Childish it may be, but whatever your age there is something incredibly, unnaturally exciting about an advent calendar, even if you know there's nothing of value hidden inside. Well, now that December has begun Nintendo of Europe has got into the festive spirit and started its own Advent Calendar-inspired giveaway - and if you're lucky enough to win, the gift inside is a bit more exciting than a picture of a tree or one of those weird dusty chocolates.
Every day until Christmas prizes will be given away to Nintendo Account holders who head over to the appropriate web page and enter that day's draw. The competition began yesterday with a Special Edition Pokémon Nintendo Switch Lite up for grabs. Don't worry if you missed out on that, though - today they've got 20 download codes for Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes Of An Elusive Age to give away.
In order to enter, all you have to do it log in to the site with your Nintendo Account details, make sure that you've agreed to receive promotional emails from Nintendo, go to the page and hit 'Enter now!'. You'll then be in with a chance of bagging a prize for that day and you'll also get 10 Platinum Points for your troubles. As you can see from the teaser video above, there are some juicy prizes coming up in the remaining 22 days, including the Limited Edition version of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Ring Fit Adventure.
So, if you're in Europe you really don't have much to lose by entering - check out four pages of Terms & Conditions if you're a stickler for the nitty gritty details or just head to the Festive Gaming Calendar page.
If you can't get enough of hot advent calendar action, you can also follow as we open our huge Pokémon Trading Card Calendar. Here's Day 2:
Will you be trying your luck with Nintendo's Festive Gaming Calendar? Have you got your own calendar this year? Let us know what December treats you're waking up to every morning below...

ok this is nice
You should have kept this secret and just told me NL!!
I'll just watch the Ashens advent calendar like every year.
Would've been nice to know about this promotion yesterday, but oh well.
I'll be checking it daily.
@New_Guest No, it's for every European country, even South Africa according to the terms and services... but not Belgium and Italy, because they ain't Europe. They probably left to join Asia or something.
@Jojo2001 Italy joined the middle east and Belgium joined Africa. Both are relocating from Europe in 2020.
This is probably the only advent calendar I'll be going near
Hey this is pretty good. Good luck to anyone who is entering.
Doesn't work for me at all. Day 1 was fine, but Day 2 has been 404 Not Found all day.
Also their mynintendo discounts this month (and last month) are not showing all the games that their thumbnail suggests. For instance, I do not see a discount for Yo Kai Watch 3.
Well, if they give out digital stuff among other prizes, don't mind if I do. No one at Nintendo Russia would likely bother sending anything physical over to Belarus.
EDIT: never mind, they aren't bothering with this event at all.😆
"10 Platinum Points for your troubles"
Nintendo has a great sense of humor...
Wish North America was getting similar treatment.
Not for Italy, that's a crazy bummer...
I think this is the first time ever that Nintendo Italia isn't part of a promotion covering pretty much the whole europe (and can't say this is a first I was hoping for).
So, it's for a lot of european countries but not for Italy.
Guess where I live...
@riChchestM I had the same problem but signed out then signed back in with another browser and it worked. Hopefully works
@riChchestM yesterday wasn't working for me at all, the 'Enter Now' option was absent. But I was able to enter todays prize draw no problem
Not in Finland either, it seems.
Works perfectly fine for me, and I most definitely don't live in the UK...
Why not in Italy?
I'm signed in and at Step 3 it says click on "ENTER NOW" - I don't see any "ENTER NOW" button...
I've tried in FireFox and Chrome. Not seeing it. Am I missing something. I'm in the UKand it's before 23:59.
@zitpig Me too! I'm in the UK and I've tried 3 different browsers but still no 'Enter Now' button - come on Nintendo, stop withholding the chance of Christmas goodies from us Brits!
You do begin to wonder if Nintendo understands how the internet functions in any context at all.
Doesn't work in Czech Republic. Sounds like the competition is supported by Nintendo Online service...
Wish Nintendo of America did something like this for us Americans. I'd make a petition for Nintendo America to forcibly participate. I would've loved free stuff. Why do video games have to be so expensive nowadays, actually no, let me rephrase that, why does everything have to be so expensive nowadays?
Is anyone still having problems participating? I can't see this "ENTER"-button and I live in Denmark... aaaand Denmark is on the list.
It's the third day of the Advent Calendar promotion, and the number 3 link doesn't work.
It's supposed to be a page for entry for one of twenty Trine Ultimate Collection download codes, but it ain't working.
@Razer
Nice way of being rasist a * * hole
@Jojo2001
It's because they have more strict gambling laws.
@Timppis Okay, first of all, we weren't trying to be racist or anything, he could've easily said that they were going to go to Oceania and the North Pole or something and it wouldn't have made a difference.
Secondly, what does a raffle have to do with gambling laws? Don't forget people from Italy and Finland can't participate too, and I've heard nothing about gambling laws from them. I don't know if you know, but raffles like this aren't illegal in Belgium. If it's a boycot because of the gambling rules, that's another story, but that still doesn't explain Italy and Finland.
@Jojo2001
First of all People from Finland can participate.
Secondly Both Italy and Belgium are in the midst of exactly what this is, online raffle and gambling system regarding registration or participation via online community. Yes it's about their laws.
Thirdly. Yes. Oceania or North Pole would have been something different. If you honestly think that these two were selected straight out of geographical happenstance then you are what fascists call useful idiot.
@Timppis Ok, people from Finland can participate, my bad. I thought I heard someone talk about people from Finland not being able to participate tho. And I'm sorry that I don't know the exact laws of Belgium and Italy. If it had been in the news like the lootboxes, I would've known about it, but I guess I was just confused because we have raffles like this here in Belgium all the time, and we also give our information like address and phone number to them, so I don't see the problem here.
And just a heads-up: not every joke that's about the Middle-East or Africa or any other continent is racist. I can't know for sure of course, but those are mostly the two continents/regions, aside from America, that I come up with when you ask me about continents/regions, just because they are covered more in the news than Oceania or the North Pole. So please, don't assume everything is meant to be racist, because it just isn't.
@Jojo2001
You make assumptions based on not knowing how things are? I have had to study these things for several reasons yet you simply state that it isn't so because you have raffles?
And that wasn't a joke. It was racist bull. Or if it was a joke it was bad and racist one. Calling it out is not worse than calling other racism out. If you felt a sting in yourself maybe that's a good sign. If you didn't then I stand by previous statement.
@Timppis
Mate, it was simply a joke. And like others on here have already stated, I also do not believe that it was intended to be comprehended as the "racist bull" which you are vehemently claiming it to be. Quite frankly, your own aggressive and condescending comments are more offensive than a simple and light-hearted jest.
@Jojo2001 "So please, don't assume everything is meant to be racist, because it just isn't." Well said 👍
@Dakka-Dakka
Ah. Simply a joke. The oldest excuse in any given thing. How on earth could anything be racist when it's a joke?
If you find my aggression towards racist bull offensive then that's Quite Frankly your own damn problem.
Nice promotion. Sadly I didn't win anything. Maybe more luck next year?
