Re: Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis Expansion Pack Announced For Switch Online, Launches This October

Not at all interested in the Genesis service- unless there are some surprises down the line, those games have been released a LOT, but the N64 one is promising- already on launch I would play Sin & Punishment, Winback and Mario Tennis, and of course it would give me another excuse to play through Super Mario 64 for the umpteenth time. I just hope the NES and SNES aren't neglected now that there are new systems in the mix.

The San Francisco Rush port on Midway Arcade Treasures 3. Let's be honest: It's broken as heck. The physics are all screwed up- it's WAY too easy to crash or lose control of the car. But that's part of the fun: Launching a colossal jump, then nudging the side of a building and watching your car do an insane amount of rapid fire spins until it finally crashes into something and explodes.

Plus there are weird audio glitches like "Final LAPS TO GO", or the random voice bytes when you enter a hidden area: "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!"- again, part of the charm.

And hey, at least it's still better than the PS1 version.

Re: Review: Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol - A Classic That Deserves Better

@DawgP Hopefully many/all of these things will be fixed/added in a future update. It's not out of the realm of possibility- after all, the Blizzard Arcade Collection gave more options and games with later updates.

First time playing Ghoul Patrol, BTW. While it wasn't bad enough to not want to try all the levels, I didn't like it as much as ZAMN. Why they added the "slowing down" momentum to the movements instead of the tight controls of the original is beyond me, but it made the gameplay a bit slower. And these physics made platforming jumping more difficult than it needed to be.

Re: Mini Review: Spanky's Quest - Surprisingly Charming Monkey Business

Just played through it for the first time since I was a kid, took me about 50 minutes. I still contend this is an underrated gem. The unique attack mechanics offer strategy and variety in how you thwart enemies. The music is still catchy as heck. The levels are extremely short, but sweet. Finally, the enemies are unique, being food-based and all.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles

@Dinklebot That would require modding the game. Not like there haven't been other changed versions on Virtual Console but those are usually removing advertising or epilepsy-inducing stuff, not replacing an entire soundtrack. Best we can hope for is if they start putting GBA titles on there and DKC 3 happens to be one of them.

FTR, both soundtracks have their good points, but I actually think the SNES DKC3 soundtrack is greatly underrated.

Ahahaha Tuff E Nuff (er, I mean: HEY PUNK! ARE YOU TUFF E NUFF? Master the Moves to Master Me!). For those who haven't played it, if you're expecting a worthy competitor to Street Fighter II, prepare to be disappointed. But it was probably something they could get cheap.

Looking forward to playing through DKC 3 again, obviously. Interested in trying out Nightshade, Valis, and Ignition Factor for the first time.

Re: Capcom Arcade Stadium Brings More Retro Action To Switch Early Next Year

I suppose this is good news if you've only owned Nintendo consoles, but for me, I already own the majority of these on either the Capcom Classics Collections, Capcom Arcade Cabinet, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary, Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle, and the Super Retrocade. There are a few exclusives here but much of it is double dips, just like Namco has a habit of doing.
