Re: Random: This Super Mario Maker 2 Fan Spent Seven Years Crafting 'Super Mario Bros. 5'

Just played through the whole thing in the last couple days. While some of the levels got a bit long in the tooth, it was a lot of fun and a welcome change from the Kaizo Mario levels that too many users make- it was still challenging but not frustratingly so. Nice work all around!

EDIT: And to those saying "It took him seven years to make this??", hey, you never know his situation. Maybe he's employed with a demanding job, or has kids, and could only work on this on his downtime.

Re: Random: Nintendo Censored Famous Marvel Location In SNES Spider-Man Game

The only level that's somewhat tolerable in this game was the Wolverine one. The opening Spider-Man level is just boring with the follow-the-arrows, Cyclops's stage is full of instant death floors, Storm's is a dreaded underwater level, and Gambit's is too hard. Never made it to the final level with Spidey.

Not remotely surprised this was a troubled production.

Re: "Screw This Game" - Sonic Origins Modder Halts Development On Massive Patch

@Freakservo Good point. This means we didn't get certain melodies that were only featured in Sonic 3- I'm not even talking about the replaced level themes, I mean the Knuckles entrance music and invincibility music. Conversely, the 1-up theme for S&K was absent in favor of the Sonic 3 version. So while Sonic 3 & Knuckles are meant to be played together, stuff is left out because of it.

The only real issue I had when playing through the games again is that the bonus levels in Sonic 2 were harder due to the differences in controls compared to the originals. You'd think it would be easier since the scrolling is smoother but the controls felt... floaty?

Anyway, fix these graphical things if you must, but just give me a stage select on the main menu instead of having to input a unique code in-game, and I'll be happy. Oh, and add Knuckles Chaotix in a future update.

Re: Gallery: Brand New Screenshots Of Sonic Origins, Out On Switch This June

I originally wasn't going to bother with this collection since I already have these games so many times, but there are enough exclusive things in this (Knuckles in Sonic 1 being a big one) that I'm now excited for it.

Don't know if this has been revealed yet, but will Sonic CD include both soundtracks like the standalone release did?

Re: Chex Quest HD Exists, And It's Getting A Switch Port This March

So I bought this because it was only $4. It's awful. They didn't use the same slick game engine as the original mod (which of course was based on Doom) but rather re-built from the ground up. And the new engine they used is sluggish and has a low framerate that defeats the purpose of what a Doom clone should be. That and the new levels feel a lot longer than the originals, and it feels too easy to run out of ammo, make it a lot harder than the original game. I'm disappointed.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 64 - Frantic, Formative Four-Player Karting Chaos

I just can't replay this game anymore. The game just feels sloooow compared to other entries in the MK series, the course design is rather bland, and there are no unlockables aside from mirror mode and a different title screen.

In college this was the big hit of my dorm floor. I always wished we were playing Crash Team Racing instead, which I found far superior in both single-player and multi-player.

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 - The Best Launch Game Ever Made

I still love this game and have bought it multiple times on various consoles, and it's one of the few games in my collection that I casually speed run for, but yeah... the camera.

People complain about Gex: Enter the Gecko's camera but I never had as big an issue with it as I do for Mario 64. At least you can smoothly rotate the camera to your liking instead of Mario 64's fixed options.
