Really hoping they release some more TG-16 games soon, specifically Air Zonk and Splatterhouse. And of course, PC Engine CD games like Castlevania Rondo of Blood would be welcome too.
@Slim1999 A patch for the PAL release doesn't necessarily mean the NA release will have the same thing out of the gate. Hopefully it will, but I don't know how well the North American and European branches communicate with each other.
I'm sick of Wii titles being classified as "Virtual Console" games.
Per Wikipedia's article: "Although similar to Virtual Console titles in some ways, these games are not technically part of Virtual Console as they run on native hardware rather than by emulation, and they are not branded as such either."
To those who are saying Mario 64 DS is a wasted release since the N64 version is already on the eShop, it's not a 1:1 copy. The DS version adds three more playable characters, some new levels, mini-games, more detailed character designs, and some tweaks to the game. If you're a Mario 64 fan like I am, it's worth double-dipping.
Why are the Turbo Grafx 16 file sizes so big? Bonk's Adventure and New Adventure Island are both over 130 MB a piece. On the PS3, both games are only about 20 MB in size.
Still waiting on five VC games Europe has that America strangely doesn't: Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Wave Race 64, Super Mario 64 DS, and Mario Party 2. What's the hold up?
I got Sega 3D Classics on Tuesday. It was worth buying just for Power Drift.
If I had to venture a guess, marketing thought American kids in the '90s were allergic to anything with a non-American art style. Hence the change to a less anime-esque Mega Man.
You can still see traces of the anime influence in the show intro, but not so much the episodes themselves.
Well, now I can say I've played through Super Mario Special. Honestly, it's not bad. Had this been released on NES with the scrolling intact, it might be remembered as a classic alongside the original SMB.
I was actually pretty disappointed in this game. I beat it in just under 40 minutes. And your swipe move (i.e. the non-projectile) takes care of most of the regular enemies in the game, meaning you can just run through everything without much strategy.
Not buying unless it has Hidden Palace Zone enabled. I already have enough copies of regular Sonic 2 (Wii VC, Sonic Mega Collection+, Sonic Jam, Sega Genesis Collection, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, 360 port).
It's easily the best in the series, and one of the best beat-em-ups ever. It's not -quite- as good as Final Fight (the arcade version, obviously), but it's darn close.
NSMB1 is my least favorite of the modern 2D Mario games, but it's still a good game and a fine choice for the VC. Not sure if I'll double dip, since I just bought the cartridge last year, but it would be nice to have it on a bigger screen.
Who didn't see this coming? Nintendo has clearly been more interested in GBA for the last year, and with N64 and DS now in the fray, something had to give, thanks to Nintendo's head-scratching policy of not releasing more than one new game per week outside of a few rare exceptions.
To be honest, I don't have a ton of games left for NES and SNES that I want; I just hope Nintendo doesn't slack on the N64 line-up so soon after starting it (Paper Mario seems to be the only new title announced right now).
Big Blue was much better than Kaze let on. The whole thing was a wonderful homage to F-Zero X, it had great presentation, and I like how it was one long track. That was the right choice for it.
Ribbon Road was the other highlight here, surprisingly. It was much more evident that it took place in a kid's room than in MKSC.
About the only track I'd classify as mediocre was Super Bell Subway, which was kinda bland and reminiscent of other MK tracks with its train obstacles.
@Nico07 I mapped it to so that the crouch button was the ZL button, jump was B, punch/kick was A, move camera left/right was Y and X, and look was ZR. Bringing up the menu was mapped to L so it was out of the way. Seemed to work pretty well for me.
This time through, just for fun, I kept track of how long it took me to get to 120 stars. It took me roughly 7-8 hours of total playtime. I'm pretty amazed I flew through it that quickly (though I know speed runs have done it much faster), though the save states probably had something to do with it.
The game's not perfect- some aspects to the controls haven't aged well, and the camera is very limited compared to what would come even a couple years later. And the bosses, what few of them there were, felt like afterthoughts. But this is one of those cases where if you focus on the flaws, you're not seeing the forest for the trees. Bottom line, it's still addictive as heck.
If you own more than one console, Namco Museum for GBA is a waste of money. You can get Namco Museum Virtual Arcade for 360, which contains about six times as many games as what's being offered for the GBA title.
Now that the DKC games are released, I'm not anticipating the VC releases as much. That said, there are still a few remaining Wii VC games that I want to see re-released on Wii U: -Actraiser -Blaster Master -Bubble Bobble -Ninja Gaiden 2 & 3 -Rival Turf! (might as well, since Brawl Brothers was released) -Super Adventure Island
Really surprised that Pac-Attack is coming to Wii U VC, considering that it was part of the Pac-Man Collection. On the other hand, this isn't the first time that Nintendo has released two versions of the same game on the eShop (SMB2; SMAdvance).

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Puts the NES Mini Up Against Retro Rivals
Anymore, I pretty much exclusively use the Retron 5 for my NES needs. It has a much sharper picture and more options/save states than the Wii U VC.

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th January (North America)
Can anyone confirm whether F-Zero X has that dead zone controller issue that the PAL release had?
Re: Review: Excitebike 64 (Wii U eShop / N64)
Excitebike World Rally is way better.

It won't.

How many more Pokemon games are left to get out of the way so we can actually move on to other VC games?

Re: Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Coming This November, Ships With 30 Games
It's a neat idea, but it's about ten years too late.

Re: The Japanese Release of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Will Have the e-Reader Levels
Even though I already own Mario 3 many times, I would buy this game to get those E-reader levels. If NOA feels like releasing it, of course.
Re: Nintendo Download: 17th December (North America)
Still waiting on Ninja Gaiden 2 & 3 on NA Wii U VC...
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th November (Europe)
Watch: Here in the U.S. we'll get none of those VC titles this week.

Re: Review: 3D Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (3DS eShop)

Aw nuts. No purchase for me, I guess.
Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Is Spin-Dashing To The 3DS eShop On October 8th
Not buying unless it has Hidden Palace Zone enabled. I already have enough copies of regular Sonic 2 (Wii VC, Sonic Mega Collection+, Sonic Jam, Sega Genesis Collection, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, 360 port).
Re: Nintendo Download: 6th August (North America)
Onimusha Tactics is considered "classic" Capcom?
Anyway, still waiting on SSFII Turbo Revival.

Re: Weirdness: You Can Buy About 300 Copies of Jurassic Park on SNES for $1500
It's a good thing this is a common game or I'd be annoyed at one person hoarding so many copies of it.
Re: New Super Mario Bros. Receives ESRB Rating For Wii U Virtual Console
@shani Nope, it's a completely different game from NSMB Wii.
Re: New Super Mario Bros. Receives ESRB Rating For Wii U Virtual Console

I dug Wild Woods. Very Ewok-esque.

Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2 Available to Download Right Now
Download size for this update?
Re: Natsume Has Eight Game Boy Advance Titles Prepped For The Wii U Virtual Console
If we're counting non-GBA games, I would love it if Natsume would bring Spanky's Quest to the VC.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd April (North America)
Already downloaded Mario 64; will probably download Yoshi's Island DS soon.
What's the file size on AVGN Adventures?
Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd April (Europe)
@Kolzig There are plenty of releases Europe has that America doesn't, so it evens out.
Re: Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures Looks Set For Wii U on 2nd April
Nice! Never got a chance to play this until now, but I'm definitely interested ever since seeing the Nerd himself play it.
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th March (North America)

Re: F-Zero: GP Legend Rated For North America Wii U Virtual Console, Arrives This Week
Is it better than Maximum Velocity? I have to admit I was a tad disappointed in that game.
Re: Speedrunner Conquers Super Mario 64 in World Record Time, With No Stars
Wow, Mario 64 really is broken, isn't it?
I mean it's still one of the best N64 games, but wow.
Re: Nintendo Download: 5th March (North America)
Now that the DKC games are released, I'm not anticipating the VC releases as much. That said, there are still a few remaining Wii VC games that I want to see re-released on Wii U:

No rush, Nintendo.
Re: Interplay Is Remastering Cult SNES Brawler ClayFighter
If Interplay is smart, they'll port Tournament Edition as well as the original. It says "all previous titles" so hopefully that includes TE.
The same applies to Sculptor's Cut, moreso in fact, due to its rarity.
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th February (North America)
(thumbs up)
Re: Look On In Despair At The Hardest Super Mario World Level Ever Made
Eh. Never been a big fan of these "so hard you have to resort to tool assist" fan levels.
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th February (Europe)
@manu0 I worded that badly. My overall point still stands: That there's sometimes more than one version of a game on the eShop.

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th February (Europe)
So how long will North America have to wait for Blaster Master?
Re: Video: Guess What, Super Mario Sunshine Looks Amazing Running At 60fps
@thiz Do developers actually use that as an excuse why their games are 30 fps? If so... wow.
Re: Weirdness: Hands Up If You Knew About the Super-Easy Button Combination to Resume Progress in Super Mario Bros.
If I remember right, I discovered this by accident when playing the game as a kid.
Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd January (North America)
Not that I'm not grateful for S.C.A.T., but would it have killed NOA to release both that and Shadow of the Ninja on the same week like NOE did?
Re: Nintendo Download: 15th January (North America)
I'll get SF2010.
Re: Wii Disc Software Heading to the Wii U eShop
What's the file size for Galaxy 2?
