Re: Mini Review: Spanky's Quest - Surprisingly Charming Monkey Business

@karatekid1612 Gotcha. Funny thing I just realized too is that even if Konami still owned the rights, they still wouldn't release the TMNT games for the NES & SNES Switch Online! They'd surely release a collection like they did with Castlevania and Contra. Although that would still be very welcome! It appears after the Virtual Console on the Wii and Wii U, Konami and Capcom realized they can make more money by just releasing their own collections on the eShop. Heh.

@karatekid1612 Dude, this has been explained a billion times. TMNT is a licensed intellectual property and that's why you pretty much never see any re-releases of the classic Konami TMNT games. Believe me, pretty much any of us old fogies who grew up with the those games wants them on our Switch. Frankly, you're better off buying the real hardware and carts or using not so legal emulation methods if you want to play them.
Copyrights can really suck some times, but it is what it is.

Re: Review: Serious Sam Collection - Two-Thirds Enormous Fun, One-Third Crushing Disappointment

I just bought it because it was 50% off on the eShop and I am very happy with it. A lot of content for the money. Some of the comments here say there's no online play, but there most definitely is. Maybe it was patched in? Problem is, no one is actually playing it online. I have yet to find an active game. Shame as I think death match and co-op would be really fun. I haven't played 3 yet so I cannot confirm if it still has any performance issues. Also, this is the first time any of these games have been on a Nintendo console, which I think is pretty significant. As someone who had a Wii and Wii U, it was a real bummer that they never got games like this, Doom, Duke Nukem etc. Of course the Gamecube had The Next Encounter, but honestly this is a lot better than just one exclusive game.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Becomes The "Best-Selling" Racing Game In US History

@TanukiTrooper I don't think Splatoon 3 is going to split the player base. The vast majority of people who are still playing Splaatoon 2 now, years after its release, are going to buy 3. If Activision can crank out a new CoD every single year, Nintendo can put out a new Splatoon every 4-5 years.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Becomes The "Best-Selling" Racing Game In US History

@Expa0 Couldn't disagree more. I love how streamlined MK 8 is. It has just enough trademark MK chaos to be fun, but not too much like Double Dash and Wii do. I was frankly extremely disappointed with Team Crash Racing. The BS drifting mechanics are rage inducing! Also, the online lobbies are pretty barren. It has been collecting dust for months now. At least I only paid 20 bucks for it..

Re: Mario Kart 8 Becomes The "Best-Selling" Racing Game In US History

If there is not going to be a Mario Kart 9 for the Switch, new DLC is desperately needed. 48 tracks is nothing to scoff at, but I've been racing those same 48 tracks since 2015(since i had mk8 on my wii u and all of its dlc). As great as many of those tracks are, I am simply burned out on them and this is the primary reason I no longer fire the game up for online races almost daily like I did with the Wii U version back in the day. With such a massive install base, imagine how well some new DLC packs would sell! Nintendo would rake in the $$$.

Re: Nintendo Hiring Splatoon 3 Level Designer To Renovate "Existing" Stages

vio

@MS7000 I don't really see that being an issue with the Switch having such a massive install base(thats still growing rapidly!). Hell, they pump out a new Call of Duty every single year and it works. Splatoon 1 still has an active community and that's on a dead, 8 year old console that only sold roughly 14 million units.

Re: Nintendo Hiring Splatoon 3 Level Designer To Renovate "Existing" Stages

vio

@Noble_Haltmann That might be the motivation the developers have to produce another one for the Switch. It's common knowledge that 2 was very similar to 1 because they had a really short development cycle for it. This one on the other hand is coming out 5 years later. I expect it will it expand and change a lot while keeping the same basic formula that the hardcore fans demand at this point.

Re: Nintendo Hiring Splatoon 3 Level Designer To Renovate "Existing" Stages

vio

I see no reason not to include ALL of the stages from 1 & 2. There really doesn't need to be an artificial limit, the more the merrier. If Smash Bros can do this, then so can Splatoon(and mario kart for that matter!). They also seriously need to increase the map rotations to at least 3 or 4 per cycle or allow voting. That nonsense in the first 2 games where only Splatfests would get 3 map rotations was just stupid.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon 3, Coming To Switch In 2022

vio

@Rosona Except Nintendo isn't even doing what Activision does with CoD. They aren't dropping a new Splatoon every year. Splatoon 2 was an early Switch release in 2017 and 3 here is releasing in 2022. That's actually a much larger gap than 1 and 2 had, which was only 2 years. Also, to presume that this can or should be DLC based on one trailer to a game very much still in development is absurd.. And incorrect, 2 most definitely did have a single player story driven campaign and also had a hefty second single player campaign added to it with the Octo Expansion DLC. To be frank, if single player story driven gameplay is what you're looking for, Splatoon is not for you. The online multiplayer is the main feature in Splatoon and is what keeps us hardcore fans coming back over and over again. If Splatoon was just a single player experience, I would definitely not still be playing it in 2021.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles

@Razer Come on guy; FOCUS. I made no mention of NSO as a whole, it's value, quality or lack there of. I honed in on your comment about the emulator being "shoddy" because that is complete nonsense. You're entitled to your own opinions, not your own facts. As for NSO, if you feel it is crap and not worth $20 a year, then don't subscribe to it. No one is forcing you to. But move on with your life. Your extreme negativity is exhausting, irritating and has no place here.

Re: Review: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled - A Karting Treat For Fans And Newcomers Alike

I finally bought this and man, I'm not so sure I should have. The drifting mechanics are brutal and frustrating. A big turn off. It's a quality kart racer as a whole, but I can't get past the horrid drifting. Also it seems like the online has already died. Maybe it depends on the time of day?shrug It was a ghost town when I hopped on. MK 8 on the other hand is full of players 24/7.
