It's-a supa!

Nintendo is used to success - it is responsible for some of the most popular video game franchises of all time, and has produced consoles and handhelds which have sold millions upon millions of units. However, like any firm with a history that stretches back more than 100 years, it isn't immune from failure, and its most recent home system has been one of its most high-profile duds.

However, Nintendo clearly has a sense of humour about such things. Just as it playfully referenced the Virtual Boy in Tomodachi Life and WarioWare, it has slipped a cute comment about the Wii U into the recent Animal Crossing: New Leaf update.

It's certainly true that the Wii U hasn't had the appreciation that it deserves, especially with titles like Super Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. in its library. In the future we'll no doubt see these games re-released and remastered, and hopefully they'll reach an even wider audience. For now, they remain exclusive to the 13 million people who were brave enough to take the plunge with Nintendo's dual-screen home console.
