The physical chart data for week ending 4th September is now in for the UK market, and in the absence of notable non-digital releases an old stager has re-taken top spot.
Yes, it's Minecraft. As a reminder, the UK charts give the physical Switch iteration its own entry, so every week it spends in the top 10 - and now in top spot - is thanks purely to sales on Nintendo's system.
No brand new titles cracked the top 10, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe following up for the silver trophy. In a disappointing note for fans of the series, after its top 20 debut last week No More Heroes III is nowhere to be found in the top 40.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart back to number 4. 😀
No More Sales 3 leads to no more No More Hereos 4.
It actually happened. Top 3 being Minecraft, MK8 and GTAV.
At least Minecraft and GTAV are still getting new content, MK8 hasn't gotten new content since 2017...
No blue shell joke? Really?
7 out of 10 games not released this year in September tbh that's a bit depressing
@dew12333 That’s a good one.
It was a budget game, though so they probably weren’t expecting a lot of sales. If it had high expectations they’d have invested more in development
MK8DX, GTA V, Fifa 21 and Minecraft - the four horsemen of longevity.
Why Minecraft, all of a sudden, though?
That seems... odd!!
God that list is depressing, seeing the same old games there every week, mainly because they are the "casual" gamers choice.
Hopefully Tales of Arise can be top next week, really looking forward to that game
As much as I like to see Nintendo doing well, this list looks like its from 2019...
When are Minecraft and Mario Kart NOT butting heads? However, the spike in Minecraft sales surprises me.
@UltimateOtaku91
Oh my gosh, I share that same pain. I'm always getting the impression that these "casual" gamers are missing out on so many great games on the Switch.
Maybe once it's on sale in the e-shop, NMH3 might do better. The ports for NMH1 and 2 did quite well when they were released last year (at a reduced price).
Also bear in mind that some of the games in this list are often included in console bundles. Hence why they're still in the top 10 after all these months/years.
Without actual numbers of copies sold, it is almost meaningless
@UltimateOtaku91
Maybe not everyone have same interest.
Great games by one people definition might be not something interesting for certain peoples and the unpopular games might be a choice for certain peoples.
They might missing out some great games by other peoples definition but it doesn't matter with the "casual" gamers as they have no interest with those great games.
Not everyone have interest with Zelda BOTW, Horizons, Forza, Tales games by Bandai Namco, Metroid games, etc.
@Anti-Matter I agree. People say that "casual" gamers are missing out on a lot of great games, but maybe they just aren't interested in the games.
@UltimateOtaku91 It's like following the pop charts when you are a metal fan hahaha!
@ObeseChihuahua2 I am a casual gamer who was drawn back into gaming through the WiiU. My theory is that MK8D is pretty much a default purchase for someone new to the system. A lot of these people probably had a Wii and the title is familiar. And then of course Animal Crossing caught fire due to the Pandemic. I am a little surprised Odyssey isn’t still selling, as I would probably buy that and would definitely be one that I would get if I were new to the system
That top 3 could've been any weeks chart since 2014
@Grumblevolcano Yeah which is why it's called deluxe.
@rockodoodle I think that might be the case, too. Mario Kart is incredibly fun and easy to jump into, so purchasing it would be a no-brainer.
Maybe its time for a top 20 rundown so we have variety in these articles.
