Fan service has really been downhill ever since Kimishima took the helm. The new Nintendo has been great for stockholders, but worse for consumers.
Just think, we were once rewarded for our loyalty with physical, tangible items (sometimes even games). Now the only reward given is the opportunity to spend more money. How incredibly cynical.
Anybody remember back when buying video games at Toys R' Us required grabbing a paper ticket off the shelf and taking that ticket to a back area where they went to grab the game from storage?
I can specifically remember doing that to purchase Pokemon Red.
Doesn't sound like they changed anything. The existing requirement was that creators had to be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program. This is Nintendo reminding people that the requirements changed by YouTube will also affect the people in their program.
"It runs without a hitch at 60fps"
"never once stutters or suffers from slowdown"
The Digital Foundry video demonstrates otherwise. Definite improvement over the Wii U, but it still has dips in performance. I'm surprised Nintendo Life didn't pick up on this.
@JimmySpades I will wait to see if there's more to it, but right now Nintendo Switch Online appears to be solely "now you have to pay for online play and you can play one old game for a month", then I will certainly not be paying for that.
I believe I read elsewhere that this is just a filing to trademark the English name of "Animal Crossing" in Japan, so it's not specifically about a new entry in the series.
It's not like we don't know a new Animal Crossing is coming to Switch at some point, anyway.
"Oh, and did we mention 3DS racked up its best sales figures since 2014"
And this is why people need to stop whining about the 3DS. Not every person or family is willing or able to spend $300+ for a Switch and games. The 3DS presents a great budget gaming option and is doing really well, and Nintendo will probably continue to support it as long as that remains the case.
So please stop spamming every 3DS game article with "Switch version or no buy" comments.
@Wyld3Ang3l 3DS has a browser, Netflix, Hulu and YouTube.....and I don't think anyone would say that they take away from 3DS's core experience. Just don't install apps you don't want to use.
I'd like to see the ability to make game icons smaller to fit more on one screen, like 3DS has. I'm sure you won't be able to make them as small as 3DS does, since you are not using a stylus for selecting, but still would be nice to cram more titles on screen.
Ouch, looks like a customer service rep will be getting a bollocking from management. Still though, you have to learn to be more diplomatic in your responses and don't just agree with the customer when they criticize your product.
I expect we will see more of this next year from Japanese developers, who will suddenly come out of the woodwork to support the Switch after many of them wrote it off this year, only for it to become the most popular console in their home territory.
@Maxz You jest, but if there's any game in this series that really could use a chest slider, it's this one - so I can tone down Pyra's ridiculous melons.
Trying to take part in the event right now, but I'm just sitting in the party lobby and it's not connecting to anyone else. Is nobody else playing?.....
At this point, Mario Party needs to be given the Metroid treatment and just be locked away in a vault for years, never to be mentioned again until somebody comes up with a good way to revitalize this series.
Somehow, Nd Cube manages to make each entry worse than the last. It's embarrassing.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to the "Best Handheld Game" category in the future, when the 3DS is gone. They'll either have to remove it, or it becomes the "Best Switch Game" category.
I know right now it's basically the "Best 3DS Game" category, but they're getting away with it on the pretense that the 3DS had a competitor at one time.
Skipping out on an excellent game that you would have played but now won't because you own a Switch and refuse to play 3DS games out of some misguided principle is incredibly silly, to put it lightly.
For me, nothing will ever beat Majestic Chess for the PC in terms of pure fun. It took chess and turned it into a fantasy adventure that would teach you everything from the basics to advanced strategy. You could also just play straight chess either online or against the AI. And the set pieces and play environments were really good looking for its time. Awesome game.

The way things are going, we're more likely to get a port of Call of Duty 3 instead.

A lack of an HDMI port is a deal killer for me. It's a shame; otherwise this would have been perfect.

Hopefully the icon will be reverted back so I can finally take this app out of the app drawer purgatory.

Preparing for 30 minutes of Mario Tennis footage. Got to set the bar low so I can't be disappointed.

Hours wasted -_-
Re: Rejoice, Soon You'll Be Able To Use Your My Nintendo Gold Points On The Switch eShop
"for select digital games"
So probably only on some shovelware indie titles, would be my guess.
I've said this before, but Nintendo has gotten seriously greedy under Kimishima.
Re: Nintendo Wants To Make Greater Use Of Downloadable Content In The Future
I miss Iwata. Nintendo has gotten rather greedy under Kimishima.
Re: Kimishima Talks Nintendo’s 3DS Strategy Going Forward
@noobish_hat "So no new games for it then."
It says right there: "We are, of course, continuing to develop new software..."
Sounds like there will be new games, but probably not many left, as they rely on the existing library to drive sales.

$20 to do something you used to let me do for free, but now you'll also loan me one old game a month that you've re-released countless times?
Oh boy, where do I sign up?
Re: Mario Is Heading To The Silver Screen, With Help From The Studio Behind Minions
Minions was awful, so hopefully Illumination steps up their game for this one.
Re: Soapbox: Miitomo's Days Are Numbered, But Its Death Was Written In The Stars From The Start
The way I look at it, Miitopia is pretty much a farewill to Miis (that apparently never ends....)
I wish Nintendo would keep them around.
Re: Rainway Beta Is Live, But There's Nothing But Disappointment For Switch Owners
If this actually came to Switch, there are a number of indie games that I own on Steam that I could play without having to buy the Switch versions.
And that's exactly why this will never come to Switch.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)
Is someone really complaining about Operation Rainfall being mentioned in one tiny paragraph?
Without Operation Rainfall, this series may have never made it's way to the West (certainly not the US) and is therefore relevant.
And again, it's a very small mention in an otherwise large review. Why the complaining?

Re: Nintendo Scoops Plenty of Nominations for The Game Awards
I worry that having both Zelda and Mario as GOTY nominees will split the Nintendo fans' vote, allowing that dumpster fire PUBG to win.
Also, why not have Switch games in the "Best Handheld Games" category, too?
