Been tempted to get a Switch for a while as I love handhelds but when the consoles Top 2 games are Wii U remasters it really makes me question if I should take the plunge its only Fire Emblem and one or two other games that take my interest. Change my mind peeps.

Bought one much later off a friend in the early 2000s has a fantastic lineup for a console that was only out for 4 years here in the UK. Also the last home console to use cartridges which helped kill it. causing a shock allowing a none gaming company to dominate the industry which wasn't thought possible at that point.

Nintendo Switch is a great handheld it's like a home console experience on the go reminds of the Nomad but with its own game library and also what the Vita could have been. If Nintendo could launch a 14 teraflop home console alongside it and bring back the 3rd party support they could be successful in both arenas. However it looks like they've bowed out of the home console market for good.

Don't buy repros only official releases so not for me.

To be fair most households by multiple of the same handheld for multiplayer purposes so the Switch is no different.

One of the best handhelds Nintendo has ever made it's bound to overtake the Wii but more importantly it's older handheld siblings the Game Boy and DS.

Great design for the kids who want a Switch.

Doesn’t deserve more than a 6/10 in my opinion for one simple reason price. Literally 3 decades old games ported with next to nothing done with them yet not sold at a budget price is ridiculous. Even Crash and Spyro Trilogy where full remakes yet still sold at budget price. Don’t get me wrong these are classics but should be budget price simple as.

@BrokenDpadGamer because the game is 4 years old and last gen so should be budget price simple as this would have been given a 5/10 20 years ago for being a re release of a game at full price not sure why it seem a to be more accepting now are Nintendo becoming like Apple and people will give it a high score as long as Nintendo put their name on it.

Wait thought Nintendo didn't allow games like this that's one of the reasons they've never went all in on a dedicated Home console since the GameCube. Well if they are allowing games like these they may as well release a dedicated home console with specs on par with other consoles. Can you imagine a dedicated Home Console from Nintendo it would have all their amazing 1st party games plus all the 3rd party games too, released in the 2020s it would push Sony out of the Market and put them back on top again.

Can't really compare the launch of a handheld with some home console features to a full on next generation console reveal however I'm a bit underwhelmed with the PS5 especially not even twice as much GPU power as the last generation Xbox One X I was expecting 14 Teraflops but oh well.

@NintoRich wasn't confusing at all he said gamers would rather just play depressing games in their rooms (referring to Japanese gamers)so as the N64 bombed in Japan it was obvious he was having a dig at the PlayStation and not his own console the N64 which no one bought not sure why people thought other wise possibly the top commenter that made the mistake maybe caused the confusion.

The Nintendo 64 obviously failed due to using cartridges had they used CD's they would have kept most exclusive 3rd party support and pushed Sony out of the market. However Nintendo have never really recovered from this blunder they tried to repair the damage with the GameCube but that failed and they basically gave up going a different route with the Wii and Wii U before finally bowing out of the home console market entirely and releasing the successful handheld the Switch that can connect to the TV for a bigger viewing experience like the Nomad. It's a shame this blunder happened as can you imagine a full specced Nintendo home console was out today with all the awesome 3rd party games like Read Dead II and Resident Evil 7 etc along with their incredible 1st party lineup you wouldn't even need to buy a second console Nintendo would monopolize the industry. Now sadly the industry is ruled by a entertainment company (Sony) and a software company (Microsoft) yet gaming companies like Atari and Sega got pushed out and Nintendo gave up due to poor management.

It's great that last gen consoles like Xbox One and PS4 are still doing well sales wise. Will be interesting to see if Sony can catch up to Switch as 40 million strong and it's next gen rivals haven't even launched yet.

Why not just release it digital only if it's not all on the card or better yet use a 32GB card. This is worse than the PS4 as the Switch is a handheld so what if I was on holiday and decided to grab this game for the plane journey home like I do with all my other handhelds I wouldn't be able to play it ridiculous.

Played it and it’s a pretty good game. Still can’t get over Nintendo releasing games on rival platforms though there’s now hope for them releasing games on PlayStation and Xbox/PC.

I think whats even more shocking is a six year old game GTA V is still in the top 10.

Incredible to see a game originally released 2 generations ago GTA V still in the Top 10 yes it was remastered on last generation home consoles the PS4 and Xbox One but still it must be the biggest selling remaster of all time.

Sony has a lot of work on their hands by the time the Switches true rival launches the PS5 the Switch will have passed 50 million so whether it can catch the Switch in the next 5 years will be interesting 9th gen started in early 2017 with the launch of Switch yet responses from Microsoft and Sony won’t be for 2 and a half years from the switches launch. Similar time gap from Dreamcast to GameCube/Xbox but that console was dead by the time it’s competitors arrived lol.

Fair comment the Switch is mainly a handheld with the Wii U being Nintendo’s last home console so him making this comment is fine as they are no longer rivals unless of course those. XBox handheld rumours are true. So will stick to my N64 as I don’t own an Xbox a PC port of Rare Replay would be most welcome though.

They where even cheaper if you took advantage of Ebay's 20% off code in the U.K Brand New Switches where down to £220.

Wait Nintendo is 3rd party now mobile is a rival to Switch.

Gonna hold off on getting a Switch for this new version yes they could have released a Pro but they don't need to Nintendo already future proofed themselves by making the current Switch very powerful out of the gate even more powerful than the Wii U which surprised me as their portables are usually a generation behind but to be almost as powerful as the Xbox One and not the 360 as expected impressed me so they should get a good 10 years out of this machine easily. They just need to get more AAA 3rd parties on board with making unique games for the system rather than downgraded home console ports like the good old game boy days and DS days.

Can't wait for this to be released Sega has done well so far with a stellar lineup of games and with M2 on board emulation should be spot on unlike the awfully rushed PlayStation classic.

Not yet he hasn't as Sonic Mania was more of a side game not a main entry in the series the main entry around that time got slated so he has far from turned a corner yet however Team sonic Racing could go a way into repairing Sonic's damaged reputation along with a quality 3D main entry in the series. I personally think Sega should bring Alex Kidd out of retirement as he would be better suited for a 3D game as they don't have to worry about him having to run at high speed and all the camera problems that comes with it.

Why on earth didn’t they release this on the Switch instead it would have sold very well but not on a dying system that no one bothers with. Not to mention it’s at full price but of course Nintendo would have gotten away with it on the Switch and people would have lapped it up. You only have to look at the re-releases of Super Mario Bros Deluxe, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country and many more for proof of that.

So let me get this straight you put a console that damaged Nintendo’s reputation beyond repair meaning they can no longer compete in the main console arena at number 4 it has to lose points for that alone. Switch shouldn’t count till it’s discontinued as we don’t know what else it has to offer. Nes should have been in the Top 3 well above the Wii which is Nintendo’s worst home console as it was more of a niche product aimed at the casual markets which smartphones/tablets eventually took from it forcing it to be discontinued long before other 7th gen systems.

Can't see it working on Switch due to it being a handheld console though with Nintendo adding the feature to hook it up to your TV it would be ok with the Pro controller but for me handhelds are meant for portability so connecting the console to the TV defeats the point of a handheld as I would just rather play a more power home console or PC in that case. Come on Nintendo you have the finances to make an awesome home console all your amazing 1st party games along with getting major 3rd party developers back on board like the NES and SNES days. It would be awesome seeing Nintendo get back to their glory days but they have never recovered from the damage the N64 caused.

Bit expensive for a handheld game though most Switch games are. I hope they have made some changes to accommodate the fact that it's on a handheld console like Age of Empires on DS that port was awesome.

Just let me get this straight you release a game for a handheld console yet you can't play it unless you connect it to the TV. What will Nintendo do next start charging for online gaming on a handheld "oh wait a sec"

It’s amazing that GTA V a 4 year old game is still staying in the Top 10 incredible.

The 3DS successor has been out a year so surprised there not just just doing a full remake on the Switch instead.

These practices are very worrying from a collectors point of view as years down the line if you want to collect Switch games this one won’t be playable just a useless piece of plastic.

a few KBs would be enough for any sports games save file. They should have set the save file to 512KB that would have been more than enough its only saving stats and league positions etc.

wow I remember when Tetris was on a 32KB cartridge how times change but surely a 32GB flash cart and the in built storage should be enough for a Handhelg game even PS4 and Xbox One don't use more than 50-60GB and they are home consoles. Nintendo should have just not changed their usual strategy and made a slightly less powerful handheld if they wanted bigger games they should have stayed in the Home console market it's not like they don't have the resources to compete.

Quite surprised it's not coming to Nintendo Switch hopefully will at a later date as Square Enix usually brings their Snes RPG 3D remakes to Nintendo handhelds Final Fantasy 3&4 as examples on original DS so thought 💭 this would be a perfect fit on Switch oh well 😔

Darn only just read the article really wanted this too. I don't understand why Nintendo don't just leave pre-orders open then produce the amount that's been ordered. At least I managed to snag 2 Snes Minis I suppose.

Nintendo won't release a dedicated home console so what this guy needs to quuit complaining yes it would be a poor console if it was made by Sony, Microsoft, Sega or Atari but this has Nintendo's name on it it's irrelevant that it could be the worst handheld they have ever produced as it lacks 3rd party games but so what it's made by Nintendo and it's pretty powerful for a Handheld. I agree it's a shame they have pulled out the hardware business Sony tried to give us a Home console experience on the go with the Vita that failed even though iit had more games but this is Nintendo and Nintendo rules.

Thankfully managed to get 2 pre-ordered one with Game (gulp) and one through Nintendo. Could have had a third through Very but didn't have the money in the bank plus didn't want to be greedy.

@G0dlike They should be a second wave and hopefully you get one. I never ordered a Nes mini and regretted it once they shot up in price and am not willing to pay those scalper prices on EBay.

There now selling like hot cakes 🎂 on the U.K eBay store for over double the price it's the people that are willing to pay it that are part of the problem unfortunately.

I was at the sorting office to pick up a game checked my emails and it was live website wouldn't load on pc or phone 📱 so went to my gmail clicked the link to take me straight to it and managed to snag one. I now have one game pre-order and one Nintendo store one wee hey 😁

Really wish they had released Chrono Trigger as from someone from the U.K it was never released and is hard to obtain so would have been a great addition as would 25 games then they could have had 20 N64 games next year rather than the 15 where going to probably get.
