Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Alexface

I am finding this too difficult.
Hollow knight was difficult - but there was way more exploration, leading to ways to get stronger. The bosses were never the but I enjoyed, but the exploration.
Here I'm finding my path blocked constantly by rock hard bosses and there's no way to get more powerful/stronger without fighting a different one... It does fit with the character being more of a fighter though!

Re: Review: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation

Alexface

For me I like it so far, but the balance of the power ups is off.
In one race you can get 4 blue shells, and even in 100cc that can take you back 10 spots suddenly and you don't get power ups that help you recover.
There seems to be a lot of new power ups I just haven't seen yet as well.

It reminds me of the Wii mario kart - there were far too many power ups that hit the leader and it make it too frustrating.

Right now MK8 is still the best and most balanced.

Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?

Alexface

What I would really like - is gradual accessibility to all the old games - so virtual console style, give me the GB originals, the GBA originals and remakes, DS games etc.
But with the ability to transfer between like they did on the GB virtual console 3ds releases.

Give us the ability to play the entire catalogue on one console

Re: Talking Point: Which 'Tales' Game Will Come To Switch Next?

Alexface

For me it's accessibility of the older games.
I would love Phantasia, Destine and Eternia especially. Then move onto the PS2 games.

Xillia I also think should be posted, but wouldn't excite me that much because I played them relatively recently - that said Xillia 1 is one of my favourites in the series

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 29th)

Alexface

I am cracking on with Chrono Cross on switch.
I also just finished Death Stranding on PS5 - I make a rotation between playstation, Xbox and polymega to make sure all my consoles get used - now playing Story of Thor 2 on Polymega - great game, really underrated compared to the MD original

Re: Review: Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster - A Beautiful And Faithful Reimagining Of The Classics

Alexface

Although I love they are making these more available again, I do with they would release a "definitive" collection/bundle with all the versions.

So release a collection of 3 with the original NES, pixel remaster version and the D's version.
And 6 as the original, then updated with the new updates in this and the GBA version.

That would be wonderful and much better for preservation

Re: Talking Point: Why Are So Many Remasters Sub-Par At Launch?

Alexface

I think any legitimate access is better than nothing .
But publishers need to be realistic on what is possible and plan the budget/price accordingly.
Like if the source code is lost. Emulate it. Price it accordingly.

I also think it sucks when multiple versions have been made and content gets lost. Like the pixel remasters example mentioned missing gba content...

Re: Talking Point: Should Sonic Frontiers Be Delayed? We Discuss Its Bizarre Debut And Fan Reaction

Alexface

I think the game has potential. I think what's shows has the potential to be fun, but it's hard to pull it together and it doesn't look like it feels satisfying...
To me it looks more like Mario Odyssey in gameplay, but BOTW in feel. I don't mind sega trying something new, sonic 3d games haven't worked for me since adventure 1/2. They just need to make the gameplay feel satisfying!

Re: Review: Bugsnax - A Charming Idea That Struggles In Execution

Alexface

I loved this game on ps5. It's by no means perfect but an enjoyable romp with such loveable characters. I do agree with a previous commenter that the concept didn't appeal, the only reason I played it was that it was on PS+ and one of the only PS5 games I had!
It's such a shame about the performance issues as feel like this could have had a nice home on switch

Re: Talking Point: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Start At 'The Beginning' Of Series Like Zelda Or Dragon Quest?

Alexface

So I've done this with a few game series over the last few years. I realised I had big gaps in my knowledge and decided to go back and see how the series evolved and impacted gaming history.

I did the Zelda series (although I gave up on 2!), Tales of (more because I love them and also only the accessible games, which cuts out some of the worst), Metal Gear and God of War (actually played the most recent which made me go back and play the originals).
It's super interesting to do, but you need to have patience and know when to put a game down and move on

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 - The Best Launch Game Ever Made

Alexface

@Thrallherd I think that's the challenge.

Do you review relative to now? Or relative to when it came out and it's significance?

I think the point of reviews are to help people decide whether to purchase the product so it should be relative to now. You can do features and retrospectives to show how impactful it was back at release.

As others have said I was surprised how much this had aged when I played it recently. I actually gave up. I 100%'d the ds version but the controls of the original just don't hold up anymore
