@Slim1999 A patch for the PAL release doesn't necessarily mean the NA release will have the same thing out of the gate. Hopefully it will, but I don't know how well the North American and European branches communicate with each other.

I'm sick of Wii titles being classified as "Virtual Console" games.

Per Wikipedia's article: "Although similar to Virtual Console titles in some ways, these games are not technically part of Virtual Console as they run on native hardware rather than by emulation, and they are not branded as such either."

To those who are saying Mario 64 DS is a wasted release since the N64 version is already on the eShop, it's not a 1:1 copy. The DS version adds three more playable characters, some new levels, mini-games, more detailed character designs, and some tweaks to the game. If you're a Mario 64 fan like I am, it's worth double-dipping.

Still waiting on five VC games Europe has that America strangely doesn't: Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Wave Race 64, Super Mario 64 DS, and Mario Party 2. What's the hold up?

I got Sega 3D Classics on Tuesday. It was worth buying just for Power Drift.

If I had to venture a guess, marketing thought American kids in the '90s were allergic to anything with a non-American art style. Hence the change to a less anime-esque Mega Man.

You can still see traces of the anime influence in the show intro, but not so much the episodes themselves.

I was actually pretty disappointed in this game. I beat it in just under 40 minutes. And your swipe move (i.e. the non-projectile) takes care of most of the regular enemies in the game, meaning you can just run through everything without much strategy.

Re: Natsume Suggests That Nintendo's Moving Away From SNES on Wii U Virtual Console

Who didn't see this coming? Nintendo has clearly been more interested in GBA for the last year, and with N64 and DS now in the fray, something had to give, thanks to Nintendo's head-scratching policy of not releasing more than one new game per week outside of a few rare exceptions.

To be honest, I don't have a ton of games left for NES and SNES that I want; I just hope Nintendo doesn't slack on the N64 line-up so soon after starting it (Paper Mario seems to be the only new title announced right now).

I dug Wild Woods. Very Ewok-esque.

Big Blue was much better than Kaze let on. The whole thing was a wonderful homage to F-Zero X, it had great presentation, and I like how it was one long track. That was the right choice for it.

Ribbon Road was the other highlight here, surprisingly. It was much more evident that it took place in a kid's room than in MKSC.

About the only track I'd classify as mediocre was Super Bell Subway, which was kinda bland and reminiscent of other MK tracks with its train obstacles.

@Nico07 I mapped it to so that the crouch button was the ZL button, jump was B, punch/kick was A, move camera left/right was Y and X, and look was ZR. Bringing up the menu was mapped to L so it was out of the way. Seemed to work pretty well for me.

This time through, just for fun, I kept track of how long it took me to get to 120 stars. It took me roughly 7-8 hours of total playtime. I'm pretty amazed I flew through it that quickly (though I know speed runs have done it much faster), though the save states probably had something to do with it.

The game's not perfect- some aspects to the controls haven't aged well, and the camera is very limited compared to what would come even a couple years later. And the bosses, what few of them there were, felt like afterthoughts. But this is one of those cases where if you focus on the flaws, you're not seeing the forest for the trees. Bottom line, it's still addictive as heck.

Now that the DKC games are released, I'm not anticipating the VC releases as much. That said, there are still a few remaining Wii VC games that I want to see re-released on Wii U:
-Actraiser
-Blaster Master
-Bubble Bobble
-Ninja Gaiden 2 & 3
-Rival Turf! (might as well, since Brawl Brothers was released)
-Super Adventure Island

No rush, Nintendo.

Really surprised that Pac-Attack is coming to Wii U VC, considering that it was part of the Pac-Man Collection. On the other hand, this isn't the first time that Nintendo has released two versions of the same game on the eShop (SMB2; SMAdvance).
