During Nintendo's E3 presentation last month, the DOOM Eternal Part One DLC got a surprise release.
Alongside this, Bethesda confirmed the second part would be arriving on Nintendo's hybrid platform at a later date, and now DOOM Eternal's executive producer Marty Stratton has reiterated this in his latest development update.
"Part One is also now available for Nintendo Switch and we expect to release Part Two later this year."
This information was part of bigger news about the next game update which will redirect focus from the planned "Invasion Mode" to a "totally new" single-player horde mode.
"We're confident this horde mode will offer you more of the diversity and challenge you're looking for in the game."
The team is also hard at work on a "refresh" of the Battlemode (and includes a new map) and will share more at QuakeCon, which takes place next month.
Will you be trying out Part Two when it arrives on the Nintendo Switch? Looking forward to future game updates? Leave a comment down below

"the unforeseen consequences of the pandemic and remote working impacted the progress of development"
Really tired of hearing this even if it's valid and understandable.
I long for a copy of Doom Eternal on my shelf. Really hoping that happens after the next DLC.
how about giving us a physical copy with everything in it as a complete edition thats at least you can do bethesda for screwing gamers who prefer the cartridge over digital.
@RiasGremory : How have they screwed fans?
The complete game isn't even ready for them to issue such a physical release in the first place. The fact that they cancelled the physical release of the base game is a good thing.
Those who want to play the game now have the option to do so via download while those who want a physical copy (such as myself) can wait until the game is complete (with all DLC and patches on the cartridge) as there is surely enough demand to warrant such a release, even at a premium.
It's win-win for everyone.
I wish all publishers would delay physical releases until the entirety of the game is complete. As a collector, I'm happy to wait as I am absolutely sick of buying incomplete physical releases. If I had to choose between having the DOOM Eternal base game on cartridge at launch or wait 1-2 years for a complete physical release with the DLC/patches included, I'd take the latter every time.
@nib0 ikr I want a physical game just to have with all the dlc and patches on the cartridge
Invasion mode never made sense you’re just so powerful in the single player you’d have countless ways to quickly destroy invading players without even needing a bfg, sounds like this was an idea from marketing because they heard of this thing called Dark Souls.
Will never understand why Bethesda releases doom on the switch and not Oblivion or fallout 3.
@Silly_G That's a good point. Hopefully, they'll follow through with a physical release once the game is fully complete, and I don't see why they wouldn't.
@Silly_G cancelling the physical version wasnt a good thing they could of easily fit the main game itself on the cartridge while the multiplayer would of been downloadable just like the last doom game on the switch so wat bethesda did was bs plain and simple.
@nib0 if they do which they wont most likely because the sales from doom eternal on the switch are not that great due to their dumb decision of cancelling the physical version which would of giving them more sales.
When DOOM Eternal charts on the eShop, it appears on the main chart and NOT on the download only chart. Does this mean a physical release is happening? Curious
A horde mode would be awesome if you could play it with others online. This is why I love Salmon Run and CoD's Zombies.
@RiasGremory
On the PC it is possible to delete other Languages from the Folder and save up to 10 GB.
Not sure what’s this big obsession with physical. I picked Doom Eternal up for £24.99 in a sale. It would never be that cheap physically
What a fantastic game this is! Got the game and the expansion both on day one,the same will happen when Part 2 is released.
@HamatoYoshi physical copies take less memory space then digital.
