At some point Nintendo will have trouble keeping all software up as hosting cost is flipping expensive....

cause updatedata can be pulled from a nearby Switch locally without need for a server.

With GCK thats impossible.
You (most likely) cannot local usermatch data. Also they require a server auth on 1st run
(Regular Switch carts use the internal FW library and the LOTUS3 chip on switch.
Thats why you can start games on outdated offline Switches too)
And having only 85% of a game oncart sure beats 0%

They are giving publishers a cheap " F#€% customers" option for gamereleases
