Goodness gracious, the sense of RELIEF I had reading this. I've stayed excited for this game throughout but there have been so many "oh dear" moments leading up to it that I was getting nervous. Fears dispelled, thanks NL!

The final boss music is a particular favourite of mine. There was absolutely no reason for Shimomura to go so hard, but who could stop her?

With this and the bike having a wacky robot name I'm reeeeaalllllyyyy nervous about the tone of the package. If Samus is the straight man in an oddball borderlands clown world it's going to be miserable. If she looks into the camera after something kerrrrazy happens I'm ripping the cart out and whipping it into the lake.

Just Shapes And Beats looks neat, but is there a way to turn off the screenshake? No way I could play the game if the included video is indicative of how wobbly it is.

Gooey was also able to use copy abilities in Dreamland 3, so my guess is there's going to be some deep lore explanation that Dark Matter has taken over somehow and in true Kirby style it's going to get real gnasty at the end.

Funny you mention NGC, I've actually been re-reading old issues this past week! I would get ONM and NGC both, but personally NGC holds a lot more nostalgia for me. Makes me wish Nintendolife had a monthly "magazine" where they take all the reviews and the most notable articles from the past month and put them together in newsletter form.

Do NOT watch it before playing the game- obviously there are spoilers, but it's also a vastly vastly compressed re-telling which makes it hard to follow even when you're familiar with it. It's much more of a spectacle anime- an "I remember that bit!" that covers all the major plot beats. Worth revisiting after playing if you really enjoy the game.

But with Animal Crossing on the horizon, I might need to temporarily skip over those ones... With only one switch in the household, there's no way I'm getting a look in for a few months lol.

I use a diceroller to pick a game from my list, give it one solid hour of play and then decide to Fin it or Bin it (with "fin" being defined as "I will play it at least once more", not necessarily a commitment to clearing it 100%). Got myself through over 120 games so far, many of which I wouldn't have gone for if I'd just been picking games for myself (rather than by the dice roll). I def recommend using dice, and surprising yourself!

Of course, my wife and I recently combined libraries, so my backlog accidentally just doubled... x_x

He compares the Japanese versions of games to their translated counterparts and explains why some of the differences may exist (and wonders in bafflement at some of the more bizarre changes). Good read!

I utterly adore this game, enough to have worn it as my avatar for 12 years now. I already own it twice, and the Switch release is going to make it three times.

All I've wanted for many years now is a portable SNES console with a vast library of games (no, those ones where you plug a cart into the top don't count). The n3DS threatened to do that with the NES Virtual Console, but that seems to have kinda... ended with a whimper. Drop packages of games onto Switch in this style though and you'll get my money for sure.

Played this recently on Steam- single player has a 30-minute Arcade mode against progressively tougher opponents, and is otherwise limited to bot matches (with a lot of different game modes). A single player will probably dip in and out of this for a 5-minute burn, but it's not going to keep you hooked for a long time. Hopefully mulitplayer on switch will be more populated than it is on Steam. It's a lot of fun though, I recommend it if you don't mind bot matches.

Miitomo is very reliant on groups of people using it. My friends stopped using it, so there's no reason for me to use it because there's no new content, which means I'm not generating new content for my friends either... and it kinda spirals downwards.

The Fire Emblem Movie would be three hours long and, right at the end, the main character would be killed by a random arrow striking him critically, and you'd have to watch the whole thing over again from the start.

So, if you can still catch missingno, and these games interact with Bank...

I voted Awakening, LTTP, and Ocarina, but I really want to give honourable mention to Minish Cap which is a superb game and I tried very hard to convince myself to drop one of the others to include it.
