Re: Talking Point: Five Key Challenges Nintendo Faces with the NX

thatguyEZ

@smashbrolink I do agree, and there are certainly people out there like that, though I'm not one. Quite frankly I'm a bit tired of the amount of indies Sony is pushing out monthly for the PS+ IGC.

I also agree that third party studios didn't do anyone any favors by pushing garbage ports onto the Wii U. But the NX will need support from those studios if it wants to have a shot at appealing to the broader gaming community. Though if the NX is more powerful than the PS4/Xbone half the battle will already have been won.

Re: Talking Point: Five Key Challenges Nintendo Faces with the NX

@gatorboi352 "Third-party ports won't make or break the NX, and exclusives will be far more important." Is what I was taking issue with. If the NX is unable to bring third party studios back around it will be just as dead as the Wii U. Though after re reading the section it seems our views were more or less in the same vein.

Re: Talking Point: Five Key Challenges Nintendo Faces with the NX

I couldn't disagree more about the third party section. For people who can only invest in one console, the one with 6-12 month gaps in between major games won't be in the running. Sure loyal fans might bite that bullet, but mainstream buyers who feel nothing for Nintendo won't. The rest of the article I can see where your coming from, and while I don't agree with it all, I certainly see them as valid points to be made.

Hopefully Ninty is able to get it right this time around.

Re: Sony Wishes The NES A Happy 30th Via Twitter

thatguyEZ

This comment section seems to be full of fanboys, quite unsavory to be frank. Can't say I'm surprised though.

But I suppose it's no surprise Sony mentioned this on Twitter. The people who run these companies are usually on pretty good terms with each other.

Re: Video Game Voice Actors Contemplate Strike Action Over Pay and Conditions

@yorumi. Preach. I love how people forget how poor the majority of people in the world were prior to the rise of capitalism and that it's because of capitalism that most people in the countries that use it are able to feed their families and even able to buy things not vital for survival. I really don't see how people can look at how bloated the American government has become and think 'hey we should make that even bigger!'

But this whole VA actor situation is really a nonissue as far as I'm concerned. They can just not take the job if the pay isn't right or they have some kind of moral objection too it. Not to mention I really am not a fan of Mr. Wheaton.

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero's Delay Could Be The Final Nail In The Wii U's Coffin

thatguyEZ

@ChessboardMan I do agree that the way the major publishers view selling games is unsustainable and will eventually collapse around them. (Big) Games are costing more and more to make and thus must sell more to be considered successful. I think this is just a natural process of the free market we're seeing as gaming matures and it will eventually become more stable. But I do think things for these big companies will become worse before they become better. There is certainly a place for big AAA games, as I would think everyone enjoys getting their fix of Halo, GTA, CoD, etc. here and there. And I think we'll eventually see a reemergence of the AA market either as the technology gets cheaper and indies are able to make those games on their limited budgets, or the big publishers realize that they can't bank on only releasing big budget games in a sustainable fashion.

As far as Star Fox getting delayed, I didn't expect it to move consoles anyway. And while I will certainly be picking up XCX and I'm hoping it will be great, it doesn't have as much mainstream appeal and JRPG fans who own the PS4 at least(as Xbox really never gets many JRPGs or SJRPGs) will be getting their fix from Disgaea 5 and Tales of Zestria(oh how I wish I could include Persona 5 here). The Wii U has been dead commercially, this is simply the latest in many nails that have been driven into its coffin.

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against amiibo-Cloning Tool Amiiqo

thatguyEZ

I'm totally fine with this device existing, though chances are I won't be picking this up. This is just a side effect of the free market, not enough supply to meet the demand so people find alternatives. That's how the world works. Nintendo made their bed, now they get to lay in it. Not to mention nothing about this device is illegal by itself.

Re: The Piracy of amiibo Now Seems Possible With the 'amiiqo' Device

thatguyEZ

@FLUX_CAPACITOR There's no doubt that the data for all the figures will be uploaded eventually. This is really just torrenting amiibo data.

I don't really feel one way or another about this, I won't be picking one up. Though I can certainly see why people would. If the Fire Emblem figures aren't easier to get ahold of when Fates comes out this will be a godsend for many people.

Re: Video: Here's How Zombi Shapes Up Against The Original ZombiU

thatguyEZ

@Zelkardaim PS4+Wii U+Vita+3DS+PC > relegating myself to one console for some arbitrary reason.

This isn't surprising though, Ubisoft are the kings of lazy ports. I wasn't going to pick this game up anyway though, and if I did I likely would have already gotten it for the Wii U. Regardless there are plenty of better games coming out soon that will keep me much more occupied than this would have.

Re: Core Console Market Bigger Than Ever, Despite The Impact Of The "Wii Bubble"

thatguyEZ

It bodes well for Nintendo IF they smarten up and actually release a console that is up to 2017(whenever it launches) standards. Not having an account model, hardly any online, etc. They also need to simply accept that they messed up with the Wii U, at least from a marketing perspective, and move on. Them attempting to blame the failure of the system on tablets was distasteful and seemed more like a joke than anything. I sincerely hope they are able to turn it around, as I love the company, but they need to really make an effort this time around.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Looks Set to be a Single Release in the West, According to Amazon

thatguyEZ

@JaxonH Yeah I've used one at Best Buy to play Majora's Mask. I agree that it's great, though I'd probably fall more in love with it after using it for an extended amount of time. I do hope that they come out with an XL LE, as I would be sold and pre order that on the spot. It would make sense for them to release a standard New 3DS LE as a way to launch the standard models in NA. Though I feel we'll have them here by then.

I agree that Xenoblade is a fantastic game and that it's a great first game to show off what the New models can do, but I feel that it's a bit of a niche title and doesn't attract the mainstream audience, though that's a different conversation entirely. I do use 3D more than not, so the more stable 3D is a huge plus in my book. They also just feel more sturdy and well built than the old models IMO. Faster downloads would also make my life a whole lot better. I'm not sure about the battery, but I do hope you get more time out of charges. My 3DS dies after about 2-2 1/2 hours of play with 3D on and it is quite annoying.

All in all I agree with you. I wasn't aware that by trading in you'd get $100 the New models. I suppose the reason I haven't gotten one yet is not only have I been waiting on a LE one of a game I love(such as Fates), and that I've just been buying other games lately. Of course it's almost Fall and after MGSV drops, the flood gates will have opened for holiday releases. But like I said, if the come out with an LE for Fates, then I'll be sold on it.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Looks Set to be a Single Release in the West, According to Amazon

thatguyEZ

@JaxonH Ohh that's great to hear! Well let's hope that you guys will be getting both as well. I can understand the business sense behind just releasing one version, but I feel like that's kind of half-***ing it.

I hope they release an LE 3DS, though it would have to be a New 3DS for me to get it. I've been waiting for Ninty to give me a reason to get one and that would definitely be it. Though I hope it'd be an XL. Releasing just the regular 3DS as an LE would be kind of backwards IMO. As Nintendo has only released Xenoblade as an exclusive and this won't be, it feels a bit unnecessary at this point. The New models are certainly a lot nicer than the old ones, but without games its pretty unnecessary.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Looks Set to be a Single Release in the West, According to Amazon

thatguyEZ

@JaxonH I agree, this is most likely too good to be true, and as you said they'll likely only release one version in stores and you'll end up picking one of the paths but you'll have the option to get the second through DLC. If that's the case, then I'd rather them physically release both versions in NA as they did in JP. Or, like you said, them release a collectors edition that will come with both in limited packaging and some goodies. Fire Emblem is one of my favorite franchises out there, and as such I'd rather have both Birthright and Conquest sitting on my physically sitting on my shelf.

Re: 3DS Can Last For Another Two To Three Years In The West, Says NIS America Boss

thatguyEZ

I could make do for another 2-3 years on my Vita and 3DS. As far as the 3DS is concerned, I have a lot of games and time on the system so the thought of having to replace it an re-buy all my stuff if its compatible is not a welcome one. I love the two systems though, and while there's little hope for a successor to the Vita(which is quite sad), I hope Nintendo releases another duel screen handheld if the NX isn't an all-in-one. I will miss the 3D if they decide not to include it with the next system though.

@troj27 The 3DS is quite under powered, so I'd say we have certainly seen it pushed to its limits already.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th August (North America)

thatguyEZ

@Spoony Ahh you just reminded me, I was waiting on that as well. That really disappointed, I was really hoping to be able to play it on my Wii U.

I've already picked up the physical version of EO:U 2, and seeing as there's no Xenoblade for NA, I won't be downloading anything this week.

Re: Soapbox: It's A Tragedy That Rare Replay Isn't On A Nintendo Console

thatguyEZ

Wait wait wait, so you don't think that people who own the Xbox deserve this game? Give me a break, that's just straight up fanboyism right there. Sure, it would be nice if it was on the Wii U, but Microsoft bought Rare 13 years ago. That's how the industry works, you don't get everything you want. Having to buy an Xbox to play this is quite annoying, but saying people who own it don't deserve this game just reeks of petty jealousy.

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd July (North America)

thatguyEZ

Already have the Binding of Isaac Rebirth and Devil Survivor 2, so I'll probably be picking up the new EO theme and that's it.

@grumblebuzzz It's a rogue like game, where you attempt to get to the end of the dungeon with different powers. The maps are different between playthroughs. It's a really fun game actually.

Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passes Away Aged 55

thatguyEZ

@Mr_Zurkon I wasn't trying to take away from his legacy, he presided over the company for some of my favorite systems, GameCube and 3DS. Not to mention he seemed to be a really genuine person, and truly wanted to keep the core tenets of Nintendo intact. It just seemed he wasn't really taking the company in the right direction as of late. Which I suppose is just a matter of opinion.
