Re: Guide: 8 Steps To Making Your Gaming Backlog A Thing Of The Past

Alexface

I created a spreadsheet to keep track. Got about 1000 games on there across everything.
With playstation plus, games with gold, twitch prime and everything else I was accumulating too many games and I couldn't remember what I owned. Then the spreadsheet became too much so I added metacritic scores and how long to beat times to work out what to play when...

But my biggest thing is trying to only have two games on the go at any one time - one handheld and one console. I find that makes it much easier to focus

Re: Mario & Luigi RPG Dev AlphaDream Files For Bankruptcy

Alexface

This is sad news. I must admit I assumed they were owned by Nintendo.

I do think they were maybe too reliant on the m&l series - maybe if they branched out a little they might have had more success? Eggs in one basket and all. I know it's a risk but I was a long time fan of the series and I just got fatigue. They were great but there was only so many I could play.

Hopefully Nintendo will bail out or at least employ some of the talent.

Re: House Of The Dead 1 And 2 Are Coming To Switch

Alexface

Love these games! As a few others have said - overdue a comeback!

I did love overkill but it was very different.

It does feel weird how they announce these games though. Almost feels like they'll get hit with a takedown notice! Too good to be true!

Re: Capcom Takes A Bite Out Of Its Resident Evil eShop Prices In Europe

Alexface

@dakka-dakka then it's just bad business! It's supply and demand right. Everything has a price, companies just need to work out what is profitable. There's no way the switch version costs more to make than other consoles so it's either price or demand. A sensible company would reduce the price of a product that doesn't sell

Re: Mario & Luigi Developer AlphaDream Seeking Production Assistant

Alexface

I could go for partners in time dx. That was my favourite.
Also love the idea of pulling in Wario and Waluigi.
That said my view is there's just been too many of these games too quickly. 3 games in 4 years is overkill in my opinion. Give it a break. Give us a full scale paper Mario RPG style sequel and then come back to this in 3-4 years

Re: Activision Blizzard Lays Off Hundreds Despite "Record Year", A Far Cry From Nintendo's Caring Approach

Alexface

I've always wondered why businesses do this.

I have worked for a big global corp before and just because they made record profits doesn't mean that every division is profitable. It's still very hard to hear - why not focus on ironing out the issues?

Activision are obviously very bad at shutting studios down. A family member of mine worked at a studio that Activision closed and apparently it was a mess at the end. They knew it was coming because no one was really working on anything, except helping out on COD

Nintendo's focus on employees is great but I'm sure there are issues there too. Japanese working culture isn't known for being amazing, and Nintendo do have a habit of making very odd business decisions

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A Switch Mini?

Alexface

The only thing that would get me buying a new switch is better tech (and less bezels). I can't imagine Nintendo releasing a switch pro so count me out. Switch mini would likely have less tech so not for me!

I upgraded my ds for the dsi and 3ds to the new 3ds for those reasons but didn't go for cheaper options

Re: Feature: Things We Wish Nintendo Would Do In 2019

Alexface

My big 3:

Expansion of online to include other consoles. Just go big. Doesn't have to be just SNES

Mario Kart dlc - there's so much merit to bringing old levels into the modern games. Let's make them all accessible. Or create some kind of Mario kart hub so we can play it all on switch.

Persona 5

Re: Soapbox: 8 Nintendo 3DS Games We'd Love To See On Switch

Alexface

I think 3DS games are largely still accessible. I want Nintendo to make their older back catalogue available, so Ds over 3ds. Wii U I think is different, its just not got the userbase and the games are good and deserve a second chance.

That said, as I mentioned on the Wii U article. I really want to have one console where I can play all the Mario/metroid/final fantasy/etc series. Port them all!

Re: Feature: The Final Wii U Games We'd Like To See On Switch In 2019

Alexface

I agree Nintendo should hire a small studio to port some of these games while they focus on new stuff.

Definitely want Tokyo mirage sessions, but would also love to see the Zelda back catalogue make its way there (still need to play skyward sword!) And maybe the paper Mario series ported.

I think there's a huge opportunity for Nintendo (actually, squeenix, konami, sega and capcom also) for re-releasing old games still, they just need a schedule to follow
