didn't fixed the game's translation for the Switch, but they ignored it completly despite rereleasing the game on every platform.
Also, judging by the users' reviews, the much needed fast forward feature was actually present with other QOL features in the 2017 release, but got removed for unknow reasons in this HD Remake.

After discovering all this I'm really confused...
If I understood all correctly, they took the already buggy 2017 port they made, ignored almost all the mistakes they did with it, removed some of the positives and then slapped on it a new HD resolution coat thinking they made a great remake...How can such a thing even happen? @_@

Re: You're Not Dreaming, This N64-Style Platformer Really Is Coming To Wii U

BakaKnight

This looks like a good free game to find on sites like GameJolt or itch.io, one of those attempts from a one man team to make a big type of game despite their limited resources and game making abilities, I can totally respect that.

However I'm not sure I can appreciate this game as much with that price tag and getting released on console without some extra polish (I know the Wii U is dead, but even the dead deserve some respect ;w; ).

Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Takes To The Stage With English Sub Overview Trailer

BakaKnight

This game is amazing, even if the trailer is a bit too spoiler happy, the bits showed were pretty much taken from the whole thing XD

At least they fixed the last part and clarified the new characters for the encore only join in the session/combo... which is a shame, full new party members were all I needed to buy this game again.

Honestly this will be a great game for those that skipped it on Wii U, but ironically it feels like they didn't add much to make it worth of an "Encore" for those that already played the original version.

Re: One Of Pokémon's Largest Fan Communities Bans Dynamaxing In Competitive Matches

BakaKnight

It's banned cause unpredictable?
Sounds weird.. I really thought it would be banned for the opposite reason...
Sure it can be unpredictable when it will be used, but everything else is way too predictable and repetitive about it.
All Pkmn gain the same (strong) attack moves, one single barrier as a stat move and double HP.

No offense to Dynamaxing, presentation wise it's very fun and a true spectacle fitting the story, but it feels like gameplay wise the devs went with the bare minimun of the concept.

Re: Never Again Kicks Off Switch's New Year With Some Spooky First-Person Horror

BakaKnight

Honestly the game's description is really "horror generic", but I think that's unavoidable.

Saw a let's play and the whole point of the game's story is to slowly noticing the context and what's really going on.

I can't say if this game deals properly with the subject it wants to tackle, but I do appreciate how the developer tried to keep the description simple and the trailer confusing to avoid spoilers.

Re: Random: Senran Kagura Was Almost Named 'Ninjugs' Here In The West

BakaKnight

It's just a name and I would have gave the game a chance anyway, but this sound so... so nineties...

I thought we left the "western audience won't buy such a japanese game, change the name!" attitude back in the ninties, kinda surprised to hear they still consider changes like that nowaday.

Or maybe it was to help understand the content? I mean..
I guess the game is really very subtle about those two aspects, totally not the selling point tossed in everyone face in every trailer, promotion material or even just the games' cover~

Re: Guide: How To Make Pokémon Sword And Shield More Difficult (And Fun)

BakaKnight

@Dm9982 @mmarkster You too?
I also have been using only PokéBalls to catch Pokémon since the 3rdGen XD
(Althought challange aside, I also like the original PokéBall design better).

And this is actually one of the thing that bothers me about Sw&Sh, I had to give up this challange...
Not fully, pretty much all my mon are in PokéBalls, but with MaxRaids giving you only a single shot to catch a Pokémon and the rarest ones having a low catch rate despite this, I had no choice but stock on different kind of PokéBalls for the first time in ages...

Re: Guide: How To Make Pokémon Sword And Shield More Difficult (And Fun)

BakaKnight

@Seananigans Sword and Shield literally shower you in exp candies; the grinding risk, which was always pretty low to begin with in Pokemon, has been completly removed already.

Forcing the exp share is honestly just overkill, especially with the game keeping most opponents at a low level just in case the player somehow still managed to fail to level up.

Re: The Pokémon Company Is Taking Legal Action Against Sword And Shield Leakers

BakaKnight

As many said, despite how much right there could be in suing the leakers, it sounds kinda funny.

I bought Shield, I played, beated and really enjoyed it, but if there is one thing that made me worry and almost not buy the game wasn't the leaks, it was the terrible "uncarefully badly cultivated and almost destroyed excitement and interest" they caused with their own planned PR.

I don't know what was wrong with Masuda, Ohmori and the Pokémon Company with those interview, but if they want to sue the cause of the damage in the excitement and interest around the games, then I'm sorry if this sound harsh, but they should probably consider to sue themselves then...

Re: Famitsu Reveals New Details About Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore

BakaKnight

And there goes my hype for the encore...
They should have said right away that the new characters "joining the battle" weren't fully playable.

Loved the WIi U version, so much so that, even if I rarely replay the games I beated, I would have gladly made an exception for TMS on Switch if there were more party members to use and swap around.
Like this however I doubt I'll "do an encore" (even if I'll have to check out the new songs, the original OST was amazing afterall! ).

Re: Pokémon Fans Get 'Game Freak Lied' Trending As Sword And Shield Drama Intensifies Yet Again

BakaKnight

I'll never get why they said all those lies...
We can even leave alone the models until further evidence, but...

"We are working hard on improved animation" - the animation style of SwSh is the same semplistic one of the previous entries.

"We are planning to have more balance between the Pokémon" - Asked in an interview about it, reply with "there is Dynamax" which has nothing to do with it.

"We heard the feedback that Let's go was too easy and we value such feedback" - Confirm ExpShare in the new games is mandatory (the only semi-option to influence the game difficulty in Sun and Moon).

They only had to say none of that and, while some backslash was still inevitable, they would have got half of it if not less.

Re: Game Freak "Excited" To See How Pokémon Sword And Shield Players Respond To The Wild Area's Camera

BakaKnight

It's... interesting how Ohmori's comment regard the free camera in such high regard...
After such comment I expect an high level quality camera control, full directions, maybe a zoom and perfect collision and management of obstacles.

If it's just a basic "the camera spin around in 360° degree" then this comment will become legendary for all the wrong reasons...

Re: Console Gaming Microtransaction Revenue Has Slowly Declined Throughout 2019

BakaKnight

@KitsuneNight
A full crush sounds drastic and unlikely.
Hopefully things will change and calm down for the better once the companies causing all these problems will start to not make enough money to meet their greedy expectations.

I just fear that it will still take a few years or more before the actual decline will get drastic enough to cause such a change...

Re: Console Gaming Microtransaction Revenue Has Slowly Declined Throughout 2019

BakaKnight

I mean, how it can't no decline?
The way DLC and Microtransactions are implemented in many games makes the game worse while trying to squeeze as much as possible from the gamer.

A system like that can work for a while and sadly will always find someone to trick (especially with younger audiences), but the more time pass, the more people, even outside gamers, start to be aware of that.

Give it some more years and there may be even a complete decline of the casual market as more and more so called "casual gamers" gets fed up and tired of gaming cause of these predatory systems.

Re: There Are "No Plans" To Bring The Full Pokédex To Pokémon Sword And Shield, And Future Games Will Follow Suit

BakaKnight

I'm personally fine with the cut as a concept.
While some people have their understandable reasons to be dissapointed, it wouldn't affect me to not have every single Pokemon compatible with Sword and Shield.

That said, I took a look at the leaked list of returning mon and it appear to be a little scarce, I hope I'm wrong, but it feels like they only put enough Pkmn to fill the region, with no particular surprises or more mon showing up with special conditions or items in the post game.

If that will turn out to be the case then it's not just a dex-cut affecting some players, but also a gameplay and experience cut for everyone, which is far from the "nothing has really changed" scenario they want to push so much.

Re: Soapbox: Attacking Pokémon Creator Game Freak Isn't Cool, But Biting Back Isn't The Answer

BakaKnight

Honestly I understand how Game Freak morale may be down and I don't blame or care for a "wrong like" on twitter, many posts online against them had been really offensive or stupid and on that GF have all my comprehension and support.

I just wish the internet could learn the difference between criticism and plain ignorant attacks on individuals or teams.
Pokemon Sword and Shield got a PR nightmare of bad choices that deserve a fair reasoned backslash and the same goes for many modern games.
Too bad instead these situations always devolve in disgusting threats and insults that have no other effect of mining the credibility of the people actually trying to give a fair criticism.

Re: Ninja Thinks Pro Players And Streamers Who Cheat Should Be Treated Differently

BakaKnight

It's silly cause if anything it should just be exact opposite.
Content creators and pro-players are the reference and example of their game's community and the ones that reach thousands (if not millions) of people, showing them how to play etc.

There is also no doubt that they set examples as their major audience is pretty young and easily prone to imitate.

All that said, it just sound logical to me that content creators and pro-players may face harsher punishment when caught breaking the rules.
And please, it's a game ban, the fact he mentioned the legal system is completly unrelated unless people start to get in jail for cheating.
