Re: Guns And Spurs 2 Attempts To Give Red Dead Redemption Some Cowboy Competition

solidox

@JoeyTS So they employ the same pricing strategies as other publisher like Activision then? It's quite common to price high then offer a massive saving.

I never commented on the quality of the game. Imitation is the best form of flattery as they say. It is unlikely you will confuse RDR and G&S2, and the same goes for Last Hope and TLOU.

Maybe if Nintendo Life reviewed for some of the games on your link, people would not be duped so easily.

As to ripping of.

Personally I don't mind these sorts of games.

Re: Unity Reveals New Pricing Model For Runtime Fee Policy

solidox

I hope that developers going forward still ditch Unity to turn the “hard feedback” to a “hard lesson”. I will avoid any games in the future made using it. Unity does not make great games, developer do. The cost to develop a game that sells 10 copies or 10 million copies is the same.

I did not plagiarise my homework. It is just heavily influenced by friends answers.

Worth keeping in mind that in Chinas courts, Apple (as in Apple Computers) had a copyright infringement case raised against them for infringement on the use of the name iMac. Apple lost.

The style of BotW was heavily ripped off. Period.

Re: EA Is Encouraging Families To Set Up Parental Controls This Summer

solidox

Hmm EA care so much about family and children safety the pretty much abandoned the Nintendo “for Kids” Switch in favour of other platforms where guns, killing, drugs are common place. At a guess a prerequisite from the EA legal department to make people thing the responsibility of the $1000 in app purchases are the parents fault.

Re: Random: Sony's Upcoming 'Project Q' Is A Little More Wii U Than Switch

solidox

This article really is better suited to Push Square rather than Nintendo Life I think. If there was only a few more Xbox related articles to balance things out. Product itself is a bit redundant. Just buy yourself a cheap Android tablet running with Wi-Fi that matches your local Wi-Fi networks top speed and pair you existing PS5 joypad. Remote Play to your hearts content.

Re: FIFA Replacement 'EA Sports FC' Officially Unveiled

solidox

My best FIFA memory was the original “FIFA International Soccer” in the Megadrive. The use of soccer in an international context showed how much EA and FIFA really cared about football as a sport. There was one team in that game which was so bad you could score a goal from kickoff. The team was Qatar.

Re: Platinum Celebrates Metal Gear Rising's 10th Anniversary Later This Month

solidox

Reference to “Standout developer” comes across as ass kissing really. W101 a game that was crowdfunded to bring it to current platforms and pitched as being dependant on meeting the backing goal to happen. The game shipped to retailers to be sold online and in shops before the people who actually backed it got their copy. Some backers today are still waiting for rewards platinum promised. Bayo 3 is similar to Bayo 2 and Bayo 1. Nier that’s a port. Will give them Astral Chain. One original game on a system does not a standout developer make.

Re: Shmup Sol Cresta Lands Additional Fighters In New DLC

solidox

It’s quite an engaging experience as vertical shooters go. The levels are a bit long and the bosses are a bit uninspiring. I think it hits the “Neo Retro” mark quite well. It’s on sale just now on the eshop. I would recommend the base game and the DLC ship pack. The dramatic edition content while nice just drags out the levels which are long. The new ships essentially bring different play styles and add variety. I have noticed some micro pauses (or frame skip) in the current update but from what I can tell performance on some of the later levels has improved. These micro pauses are infrequent and do not really impact gameplay. When it comes to graphics space invaders was originally monotone so I would ignore any commentary on that front.

Re: Review: Samurai Maiden - A Saucy Hack-And-Slash That Makes For An Entertaining Romp

solidox

Have this on physical and as games go it’s okay. Graphics on Switch are okay and the combat is engaging. Your character is a bit lethargic to begin with and things feel a little cumbersome in combat but things open up when you start levelling the characters up. The level designs while basic are an improvement on the onechanbara series. Levels are short which is a plus on the switch. Only real negative are the loading screens which thankfully when you replay a level are bypassed.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Tactics Ogre: Reborn

solidox

I am not sure the relevance of a Push Square review of the PlayStation version of a game for switch owners but I do look forward to their views on the new Pokémon game. For all the screen shots of the game I have seen there appears to to a pixel smoothing filter being applied is there an option to turn it off?

Re: Video: The Future Of Gaming Is Joy-Con Drift-Free

solidox

@Drb with at least 228 million joycons world wide I suspect a recall is out the question. They do fix for free and once returned covered by a year warranty. I just keep sending them back and have a spare set. Not perfect I agree. I suspect better solutions are covered by patents which Nintendo won’t pay licensing for. Drift also affects other analogue inputs. Few I imagine have close to 0.25 billion devices in the wild

Re: Video: The Future Of Gaming Is Joy-Con Drift-Free

solidox

Drift is really a non-issue. Had two joycons that drifted. Sent them to Nintendo who fixed for free. (One also had a damaged rail attachment which was also fixed for free). Believe it or not PS4 joypads also get drift, as did the red nub mouse controller sticks on Thinkpad laptops.

Re: Video: New Switch Hardware Won't Stop Bad Ports

solidox

Bad Ports and ill informed commentary. Persona 5 don’t run at 60fps on PS4 and neither does Nier Automata. Jurassic Park theorem should apply to the porting decision. Just because you could port does not mean that you should port.

Re: Bayonetta 3 Dev Responds To Voice Actor Dispute In Official Statement

solidox

The only ground for any grievance would be a difference in remuneration between Atsuko Tanaka and Hellena Taylor. It’s not clear if Helena was asking for increased remuneration for just herself or both the Bayonetta voice actors/ actresses. I read it as the former. I do agree that providing a voice for a character involves a lot of work to do it well. As time progresses I have seen the accreditation of voice actors in game previews etc becoming more prominent. It’s fair to say it more that a just a short voice gig when it comes to headline games.

Re: NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition

solidox

@spikeponcho I agree that it has been under rated by NL. Originally I bought this on PS4 but the frame rate and resolution caused eye bleed (eye strain) and I could not play in for any length of time. On Switch played it docked/undocked and finished the main storylines almost non stop. Graphically it’s not to far adrift from the PS4 and the switch does not seem to suffer from the frame rate dips the PS4 had.
