Re: Review: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - A Fine Castlevania Tribute That's A Technical Trainwreck On Switch

I was okay with the graphical downgrade until I saw the samurai character get introduced. He looked like part of his outfit was rendered on the n64. Then all of crashing and slow down kinda did it for me, so I returned the game as broken. I can take a game crashing once in a while, but when you need to find a safe room all the time before the game crashes again, I consider that game broken. Good review but I honestly think you might have been too kind.

I was watching this last night. It was a halfway decent watch. It's so strange how they got quite a spectrum of performance regardless of hardware.

However the switch version is in really rough shape. The only time I kind of enjoyed my time with it was in handheld mode. Honestly I traded it in for the xbox version. I'm not the biggest graphic snob but the switch was looking pretty rough add to that the latency issues and it crashing all the time. I always try to support my platform of choice, switch, but I felt pretty let down by the lack of care in this port.

After playing through some of it on the xbox I can say that some of the areas I thought looked like crap on the switch aren't too much better on the xbox, lol.

@graysoncharles From all the nonsense and stupidity he's spewed in his comments it's really your own fault for even attempting to rationalize with him. He thinks this game is a full on downgrade. Even the most ignorant of people could tell the difference between this upcoming gen and all prior gens. For some reason he is upset about it all. You will never, ever, ever, ever be able to have him see things your way. Next time save yourself the effort and let him, or whoever else, throw his tantrum on the floor like a child. Just look away and step over them😀

Re: Bloodstained Team Releasing Multiple "Small Updates" To Fix Performance Of The Switch Version

@Keldorek I hadn't paid attention to the other versions to avoid spoilers but the background compared to other versions are not so great, to be kind. The character models also aren't that great in comparison. I'm not expecting parity but if the game stutters as much as it's been said to I really dont understand the graphical downgrade. I've been enjoying my time with it, but if I would have read up on all the performance issues I would have kept my copy closed and would have returned it. It was hard to come by reviews of the game all of last week but there was zero word on the switch edition until yesterday morning. By the time I read it I had already opened up the game. If it crashes on me a few times I'll have to trade it in. At least that way someone will buy it used and it will take away a sale from 505 studios and iga.

I know the game isn't unplayable but I dont understand how this title can be more demanding than something like breath of the wild or even mortal kombat. Just doesn't make too much sense and reeks of laziness from the porting studio.

With how crappy the joy cons are I really wouldn't want this. I'm on my third pair of joycons in the 18 or 19 months I've owned the system. That means I'd be on my third repair of one of these guys. The kicker is that I hardly play anything so I really dont know how these things keep messing up. It's just the thubsticks but it's still annoying to have to keep getting new ones. They aren't cheap either.

Re: Future Versions Of FIFA On Switch Could Be Legacy Editions, Just Like FIFA 20

whanvee

@norwichred There is hardware restrictions for sure, but if companies can port scaled down versions of say Doom or wolfenstein, then EA has no excuse. FIFA is just not as demanding as those games I mentioned. It would be as if the people porting doom would have ported it but said they could only get the first level of the game and you would only get one weapon and one enemy type. Then they release Doom:Eternal and release the previous version of doom they had released, only this time the skin on the gun and the one enemy reflects the newest version of said game.

I'm all for blaming Nintendo and its cheapness when it comes to releasing powerful hardware. Just dont defend EA's crappy actions. In essence they are trying to make money by just changing text and stats to players on this version. They are doing as little as possible and they will make money off of each game sold because I'm sure it cost them very little to do what they are doing for this "legacy edition".

It's not just on Nintendo platforms either. The "legacy edition" found on last gen consoles is the same thing. EA wasting as little money in development in order to maximize its profit from sales.

In the end they are a company and need to make money but being downright disrespectful and insulting your consumers intelligence by trying to sell them the same game two or three years in a row is just plain wrong.

I see your Wii u point too, but it's an understatement to say that most of those Wii U games never really reached too many people. That system sold like crap and most people besides hardcore Nintendo fans had a hard time even understanding what the hell the Wii u was. So, yeah it is crappy on Nintendos part to keep porting old Wii U games to the switch but I'm gonna say most of the games being ported are of higher quality and with added features from previous versions. They are not just rereleasing the same game and expecting everyone to buy it. I've yet to buy any port of any game that I already own on the Wii U but I am very happy that others get to experience these games as most were pretty awesome and deserve to be played by as many as possible.

Sorry for the giant reply

Refuse to buy because we have to download twice as much as what came on the cartridge. This isn't some broke @$$ indie dev that can't afford bigger cartridges because of their budget. This is a giant company who cheaped out in order to make their bottom line more profitable or to minimize their losses in case MK sells miserably on the switch. I'd understand a gig or two but half of the systems internal memory? That's a bit much. Haven't supported any other game that has done this and I wont start now.
