UK physical chart data is now in for the week ending 28th August, revealing that No More Heroes III earned itself a top 20 debut.
The game, which launched exclusively on Switch last Friday, landed in 16th spot in its opening weekend and was the only newcomer aside from Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 - Elite Edition on PS5.

NMH3 is not the type of game to have huge appeal in the UK. As expected.
I have a Dread-ful feeling Nintendo will be topping the charts again in about 40 days.
ZeGarden of Insanity.
Loving all the humors so far.
That toilet reference before boss fight 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Travis is a s s down funny dude.
absolutely in love with no more heroes 3 rn, it's the most fun i've had with a game in a long while and it's just great to run around santa destroy again, glad to see it at least made it into the top 20 here
Insert sarcastic "Nintendoomed" comment here.
NMH3 is awesome! UK market is beyond a joke at this point, lol
Glad to see The Garden of Madness has charmed many. No More Heroes III is a great game.
Still waiting for my LRG copies (I am not even sure if they have shipped yet).
Can't expect much from the same market that's buying Marvel's Avengers, the truly classic game of this generation.
Where is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart ?
Well, at least Animal Crossing New Horizons was on number 7.

Ratchet & Clank dropped 50% in physical sales and is in 12th for the week.
NMH not lighting up the charts here isn’t a UK problem and it’s not surprising at all- I’d be very surprised if it does huge numbers in any part of the world. It’s the definition of a niche series.
I’m sure it’ll do as well as Marvelous are expecting though. Not every game has to sell gangbusters to be deemed a success.
Nice seeing Aliens at top as its a really fun game and at £35 its at a great budget price.
I’m not surprised. Nowhere has a copy. Game had none and Argos have none in stock anywhere!
Is that good for NMH how does that compare to the others in the series? Also shock that Aliens is in number 1.
@Varkster The story mode is great and the free post-launch content has been excellent. Haven't played the Black Panther dlc yet but it's meant to be huge. The post-story grind missions are what most people aren't fans of. Agreed it's not the best game, but at £20 I can see why it's gone up the charts.
@Duncanballs I think it's a really niche game anywhere you go. I would be interested in seeing what the reaction would be if it was a big budget AAA game, rather than a BBB game as Suda put it.
I really don't understand how everyone who wants a copy doesn't already own MK8, GTAV, or Minecraft at this point
Frankly, I'm not surprised to see little movement on these lists. Nothing major is releasing on any platform. 2021 has been mostly a wash
@Mando44646 MK8 will have a high attach rate with new Switch sales.
Still need to play no more heroes 1&2 f
@Mando44646
People are buying consoles every week, and they are buying games to play on them... I really do think that it's as simple as that.
@Mando44646 Has 2021 been a wash? I think it’s been great. Bravely Default 2, MH Rise and MH Stories 2, Skyward Sword HD, Great Ace Attorney, Neo TWEWY, Ys IX - and Metroid Dread and SMTV still to come. Best year for retail releases in Switch’s life, IMO, apart from maybe 2017.
@Krull I suppose I'm being a bit harsh on the Switch particularly - I agree the year has been pretty good. And Metroid + Pokémon + Advance Wars will make it a very great year. I've been mostly only playing the Switch this year
I'm probably more annoyed by the lack of software on PS and Xbox, and particularly the lack of software to justify owning a PS5 or Series S/X
@Mando44646 In the case of Minecraft, obviously kids are always being born, get older and get into gaming with it. In the case of GTA V, kids getting older and wanting more “mature” (heavy emphasis on the quotation marks there) games to play online with their friends and GTA Online is still huge. Mario Kart 8 is pretty much considered an essential Switch game and so if a Switch is bought I’d imagine that gets bought with it or soon after. Probably the crux of it
Honestly, coming in at 16 isn't too bad. I don't how much the original two Wii games charted back in the day but I'm guessing the sentiment was 'Urgh...its on Wii. It's naff'.
That said, with Switch being a strong seller and the NMH series being a cult success, I wouldn't be surprised if many are holding out for a sale which is fair enough. Either way, I hope NMH3 becomes a sizable cult hit that Suda would consider a new entry in 10 or so years later.
In the meantime, I hope more Suda stuff on Switch
Wow the first Aliens game to not be made by Sega finally. Glad they finally took the license away from that crap company. Aliens: Colonial Marines was hot garbage.
I don't think any of the other No More Heroes games (including Travis Strikes Again) even charted in the Top 40 at all during their launch weeks, so this looks to be a big improvement for No More Heroes 3 sales even if the overall numbers are still small.
The UK will be a hostile market to No More Heroes no matter, what so the bigger question will be how much it sells in other regions, particularly in the Americas.
Surprised to see Mario Kart 8 selling well even though it's been out forever
@martynstuff I don’t know how well the original games sold but considering the first one- a violent, bloody action game on a platform where those kinds of games definitely weren’t huge- managed to get a sequel greenlit, and then a spin off that didn’t even stick to the original formula for safety nearly a decade later…they must have sold well enough. NMH 3 hasn’t got a chance in hell of selling crazy numbers but it doesn’t need to if the publisher’s expectations are in check (which at this point I’m sure they fully know what to expect from the franchise). They’re not an EA or Activision who need to make all the money in the world on a game or it’s not worth it so I’m sure this’ll do well enough for them even if the chart position isn’t that high.
100% agreed though, need more Suda on Switch. I’ll take any ports/remakes of older works too if they’re going!
@Kainbrightside I have to respectfully disagree with you there. Finding the upgrades is half the fun for me and I thought the pacing was spot on even with me taking my sweet time soaking up the Samus goodness.
@FX29 Some of MK8s current target audience didn't exist when it first released, so I guess that's part of the reason why it's still selling as kids get old enough for games and are bought switches with what has become the essential game to have with pretty much any new switch. There's also an increasing number of people in the UK who are old enough to wonder what the fuss about GTAV is all about each year who would have been more bothered about Octonauts when it first came out 8 years ago.
@Kainbrightside fair enough you make a good point.
@Dragwhite Same here. They don't make games like that anymore, it's genuinely fun and not concerned about being another AAA "cinematic experience".
Ironically, it's the closest thing to a playable tokusatsu TV series these days.
No more heroes is hard to look at from owning an X box X. I know it looks like trolling to talk about game pass and 120fps and things like that but come one, this game looks like it's at least 10 years old at release and doesn't even have levels? I have NMH on wii and I know the game. This one having no levels and being a full priced game is a joke when you have gamepass.
Looks like one of those games which debut in top lists but they dissapear after a week because of limited appeal.
Nintendo has published 17 of the titles in the top 40.
In second place comes Sony, who published 4.
Going big picture, it's not that quiet at week. ^^
@Mando44646 Some people out there are just getting off on buying more copies lol
