Just played through the whole thing in the last couple days. While some of the levels got a bit long in the tooth, it was a lot of fun and a welcome change from the Kaizo Mario levels that too many users make- it was still challenging but not frustratingly so. Nice work all around!
EDIT: And to those saying "It took him seven years to make this??", hey, you never know his situation. Maybe he's employed with a demanding job, or has kids, and could only work on this on his downtime.
@Atariboy Agh, you're right, it was Atari Anthology. I got mixed up because Crystal Castles was on Atari's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 for PS1, and many of those titles were later on Midway Arcade Treasures.
One other thing: I hope the emulation of Crystal Castles is better in this version than in Atari Flashback Classics Collection. That version was missing instruments for the music. Kinda pathetic when the version on Midway Arcade Treasures, from two game generations ago, sounded more accurate.
The only level that's somewhat tolerable in this game was the Wolverine one. The opening Spider-Man level is just boring with the follow-the-arrows, Cyclops's stage is full of instant death floors, Storm's is a dreaded underwater level, and Gambit's is too hard. Never made it to the final level with Spidey.
Not remotely surprised this was a troubled production.
Welp, updated. And no surprise, the channels that have been discontinued (Wii U Chat, Miiverse) still haven't been removed to save space. I truly don't understand why I can't delete those channels myself even if I don't have a modded Wii U.
This is not a "start your engines" for the scalpers- they would've pre-ordered it even before this warning. This is for those like myself who just assumed the Mini 2 would have similar levels of inventory as the Mini 1.
I always found it odd that Capcom chose to sue Data East for Fighter's History. If anything, World Heroes had more similarities to Street Fighter than Fighter's History did.
Anyway, it's not a bad game but goes without saying Dynamite (which never got a SNES port) is superior.
I definitely appreciated it more when replaying it on 3D All-Stars, it was easily the most improved of the three titles. My favorite 3D Mario game is still either Mario 64, Galaxy 2 or Odyssey.
@Freakservo Good point. This means we didn't get certain melodies that were only featured in Sonic 3- I'm not even talking about the replaced level themes, I mean the Knuckles entrance music and invincibility music. Conversely, the 1-up theme for S&K was absent in favor of the Sonic 3 version. So while Sonic 3 & Knuckles are meant to be played together, stuff is left out because of it.
The only real issue I had when playing through the games again is that the bonus levels in Sonic 2 were harder due to the differences in controls compared to the originals. You'd think it would be easier since the scrolling is smoother but the controls felt... floaty?
Anyway, fix these graphical things if you must, but just give me a stage select on the main menu instead of having to input a unique code in-game, and I'll be happy. Oh, and add Knuckles Chaotix in a future update.
So I paused at 0:44, here's what was listed: -Adventure -Asteroids -Atari Karts -Basketbrawl -Warlords -Breakout -Cannon Bomber -Centipede -Missile Command -Major Havoc -Haunted House -Fight For Life -Dodge 'Em -Demons to Diamonds -Cybermorph -Combat -Outlaw -Dark Chambers -Baseball -Volleyball -Scrapyard Dog -Swordquest Air World -Star Raiders -Super Breakout -Yar's Revenge -3-D Tic Tac Toe -Tempest (Jaguar) -Tempest (2600) -Swordquest: Water World -Swordquest: Fire World
Also at 0:53: -Food Fight -Miner 2049er -Missile Command 3D -Yoomp!
I guess I'm in the minority that likes the beta songs better than the ones one of the final release. And since I already own Sonic 3 in many formats, it'll be nice to have a different version for once.
The only thing this game has over SNES Final Fight is the ability to continue right where you left off instead of being spit back to the beginning of the level if you lose all your lives. Otherwise, this is a really half-assed effort. Playing it again last night felt like a chore instead of a pleasure.
Rayman Origins let you run around during the loading screen. I always tried to see how far on the loading map I could get before the actual level started.
I originally wasn't going to bother with this collection since I already have these games so many times, but there are enough exclusive things in this (Knuckles in Sonic 1 being a big one) that I'm now excited for it.
Don't know if this has been revealed yet, but will Sonic CD include both soundtracks like the standalone release did?
So what seems likely on this upcoming set? Obviously 3 Wonders and Son-Son will be on there, but also likely: -1943 Kai -Avengers -Black Tiger -Block Block -Eco Fighters -Exed Exes -Gun.Smoke -King of Dragons, The -Knights of the Round -Last Duel -Magic Sword -Mega Man: The Power Battles -Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters -Quiz & Dragons -Side Arms -Speed Rumbler, The -Tiger Road
So I bought this because it was only $4. It's awful. They didn't use the same slick game engine as the original mod (which of course was based on Doom) but rather re-built from the ground up. And the new engine they used is sluggish and has a low framerate that defeats the purpose of what a Doom clone should be. That and the new levels feel a lot longer than the originals, and it feels too easy to run out of ammo, make it a lot harder than the original game. I'm disappointed.
That one person lost me with "I trust Sony more than Nintendo"- it's not like they're any better, slowly disabling the PS3 store by only allowing you to purchase items on it with pre-paid money rather than a credit card. They were actually going to get rid of the PS3 store entirely but backpedaled because of the backlash.
@joey302 I wonder if Taito is hesitant about re-releasing it due to epilepsy concerns. I suppose they could use the version featured on Taito Legends for Xbox which removes the flash effect, but then people would complain that it wasn't the authentic original.
I just can't replay this game anymore. The game just feels sloooow compared to other entries in the MK series, the course design is rather bland, and there are no unlockables aside from mirror mode and a different title screen.
In college this was the big hit of my dorm floor. I always wished we were playing Crash Team Racing instead, which I found far superior in both single-player and multi-player.
I still love this game and have bought it multiple times on various consoles, and it's one of the few games in my collection that I casually speed run for, but yeah... the camera.
People complain about Gex: Enter the Gecko's camera but I never had as big an issue with it as I do for Mario 64. At least you can smoothly rotate the camera to your liking instead of Mario 64's fixed options.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Simpsons Game?
Simpsons Arcade, obviously, but I also sorta enjoy Krusty's Super Fun House, aka "If Simpsons did Lemmings".
Re: Exclusive: Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Locks In November Release
Maybe I missed it, but is this being released on digital marketplaces as well?
EDIT: Looks like it is!

Really wish they had included Checkered Flag and Kasumi Ninja for the Jaguar games, but still glad we're getting any Jaguar at all.
Re: Random: Nintendo Censored Famous Marvel Location In SNES Spider-Man Game
@HammerGalladeBro As a kid (which is when I first played this), I didn't pay attention to companies and trends. I just rented games and played them.

I like how we're finally getting games based on eras other than the NES.
Also, this may be the first kiwi-based game since The New Zealand Story.

Still hoping we get Arrow Flash for Genesis- that's the only title from the AtGames Flashback Genesis console that I don't have in some capacity.
Re: Rumour: New Metal Gear Solid Remasters Reportedly Incoming
Already have MGS 2 & 3 for XB1, but if a remastered MGS1 is available separately I'll definitely jump on it!

Earthworm Jim 2 is still a lot of fun to play through... except for the Puppy Love stages and The Flyin' King. Those are exercises in frustration.

Treasure is such a, um, treasured studio by some, but more and more I'm thinking the only game of theirs that I truly loved was Dynamite Headdy.
