Re: Talking Point: Does The Nintendo Switch Game Voucher Programme Offer Value For Money?

AlphaElite

If you're a digital-only gamer, the vouchers are a great deal. I bought four of them and will be using them on Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 3. That equates to $40 in savings.

It's a shame that Nintendo of America is looking to kill this program in July, but that's just like Nintendo of America to kill anything that is remotely consumer friendly. Club Nintendo anyone?

@gaga64 @HammerKirby Exactly, this is the same reason for me. In past generations, I also owned the 360, the PS2, the PSP and the OG Xbox.

But now that I am older and have less time for games, I have to be more selective. That's why I only own a Switch and I also play PC games sometimes.

Re: Random: Sonic The Hedgehog Creator Yuji Naka Thinks Nintendo Has Changed

This is just my opinion, but I think what has changed about Nintendo is that they have realized major third party publishers are never going to fully support their platform no matter what they do or how successful the platform is.

So I think they've decided to turn to indies to help them build a platform library instead. It's a good proposition for indies: come to the platform where you have a better chance at exposure because the spotlight won't be hogged by big budget AAA releases. And if your game is really good, Nintendo will promote it.

@jly1987 At what point do you stop buying old overpriced ports when you realize that the publisher has no intention of releasing anything else other than more overpriced old ports?

Capcom realized two years ago they could sell old games for full price - sometimes more - on Switch and they'll keep selling as long as they dangle the false hope of new AAA games.

I think @tourjeff is right. Capcom - and other publishers like them - can shove off if that's how they're going to treat Nintendo fans. They don't treat Playstation and Xbox fans this way - why should we take it?

And also, "hurting Nintendo" is not my concern as a consumer. They are a multi-billion dollar corporation. They will be fine.
