@BlueOcean Yep, I love Extreme-G. Tends to be unfairly overlooked. The series died when good ol' Acclaim went bust many moons ago. Shame no one will buy the rights and release a collection for modern consoles. BTW, it was not last seen as a Gamecube launch title. The final game was Extreme-G Racing Association(the 4th), which came out in 2003. Acclaim went under the following year and thus no more Extreme-G..
Bravo! Bethesda and their partners do the classic 90s "boomer shooters" right! All this for only 10 bucks. If you're at all a fan of Quake, you would be a fool not to pick this up off the eShop. Same applies to all of their excellent releases of the Doom series.
@BoilerBroJoe "Boomer Shooter" is a generational label(baby boomer generation), referring to classic old school 90s FPS games like Doom, Quake, etc. While it has a nice ring to it, ironically it is not at all accurate because most baby boomers didn't play those games! It was gen X and older millennials like myself who did. For example, my parents and my wifes parents are boomers and trust me, none of them were playing Doom in the 90s LOL.
@Grandiajet Yeah, I strongly suspect they just put it out in this state because they wanted it out there for the holidays. Greed can be very bad. What a shame that these games finally get ported to a Nintendo console and this is what we get.
@Alztru That's a terrible assessment. Virtual Console on the Wii had Genesis, Master System and Turbografx-16. They weren't Nintendo systems back then either, but I don't recall anyone objecting to their inclusion. The reason no one was clamoring for Genesis/Mega Drive on NSO is because we already have the Sega Genesis Classics collection and the Sega Ages series. Frankly, the problem is the launch lineup is a bunch of games already available on the Switch. If they release some good Genesis games on NSO that aren't already available on the Switch else where, the value and appeal will increase substantially.
I knew the comments section was gonna be lit, LOL. Yeah, it is overpriced for sure, but please keep a little perspective. Remember that N64 games were 10 bucks a pop on the Virtual Console. Curious then that a lot of people want the VC back. Also, Banjo-Kazooie! Never thought that would actually grace a Nintendo console ever again. I suspect Tooie will come as well later down the road.
@ModdedInkling I don't know what you saw in the Direct that made you come to that conclusion. NSO is definitely going to be required for Splatoon 3. It's 20 bucks a year dude. That isn't diddly these days.
@Scrubicius Get it! It's a bargin at only 10 bucks, a lot of bang for your buck. Unlike Quake 3, it also has single player. Furthermore, we don't when or if Quake 3 is getting the remaster treatment.
@Zenszulu Yes, it is the full Quake 64. Just keep in mind that it has an ugly CRT filter put on it and there's no way to disable it. That's my only complaint. Hopefully they'll give us the option to turn it off in a future update.
@FlyingFoxy The Switch can't do ray tracing though. I don't want the game to look like some some super slick modern HD FPS anyway. We've already got Doom 2016, Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein 2 for that. The enhancements in this remaster are just right. Nightdive always does these retro FPS perfectly.
@60frames-please Ok, I now know what's going on with it. Apparently it has a CRT filter draped over it and sadly, there's no way to disable it. I can't stand it either, but hey, at least Quake 64 is there. Maybe they'll provide an option to disable it in a future update?
@Guitario I've watched direct capture footage of the arcade version and it looks identical. Keep in mind the arcade version came out in 2016 too. If you want to see yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGh2ZwWJSMs
@XenoShaun Frankly, if a single player experience is what you're looking for, Splatoon is probably not for you. Sure, it has a single player mode, but the multiplayer is really what the games are all about.
@Lone_Beagle 8BitDo is awesome! I do not have any of their controllers, but I do have their arcade stick. It is very well made, I have zero complaints. They make quality products at a good price.
@Nin10dood Hell, we didn't even get anything Mario Kart related. I thought there was a good chance there would be new DLC for 8 or the long overdue Mario Kart 9, but nope.. This game was the saving grace for fans of silly, unrealistic arcade racers like myself.
@Onion Have you played it since all the updates were done? I think it's far from horrible. Forever Entertainment actually listened to all the complaints and addressed them. I'm looking forward to the Zwei remake. Here's hoping for an E3 reveal.
@Bass_X0 Maybe so, but the home console ports, while quite good, are still watered down compared to their arcade counterparts. The arcade versions have the best music, graphics and sound effects by far. They are SF 2 as the creators intended.
@Jeronan I don't see a true successor(ie a Switch 2) happening any time soon. The Switch is on track to sell a 100 million plus units. Nintendo isn't going to let go of that money tree for at least another 3 years or so.
@VENOMVSCARNAGE The Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 was absurd. There were worldwide races I did with nothing but Japanese players ALL using Morton in the Blue Falcon firehopping all over the place. I wanted to throw up.
Cool and all, but I'd much rather they did Generations, which has never been released on a Nintendo console. I've had the old Wii version of Colors for years.
@sixrings Because it makes me feel like I have to own a "Switch Pro"(assuming it is even real) even though I don't really have the money for one. Watch, after this damn thing comes out, half the people you see going nuts on message boards, social media etc. won't even buy it. Only 20% of the PS4's ever sold were the Pro iteration.

Re: Quake Has Received Its Second Major Update For Nintendo Switch - Horde Mode, A New Free Add-On And More
@Little_Squee Thank you for the heads up. I figured it still had a lot of problems. I think it's going to take months to completely fix all 3 games.
Re: Quake Has Received Its Second Major Update For Nintendo Switch - Horde Mode, A New Free Add-On And More
I just discovered that you can now turn off that fugly CRT filter on Quake 64!
Re: Quake Has Received Its Second Major Update For Nintendo Switch - Horde Mode, A New Free Add-On And More
@Little_Squee Is it actually worth the money now or is it still a hot mess?

@Azuris Nonsense. The DLC is excellent.

Re: PSA: Remember To Update Your Joy-Con, As Well As Your Nintendo Switch
@Donkey-Kong-Fan Nope... Watch Spawn Wave take apart a Joycon and show you why Joycon drift happens.
https://youtu.be/Z7um_1jr2vg
Furthermore, if a simple firmware update could fix it, Nintendo would have done that years ago.
Re: PSA: Remember To Update Your Joy-Con, As Well As Your Nintendo Switch
@Pirate1 The drifting is 100% hardware related. No firmware update is going to stop it.
Re: DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two Expected To Arrive On Switch "Later This Year"
A horde mode would be awesome if you could play it with others online. This is why I love Salmon Run and CoD's Zombies.

Re: Nintendo E3 2021 Direct To Air 15th June
@Mr_Persona To each their own. Splatoon 3 is my most anticipated Switch game. To say I love, love, love Splatoon is putting it mildly.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Fastest Kart - How To Build The Best Kart
@VENOMVSCARNAGE The Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 was absurd. There were worldwide races I did with nothing but Japanese players ALL using Morton in the Blue Falcon firehopping all over the place. I wanted to throw up.
Re: Nintendo E3 2021 Direct To Air 15th June
My wish list is Mario Kart 8 DLC or Mario Kart 9, Metroid Prime 4 and more Splatoon 3. If I get at least 2 out of the 3 I am happy.
Re: Sonic Colors: Ultimate Confirmed For Switch, Releases This Fall
