Daemon X Machina is currently celebrating its second anniversary. As part of this, Nintendo has also released a Switch Online trial. That's not all, though...
During a special anniversary live stream, the game's producer, Kenichiro Tsukuda, stated how his team would eventually make a second entry. The only catch is it might take a while before it's actually released. Here's a translation, courtesy of Nintendo Everything:
“This isn’t really an announcement, but I’d like to make a strong assertion that we will make some kind of sequel. We need time to test things out, but we’re motivated. We always want to increase our player-base as games themselves and the times change, so we want to make something fitting. That’s where we’re at, but as I said, it’s going to take time.”
If there is a second game on the way, there's a good chance of it showing up on a Nintendo platform. Since Daemon X Machina's arrival on Switch in 2019, the game has been updated with new and themed content, additional modes, and even some free DLC. This was followed in 2020 with a release on PC.
Would you be interested in a sequel to Daemon X Machina? Have you played this game on Switch yet? Comment below.

I hope they give the sequel a little more budget. The first one had a solid core but lacked the frills and variety to really go beyond being a niche title.
I enjoyed the first, though with performance problems. Hopefully the sequel can take advantage of new Switch hardware whenever that may be. Never tried playing this on PC since the gyro implementation on Switch in this game was pretty spot on.
Hopefully the sequel can have a better story and better voice acting; that was my main gripe with the first. The gameplay was super fun, but I was unmotivated to continue the story. Excited to see what new ideas they could bring to a sequel!
I fell off the first and I'm not entirely sure why. I was rather enjoying it. I think it just got lost in the shuffle. This news and a certain other game have made me want to jump back in/start it over again.
In my opinion: The first game was mainly a cool looking game, but it lacked in the gameplay departement.
It felt a bit like getting a list of groceries done within a time limit, and there was not a real story to tie it together nor some sort of challenge system to keep people hooked to do ‘better than last time’, or ‘better than that other random guy on the internet.’
Maybe I’m too harsh but that is how I felt playing the game
Well won't be bothering with that at all since the free trial of the first is only for Europe. Woo Nintendo.
Sorry to be a frame rate jerk, but I honestly hope they quadruple the frame rate for a sequel. Aaaaaand I hope Nintendo releases a system that can accommodate that kind of motion smoothness. Even it's just a TV console, like an unswitchable Switch that is TV only instead handheld only like the Switch lite. Something with the power of Xbox series S (or a bit more!) would be amazing. I love to think what Breath of the Wild would look like with that kind of power! Well, hopefully it would look the same, actually, but be running at 120fps : )
Super cool graphics and style. Would like to play this at 4k60.
The game that sold like five copies, despite being Nintendo's E3 2018 show opener. I'm still baffled why Nintendo started with that, I felt like it set a bad precedent for the rest of the show. Not one of their better years, in my opinion.
Wanted to like the demo. Just didn't grab me. Even thinkin of not getting it off my wishlist on the current 50% off (at time of writing)
Well, the first one looked competent enough though wasn't my cup of tea (though the jump in quality from the first demo to the second was enormous). Getting a sequel with a better budget and more experience under their belt could produce an actual classic in the mini mecha genre. I just wish the damn things didn't actually fly (super jumping and climbing sure, flight is almost always wonky in action games).
Still need to play the first but I’ve never seen it have a decent discount. I’d probably buy at 50% off
The first game was alright. Nothing special but not terrible
I'm sort of surprised it sold well enough for a sequel
I hope Char Aznable is a character in the sequel too. It was wild hearing his voice in the first game.
Hmm. I wonder if there is a sequel, will Nintendo help to publish it for the Switch? Might have to take some convincing.
Sounds good to me.
The first game wasn't revolutionary or anything, but a solid, fun time (kinda like how I feel about Warriors/Musou games). I did enjoy the scale of the massive boss mechs (and the occasional unique mission such as one where you got to play as one such boss mech), so hopefully the sequel has more of that.
@WaywardScythe
Char Aznable's voice actor Shuichi Ikeda was in the game? I barely played the demo, but don't remember hearing his voice.
If you meant Char was a playable character, that would be most excellent!
I thought about going back to DxM this week, as Japan has the free online trial, too, but I've just been too busy with other games...
@Teksetter I did mean the VA but his character pilots an all-red mech. "Crimson Lord" I also only played the demo so he definitely showed up there.
@WaywardScythe
Thanks for the follow up! I will keep my ears open if I see Char's Custom Gelgoog-- er, I mean Crimson Lord show up.
It's always fun when anime seiyuu cross over into games to voice homage characters. I remember Ikeda-san voicing the boss "Shadow Red" in that great old Kikaioh (Tech Romancer) game on Dreamcast.
Hope we get another good. I’m a fan of mecha games and this was THE mecha game on Switch.
How well did this game sell? It went straight to the bargain bin at a lot of retailers after 3-4 months
@120frames-please lol even Xbox One S would be a massive improvement
@Kilamanjaro it sold quite well to get a sequel so that makes your comment invalid.
@Kilamanjaro True, but for a TV box I'd like Xbox series S or more!
@RiasGremory just because it sold quite well doesn't mean it can't hit the bargain bin. It can also be it didn't sell quite well but generated some type of a profit which means they can make a sequel. OR , amongst many other things, it sold more than the target they set (say 100k) but there are 100k on the market that didn't sell physically so price had to be reduced to increase the numbers sold at a smaller profit. So no, my comment isn't invalid lol. How many units did it sell? 42000? Does "quite well" mean for the publisher with 65k copies or in comparison to the broader market where some games sell 10 million+ copies?
@120frames-please well it doesn't hurt to ask for more! Let's see what Nintendo decides to invest in from a graphics perspective the next few years
@Kilamanjaro I hope they do it. I just got Xbox Series X and there are so many games on it that just look stunning and feel amazing to play at 120fps on my old 1080p monitor. It would be a dream to be able to play Nintendo games at that smoothness.
@120frames-please oh yeah, love the Series X! Got it back in March and it's honestly a bit jarring switching back yo some Switch games, especially since GamePass has so many good indie titles & they run & load like a dream
@Kilamanjaro Yeah, I've played Lonely Mountains Downhill for about 50 hours on my Switch. Then I discovered how much better it looks on Xbox one x. Then I got it on PC and saw it at 144fps! Wow, it's amazing at that speed and with zero load times. I just tried it on Xbox series x and it looks good and loads as fast as PC, but it's only 60fps so it doesn't have the same magical looking smoothness.
