@Truegamer79 You need to stop looking at the original game through a modern lens. For 1996, TR's graphics were AMAZING. Same with its controls, which were really ingenious with how you navigated through a 3D space. Outside of Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 64, no other action game from that year is as revolutionary.
I remember playing it on Wii U and after a while, the game just froze. Never had that happen with any other VC game- it worked again after I reset, thankfully. It's very possible that there are emulation issues that Nintendo wants to iron out before releasing it.
Really disappointed they didn't include any more Jaguar games, especially since the phrase Console War suggests the '90s to me. Jaguar was competing with both the 16-bit consoles but also 3DO and the upcoming Saturn and Playstation.
@miwa To be more specific, it's more that the way you switch items is rather clunky, since you have to hold a shoulder button and use the D-pad to choose an item. It's hard to do in the heat of battle with a boss.
One other thing: If you want to pick up where you left off and come back to the game later, whatever you do, DON'T just quit during gameplay, because that will end your game and you have to start all over. You have to get a game over, and THEN quit when it gives you the option. They could've made that clearer, or better yet just have it autosave your progress no matter what.
Warning: This game doesn't hold your hand. It can take multiple tries just to pass one sub-area. It took me over an hour to get to level 4 last night.
Also, I wasn't a fan of how the action didn't pause (or even slow down) when you brought up the inventory screen. It made switching to a different weapon during a boss battle very cumbersome.
Guess I'm in the minority that this update didn't do as much for me as the 4/18 and 5/25 ones. I guess I'll keep playing Blaster Master Enemy Below but I really wish it differentiated itself more from the original game aside from different level layouts.
@anoyonmus They totally should. For the other two consoles too while they're at it. It is technically backwards compatible with XB1 but you need the original disc AFAIK. We need a digital release as well!
For those that haven't played them, these two games are pretty fun- but I already own them on XB1 so I won't be double dipping for this. Plus as mentioned ad nauseum, we need the first five games remastered. They haven't been released on consoles in over a decade.
NES Classic or Nintendo Switch Online versions for me. SMAS version is broken due to the "bounce higher when hitting a block" mechanic, the original NES carts are not getting any younger, Wii VC version requires, well, booting into Wii Mode, the Wii U VC release has washed out colors, and SMB1 shouldn't be played on a handheld screen unless that's all you've got.
So I already beat Kirby's Dream Land 2, there wasn't much to Side Pocket or Xevious, and BurgerTime Deluxe is pretty repetitive. Good thing I still have Metroid Fusion and Zelda: Minish Cap that I'm working through...
Bought it today. It doesn't appear to have the New version, only the Old (they have different opening levels). I wonder if that will get added in an update?
@Mr_Nutz My favorite of the era was Game Players/Ultra GP, but yeah I bought some random issues of EGM as well. I still can't believe there was a 400 hundred page issue of EGM. That was insane.
Yeah seriously, please tweak the headline. Looks like a lot of people had the same thing in mind.
I'm re-reading Game Over: Press Start to Continue by David Sheff, and obviously Shigeru Miyamoto is a big part of many chapters of the book. Nintendo is very lucky to have such a talented man.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Update Announced, Here Are The Patch Notes
"Restore missing audio in 32X MKII" - oh thank God, that was the main issue I noticed when playing the games.
Also grateful that they're speeding up the pause menu activation.
I'm still holding out hope that a further future update adds UMK3 for Genesis and MK Gold for Dreamcast.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Fatal Fury Special (SNES)
I like the color choices on the NA box better, but the JP one has the better character designs. A tie.
Re: Whoops, It Looks Like Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection's Release Date Has Leaked Early
Day one purchase. Hopefully this release date is legit.
Re: Gex Trilogy Confirms Summer 2025 Switch Release, Here's The Official Trailer

Re: Review: Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered (Switch) - A Fascinating But Inessential Second Collection
@Truegamer79 "If you want to be honest none of these games were all that thrilling even when they were new. Not even the original."
Objectively wrong.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Mario Kart 64
US by far. The Japanese one is so empty. And while the circle tells us who else is in the game, the US one actually shows some of them in action.
Re: Conan The Barbarian Joins Mortal Kombat 1's DLC Roster Next Week
It will be such a waste if Conan, after winning a match against Sub-Zero, doesn't say "He was Sub-Zero. Now? PLAIN ZERO."
Re: So, Have You Pre-Ordered Donkey Kong Country Returns HD For Switch?
You better believe it. One of my favorite Wii games, will love playing through it again on a new console.

Re: Random: Did You Know About The Korean Version Of Super Mario Bros. Super Show?
The set isn't nearly as good as the U.S. version. Also it's just lacking something without the forced canned laughter.
Re: Poll: Okay, It's Time To Ask The Obvious - Will We Get Donkey Kong 64 On NSO?

Re: Switch Online's Expansion Pack Promises "Excitement" In 2025
@Pastellioli June 2023 was the last Genesis update. Pretty lame.

Comon more Jaguar games.
Re: Mortal Kombat 1's Next DLC Fighters Possibly Revealed In New Datamine
Welp, goodbye hard drive space. So much taken up for just one game.
Re: Lara Croft's Pinup Posters Go Missing In Tomb Raider I-III Remastered
@BangHangleton That is a strawman, since this is not the reason people are upset.
Re: Feature: 10 Game Boy Deep Cuts That Aren’t On Nintendo Switch Online
@Munchlax SML is the correct answer. It's astounding it's not on the service yet.
Re: Nightdive Is Remastering One Of The Most Insane FPS Games From The '90s
Comon Nightdive, give us Shadow Warrior (classic) already. I know you want to.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy & GBC Library With Three More Classics
Oh come on, why no Super Mario Land 1 already?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project
NA is the winner and it's not even close.
Re: Talking Point: What Classic Sega Franchises Do You Want To See Rebooted?
Power Drift. Make it happen, Sega.

Oh please let there be more Jaguar games.
Re: Soapbox: No, Mario Wonder's Most-Annoying Character Isn't The Talking Flower
You're nuts. The Poplins are cute.
Re: Review: VISCO Collection - A Well-Presented Neo Geo Arcade Set With Online Play
I didn't even realize this was out! I'll probably be getting this soon.
Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Library With Another Game This Week

"Hey, come on! Hey, come on! Hey, come on!"
Re: Poll: How Many Of You Have Actually Visited 'Minus World' In Super Mario Bros.?
Yes, and it sucks. The minus worlds on the Japanese SMB are so much better.
Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Admit That F-Zero X Is The Best F-Zero
I hate article titles like this. I don't have to admit anything I don't want to. Take it down a notch, just a little bit.

Re: Rumour: 'Mortal Kombat 1' Is Supposedly Coming To Switch
We already had a reboot. It was called Mortal Kombat 9.
Re: 'Double Dragon Gaiden' Announced With Scott Pilgrim-Inspired Visuals And Gameplay
Kinda wish they weren't drawn in SD style.

Looks like Horizon Chase 2 on PS4/XB/Switch is out of the question now. Rats.
Re: Four Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Have Been Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack
All great games on this update. Yes, even Flicky. I will not allow a bad word said about Flicky. (stern stare)

NES Classic or Nintendo Switch Online versions for me. Re: Legendary Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma Has Turned 60 This Week
You've got to stop wording your headlines like that. Better to start with "Happy Birthday to..." so people don't panic.
Re: Feature: 22 Game Boy Advance Games We'd Love To See Added To Nintendo Switch Online
Donkey Kong Country 1-3, because it would give me an excuse to play through those games again.
Re: Round Up: Here's What Switch Online Players Think Of GoldenEye 007 So Far
Xbox version is way better. Modern FPS controls make it a lot more fun.

U.S. Sonic CD reminds me of the basketball tip.

Re: Random: Every Issue Of Nintendo Power Is Now Available To Download
Most of these have been on Retromags for years and Nintendo hasn't come after them... I think they're safe.
Re: Sega Wants To Know What Mini Console Fans Would Like To See Next
32x, because to date only one game from it has been re-released on modern consoles: Blackthorne, of all things.
