Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?

Alexface

Yeah for me not a great one. Not much that excited me personally.
I thought the Kirby game looked great though - a nice evolution, maybe it does for Kirby what BotW and Odyssey did for Zelda and Mario?

The NSO expansion got me really annoyed. I am in two minds because the existing sub prices are actually very good, but they are just not giving enough value Vs other services. They need to more regularly add games for what we pay now before adding new tiers in my opinion

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - August 2021

Alexface

I know technically it came out in July, But Fuga: Melodies of steel is really being missed by people.
It's a great game with some real tension and deserves some more attention from people!
To paraphrase a steam review... It's the only game I'm aware of that lets you sacrifice a 4 year old child to power a super weapon

Re: Talking Point: amiibo Have Always Been Physical DLC, Skyward Sword HD Is No Different

Alexface

I am fine with content as dlc. Makes sense. Pay more, get more.
Functionality shouldn't be behind a £25 paywall though. That's extortion.
The only thing I can think of is Bamco in tales games offer 2* gold/exp or capcom in RE games offering unlocks early. But that's pay to get ahead and 1-2£. It's veryyyy different pricing.

I have no issue with dlc (or amiibo) if it offers good value for what I get in return. This one seems unbelievably expensive for nothing.

Re: Tales Of Symphonia Is The Best-Selling Entry In The Series' 25-Year History

Alexface

Arguably Symphonia has had the most exposure. It's come out on quite a few consoles and I think it's on pc? Unlike a lot of others. Vesperia is also widely available - plus it's on the latest generation which has sold she'd loads of units.

I still want some ports of older games so I can play them (even though some.of the older games are apparently a bit pants)

Re: Hitman 3 Recovers Its Development Costs Within A Week

Alexface

@TheFullAndy question for you? What didn't work when you were playing it? (Also what internet speed do you get)

I'm really interested in if the cloud versions are successful or not. Stadia works great but I have too many other platforms to think about. But I do think cloud gaming will become way more important.
Unfortunately although I'm interested in the concept I'm just not interested in the games so far!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 9th)

Alexface

@iaLgan I am a fan of JRPGs and also Dragon Quest so take my thoughts as you will.
So far I love it. It's definitely Dragon Quest, has obviously been made with such care. I am currently thinking it's on a par with 8 (which is my favourite), but time will tell still...
If you like JRPGs I would recommend. Right now it's an 8 or 9 out of 10, but I am also quite harsh 😂

Re: There Are Currently No Plans To Bring More Kingdom Hearts Games To Switch

Alexface

@Menardi very unlikely to be Disney. I doubt they have much input in the series other than approvals and a cut of the money.

I think most likely a resource thing on squenix's part. They looked into it and decided it would take too much time/money Vs the expected return. Disappointing as I was hoping for a port of at least the first few (not played any yet!)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 5th)

Alexface

I'm in the final stages of my quest to finish all the Zelda games (excluding spin offs). Finally started BotW and it's amazing. 3 divine beasts down, one to go. Done about 70 shrines now and just unlocked the last tower! So good!

Also started MGS V on PS4. It'll be my backup. I never played any MG games when they came out so again, been educating myself on the series by going back to the beginning (metal gear on max) and playing through. Great gaming history here

Re: Sega Says It Wants To Re-Release More Past Titles On Nintendo Switch

Alexface

I don't get why Sega haven't done a Capcom. Take their most popular games and port them a code that makes them super easy to port (like resi evil). As already mentioned they have so many great games waiting in the wings, but I think a lot of the Saturn games will never get ported as they will be too costly and not enough demand (unfortunately).

I'd also love to know the actual reason we never see a sonic 3 port anymore - I got it on Xbox 360, but we've not seen it since...

Re: Soapbox: 25 Years On, I Still Can't Get Into Yoshi's Island

Alexface

SAME!
I definitely enjoyed when I played the first time but subsequent efforts to replay have led me to give up. I also struggle with any of the newer games, meaning I've not attempted wooly world yet even though I love the art.

I do wonder whether the reception of later Yoshi's Island games is actually because the original isn't that great but nostalgia keeps it on a pedestal?

Re: Feature: The Complete History Of Paper Mario

Alexface

I desperately want a hd port of thousand year door, and also super. Those games were great and also different from each other.

Star sticker was a 6/10 and colour splash 7/10 (good but not great). I have a feeling this will be another 7/10...

I wonder if we'll see an evolution again to be more RPG now alpha dream don't exist anymore. Or will they pass the mario&Luigi Baton to a new devoloper?

Re: Nintendo President Says More Switch Games Are Scheduled For Current Period

Alexface

@Friendly true, but other than Paper Mario and mario golf most of those are a bit dead right now (although I would love to see them revived).
I'm sure I remember reading that Pikmin 4 was being worked on years ago so that will probably happen.
Star fox I feel like Nintendo Don't know what to do with it. It always feels a bit like a reluctant/half assed release
